GDC09: The Agency and DC Universe Online coming 2010

GDC continues that idea, with Sony Online Entertainment revealing nothing more than a distant release window for both The Agency and DC Universe Online. John Smedley, president of SOE, revealed that both titles will arrive in 2010 in his keynote, "An industry perspective on how new online games will reach the masses."
We understand that it takes time to craft a solid game, especially a massive online one. However, we'd like to remind Smedley that the first step for a game to "reach the masses" involves, y'know, releasing it.

Is it just me, or does the agency look like action quake for quake 2?

The Agency is literally my most anticipated game. Not that I'm a PS3 fanboy, but there just isn't enough good spy/intrigue stuff being done these days. It's either MGS or some other military/shooting heavy game, or a game version of a spy movie which kind of takes all the intrigue out of it.

They have Alpha Protocol coming out that looks interesting. Thats one of my most anticipated games. The Agency is up there though

Seeing that title, I instantly hear the narrator from Crackdown...
Mister Bogus (Mr. ESC) @ Mar 24th 2009 4:11PM
The best thing in Crackdown was the voice of the narrator.
"The best view in the city agent..."
Yeah I guess that's an impressive dumpster.

Sony has a bad habit of announcing games 3 or 4 years before they come out. They need to keep the wraps on stuff like this until 6 months to a year before the game's release.

I don't get it. By working on the game instead of pushing hype on to people they are getting closer to releasing it.

He he... Coming...

This game will be a flash in the pan without sufficient difficulty.

Well I knew that already. If they both had come out this year or even ONE of them I would have been very shocked. The Agency is most promising tho

i just want the game so i get a text message from my agents. everything else i heard about the game was cool but that gave it something special. just get the pricing right
Grimlock @ Mar 24th 2009 6:00PM
So is 2010 the year of the PS3 now?

Looks like they have a solid '10 locked up as well now. With Mag, God Of War 3, DCU online and The Agency its already shaping up to be another great year. Personally, im hyped up for Infamous but my most anticipated game is without a doubt Heavy Rain. I think Heavy Rain is going to be one of the most unique console experiences of this generation. Especially with the story elements we have seen featured from last years GDC & E3.
JuanDHexen @ Mar 24th 2009 6:13PM
And '09.
Levi @ Mar 24th 2009 6:23PM
I'd like to be in her Agency.
Gigitty!.

If the Agency is anything like Know One Lives Forever, I'll be happy
shadowhowl1900 @ Mar 24th 2009 7:14PM
whats The Agency? first i have heard of it.
Levi @ Mar 24th 2009 7:18PM
Kind of like World of Warcraft, but it doesn't suck horribly. It's a massively multiplayer game, meaning you play with hundreds of people on the same server, do quests (or missions in this case) together, gain new abilities, etc. It's probably going to be like a 007 game that just keeps going, where you can spend like a thousand hours in the game, as well as 15 bucks a month.
Well, I dunno if they're doing a monthly fee on this one. I haven't been following it very closely.
Hayes @ Mar 24th 2009 7:42PM
The last they discussed, they were leaning away from a monthly fee... but pricing had not been finalized. But yes, it is a non-fantasy mmo where your class has to do with what type of agent you are, and you can change it throughout gameplay to fit different scenarios. In addition to gadgets, you collect specialists at your home base that add some interesting customizations to gameplay. A VERY interesting online game...

:-( I did really want The Agency to be out this year... I knew DC Universe would not make it until next year though. Hadn't heard anything about The Agency in the last year though, so I figured it had been pushed.
