GDC09: 2K as confused about 'Sea of Dreams' as we are

Kind-hearted folk that we are, we've decided to help out 2K marketing by putting the question to a key demographic: Joystiq readers!

Why does this keep getting reported on? I love Bioshock as much as the next gamer, but I'm not exactly holding my breath over whether or not it gets a subtitle. The game will still rock...
Maverick Saturn @ Mar 24th 2009 5:19PM
Well if it doesn't get a subtitle, 2K will loose fans, and thus revenue, they will go bust and never again will we have a Bioshock game.
Lord Shawn @ Mar 24th 2009 5:41PM
I think the intercourse fish should be removed also, the rape scene in the first game was COMPLETELY unnescessary.
This is a CHILDREN's game after all.
FOR CHILDREN.
The Dark Wayne @ Mar 24th 2009 4:33PM
why is that in these polls we always go with the stupid answer?
Shmil @ Mar 24th 2009 4:35PM
I voted for Mr. Bubbles? because frankly I don't care about the title. As long as the game is good I'll be happy.
RiccochetJ @ Mar 24th 2009 4:43PM
I picked it because everyone else did. Now if you excuse me, it appears we're going to go jump off a bridge!
Erluti @ Mar 24th 2009 4:52PM
It said "Mr Bubbles?" ? Crap! I wanted to vote for "Mr Bubbles!"
Rokashi @ Mar 24th 2009 5:40PM
No idea. I still click on it though. >_>;
Lord Shawn @ Mar 24th 2009 5:44PM
Would you kindly explain why you chose aything but option "b)"...
FOR CHILDREN!
mcatrage @ Mar 24th 2009 5:48PM
Well in this case I don't care so I picked the stupid one.
Richard Mitchell @ Mar 24th 2009 6:28PM
The reason we have them is because people like to click on *something.* Better to click on a fake answer than pick a legitimate one for something you don't care about.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Mar 24th 2009 4:34PM
Im frankly sick of this being a news story. Lets do one feature a week on this that encapsulates that weeks name changes.
Sir Buzz Killington( The Artist formerly known as Jakka) @ Mar 24th 2009 4:37PM
Yeah...slow news day, I wouldn't mind, but given the news landfill we're having due to GDC...
tmmoore_nc @ Mar 24th 2009 4:48PM
I think there should be a choice to see if that 2 should be dropped instead of the subtitle.
butaneko @ Mar 24th 2009 4:48PM
I like it. Every time I see it I imagine a sinister opening cinema with "Sea of Love" playing in the background.
ChiTownRuler23 @ Mar 24th 2009 6:06PM
lol me 2 i pictured the opening scene to have the background music of "Sea of Love"
The Baron @ Mar 24th 2009 4:54PM
It's their game and, hopefully, their artistic product. I haven't played it and know nothing about it, so I don't know how suitable it is.
Slogo @ Mar 24th 2009 5:04PM
If I had my way I'd call it "Sea of Dreams" and nothing else but of course that'd be marketing suicide. I remember reading an article way back when by the Max Payne Designer (or other guy-in-charge) saying that he felt that games without numbers and subtitles are much better name-wise. Not so much for marketing but for the uh artistic nature of it. His example was that he wanted to call Max Payne 2 simply "The Fall of Max Payne" and at the time I thought that'd be a far better title than "Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne". The same applies to Bioshock 2, I think if it was just called Sea of Dreams it'd be much more appealing artistically.

That's not Plasmid your injecting!
mikesmith @ Mar 24th 2009 5:05PM
it should be Bioshock: The prequel, the direction in this sequel has been wrong from the start.
yojimb0 @ Mar 24th 2009 5:13PM
I can't believe I've seen 4 articles about this, this is so minor it's ridiculous.
Maverick Saturn @ Mar 24th 2009 5:16PM
Who cares about the subtitle?
If the game sucks, the subtitle won't save it, and if it is nothing but astoundingly good, people will disregard the subtitle just to play the pure awesomeness that is Bioshock 2.
Does it really require all this fuss?
LJ @ Mar 24th 2009 5:34PM
Ridiculous is the amount of attention you put to this stupid news (If they are even news). Focus on real information!
LJ @ Mar 24th 2009 5:37PM
That comment was "@joystiq"
The Baron @ Mar 24th 2009 6:35PM
It's not like they had to sacrifice an announcement for GTA5 to bring you this news
F1 @ Mar 24th 2009 7:13PM
Normally I'd insult you and your obvious lack of attention but instead I'll give you this piece of Joystiq history.

LuiginDaisy @ Mar 24th 2009 6:07PM
If 2K is going to milk the franchise, why not add a subtitle?
All of the Star Wars movies have a subtitle only, but some people still say the number in the title. Someone would say "Star Wars: Episode 6" or "Star Wars 6", instead of "Star Wars: Return of The Jedi."
It all depends on what the people want. If the subtitle Bioshock: "Sea of Dreams" was as carefully picked as Guitar Hero: "World Tour," then I say remove it, because it would only cause confusion to the casual consumer.
Sorry for the unintended alliteration.
