If they can support that graphical quality and NOT fall victim to A) Mr. Roboto animations and/or B) 10-25 FPS, hell, I might even give it a shot. And I fucking hate sports.

I already see unrealistic problems with the game. Max Starks is actually effectively blocking for Ben, which never happens.

Just kidding, love my Stillers, and that screenshot is impressive. Haven't bought a new madden since 04, it might be time

Maybe they'll finally put a Steeler on the cover? Haha, just kidding, no Pittsburgh fan wants that. It'll be Fitzgerald...or Favre again :P

Yes, the sidelines in a still image would be very static, wouldn't they?

I'm going to guess you knew what I meant.

If not, I'll spell it out to you: the sidelines have used the same 3-4 animations for the entire team for all the next-gen Maddens. I'm sick and tired of seeing a row of number 99's all stepping forward and scratching their heads.

What I see, is players on the sidelines, not watching the action on the field.

No other football games can beat Joe Montana Sports Talk Football '94. That was the last football game I've cared about. I've picked up cheap used copies of Madden the past few years. And I think out of the 2 newer maddens, I've played them for a grand total of 1 hour. IDK, maybe its because they are TOO realistic, but I just can't enjoy them.

Dang. Now I want to break out my old Genesis.

I don't really care about more detailed stitching patterns in the uniforms...or whatever they did.

I'd buy Madden in a heart beat if they finally got into this generation and let physics calculations dictate the actions of their players instead of the canned animations. If they integrated the Backbreaker tech with Madden, I'd buy three!

A lot of people have been commenting about how the players on the sidelines aren't watching the play. I'm pretty sure they're actually watching the receivers up field. They ARE all looking in the same direction, even if they're not looking at the LoS.

The depth of field is nice, though. Hopefully it won't get in the way of gameplay. Depth of field in games to me just doesn't seem right. In a one lens setup, it works, but humans have two eyes (two lenses), and field of view is kind of important when you're trying to make a pass. If I can't clearly see the LB about to stuff my QB AND my WR down field, there are going to be problems.

Humans suffer from depth of field too. You just don't notice it because you don't have the option of focusing your eyes on the blurriness outside your focus.

DoF is an excellent effect to add realism to a scene, but as far as gameplay goes...I think it's very hit or miss. I think it's generally better to rely on the player focusing their attention where they want it to be and let the other details blur out naturally.

Anyone else getting tired of Madden? It looks great, but just for the price doesnt have a long replay value anymore to me, just wondering if anyone else was getting burnt out?

Every year it's the best yet, yet every year you have to buy the newer version because the old one got stale. 39.99 and I would buy it.

Each year i am not worried about spending money, i am worried about the gameplay...
From EA - 2KSPorts i've noticed some change in the sports games but it seems they rather spend too much time/ resource into the Menu interfaces.

Madden09: there is no reason for me and a friend to get confused after a couple of drinks on how to load our profiles( on 360) when the game was first bought...

NBA 2K9: Yes ref thats right, whistle me for the "charge" since my opponent likes to switch his camera angle and draw charges from half court...

WTF man.

I'm hoping the detail we can't see in the screenshot is who developed it. In Maulok's World of Wishes, Moore's announcement will be something like this:

"Coming this August: Madden NFL 2010, developed by Visual Concepts."

Why is the right tackle 20 yards down the field? Throw the flag! Ineligible Receiver!

#74 must be playing tight end.

A few things:

- I see the chain gang in the background, that's new.

- Big Ben has the Super Bowl patch on his jersey, but doesn't have the Steelers patch on there. The Super Bowl patch would be a new feature.

- On field referees are new.

- Big Ben has a towel, that is also new.

- It looks like they have added the US flag to the back of the helmets.

Looks pretty good, except for Ben Roethlisberger's apparent weight loss. I think EA needs to work on presentation a bit, but of course gameplay always has priority over that. The only real improvements I see in this shot are:
-Improved player detail (hopefully the framefrate doesn't suffer from it)
-Refs are on the field again. They somehow could see penalties without even being on the field, hell, there weren't even any side judges in 09.

I'd like to see pure simulation-style football in Madden 10. I want to see:
-more realistic player movements
-more, improved tackling animations (Madden 09 was pretty good in those aspects, but theres always room for improvement)
-Chain measurments for possible first downs
-Injured players being carted, or assisted off the field
-Something INNOVATIVE! Like the First-person view that 2K sports did.
- I want to be able to run over referees if they get in the way

I dont want to see (or hear):
-Cris Collinsworth
-Cameras in the crowd flashing every second
-players "walking through" each other
-severely injured players walking off the field on their own
-players getting hurt from performing TD celebrations (I swear I did a celebration with Burress in 09, and he was crawling on the ground for a few secs as if he was hurt)
