... that IS some damn fine helmet sheenage* that they've got going on there.

I'd almost go as far to say that that's the third best example of helmet sheenage I've ever seen.

*Its adequately cromulent.

Geez, how many times in the past has EA released screenshots of Madden that were misleading? They've got a record of tampering with supposed in-game footage of their games, so I'd take this with a grain of salt.
That said, it does appear that there is an onfield and a sideline ref in the pic, so they've finally caught up to NFL 2K on the Dreamcast! Hooray!

I thought it was a real pic until I looked closer. I wonder how it will look while it's moving. A single screen shot can be so deceiving...

Yeah, I also thought it was a photo before reading the headline. Still, this could have been photoshopped to hell. Let's see it in motion.

Are you guys serious?

Do you two not get out much that you can't make an accurate assessment of reality?

yea i wouldn't go as far as to say it's photo realistic but it does look damn good compared to other football games.

it's the first glance, you don't look at the details at first. the texture and lighting is really good, the postures are good, and until you look at the slightly-off shapes and think about the slightly-off coloring, it kinda looks like a photo.

Of course the real test is seeing it on a big screen - in motion. the motion can make or break a game, regardless of the other tech.

It looks more photo-realistic because of the depth-of-field effects (blurred background). Most sports games keep everything in focus (even the sideline characters), making the whole game world look flat and boring. I'd guess that this will run fairly smooth given the lesser DOF effect.

@SoCoolCurt: What other Football games?
Also, I realized this was fake the moment I saw it. There's no way the Pittsburgh offensive line would be able to maintain the pocket like that.

Well, it was pretty obvious that it wasn't a real pic because Ben Roethlisberger is way huger than that in real life.

I don't trust any screenshots coming from the Madden devs or Peter Moore. Anyone remember this one?

In general it looks like the sidelines have a lot more activity going on, between the players and the officials.

Is that the chain gang I see? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember them being on the field last year.

Well, the players on the sideline haven't been improved. They're as lifeless as before. They're not even looking at the play.

I wish Madden NFL would give up their exclusive agreement with the NFL. To me, the games were better when both EA and 2KSports were in competition with each other. I hate the fact that EA has an exclusive deal with the NFL, pisses me off.

Two years ago, I would have agreed 100% with you. But, besides the NBA 2K series, the 2K Sports brand has taken a giant step back this generation.

EA Sports now makes a much better hockey game, and SECA's MLB: The Show is light years ahead of 2K's MLB games.

Heck, even NBA Live is catching up. Couple that with the underwhelming All Pro 2K8, and I'm kind of glad that if anyone had an exclusive agreement, it's EA right now.

The choice to have an exclusive license was the NFL's, not EA's so you'd need to convince them to give it up. If EA gave it up, someone else would just get it because the NFL decided to auction it off.

Yes there is, i feel you're just not into sports like you once were maybe?...Each year for the sports genre there are slight nuances that you can pick out whether its for better or for worse...

The controls, graphics etc, always something different along with the roster updates.

Not a ranting, just saying.
