When Famitsu sent word of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's existence, we thought it would be a simple port of the Xbox 360 sequel with a few additional bells and whistles. Team Ninja slashed (see what we did there?) those thoughts and have revealed that Sigma 2 will include a large chunk of content, including two new playable characters and online cooperative play.
Team Ninja fans will immediately recognize the two playable additions noted in a Gamespot preview: Dead or Alive's purple-haired ninja, Ayane, and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword's female warrior, Momiji. Each character's tale will be woven into the existing Ninja Gaiden 2 story and branch off at certain points. That's all well and good but the freshly announced online co-op is what has our interest piqued. Unfortunately, the co-op skips the main campaign and offers 30 challenge areas that are playable on four difficulty settings (presumably, Ninja Dog to ZOMGWTHBBQ!). Still, it's a surprising (and welcome) addition to what could have ostensibly been considered a simple re-release.
And for those who prefer the simpler additions, Tecmo says they're in there too. New enemies, weapons, and tweaks to the camera and gameplay are all included. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is set to land on the PlayStation 3 this fall -- the trailer is embedded after the break.

I thought the 360 version was awesome and I don't feel cheated. PS3 needs SOMETHING extra for having to wait a year

not necessarily, NG2 was under the influence that it wont be ported and also Itagaki really hates Sony. Take Dead or Alive series as an example. So yeah, Darkwun being felt cheated is justified cause that is an exclusive lost from the 360.

Ninja Gaiden 2 didn't get ported over. The PS3 is getting Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I said this was going to happen the second he made the comment of it being a 360 exclusive. I still imagine Metal Gear Solid 4 will show up on the 360 but it won't be a port it will be something retitled like Metal Gear Solid 4: Patriotic Testicular Torsion.

@Anticrawl: mgs4 is never coming to 360, get over it, kojima has specifically said
"mgs4 is never coming to 360" and he is tired of everyone saying that, however, i'm guessing kojima's next title will be multiplat

hmm, same plot, same main character, same beginning/ending. If it looks, sounds and plays the same, then its the same game. If what u say is true then is Bioshock a port or a new game for the ps3?

Kojima also said previous versions of Metal Gear Solid would never be on other consoles and they weren't, slightly altered versions were. Hell the creator of RE4 said it would never be on the PS2 and he would rather chop his own head off than port it to the PS2 (his words not mine). Team Ninja's head also said Ninja Gaiden 2 would never be on the PS3 not only because it couldn't handle his "work of art" but a bunch of other flowery things.

If Konami was even considering doing that, they better get cracking on it soon, cos all these rumours of the next metal gear and the next Zoe etc are becoming more potent, if that becomes the case, Kojima won't be the one paying any attention to the port as he'll be too busy working on the next metal gear.
Knowing Konami, even if they did release MGS4 for 360, all those same extra goodies would also appear on PS3 like they did for PS2. Or maybe I could be wrong, lets just see, give it another year, yeah? If we still see no MGS4 port, I rest my case.

Doesn't really matter at this point in time to me, I'd just rather they get MGS5 into my hands sooner then later or at least Zone of the Enders 3, I've been robot fighting starved, Armoured core was dissopointing and Gundam...well, lets not ruin the moment.

co-op is limited to challenge modes and it looks like they're taking out dismemberment.
im predicting this game to run at the same 595p or worse run at 30fps. There will definetely be some reduction wheather it means reading the number of enemies.

Well, if it runs as smoothly as the NGS I have on my shelf, who cares? Last PS3 version was superb :D

NG2 looked great, as did COD4. Who cares if they weren't technically 720p?
This is pretty much what I thought they were going to do. Slight touch up on graphics, coupled with new weapons and enemies. Unless you are looking forward to two player, non-story co-op (meh), there isn't much else than being able to play as Ayane to get excited about.
Sigma was enough of an improvement over black to get me to buy. Sigma 2 isn't enough of an improvement over NG2 to warrant anything but a rental for me. It's great that those with only PS3's will get to play the game though.
Zone of Enders 3.... *drool*
Oh, and @anticrawl - It wasn't as good as NG1, and the camera was a constant problem, but the vicious combat was still there. It wasn't a total loss.

"Unfortunately, the co-op skips the main campaign"
Unfortunately? Close your eyes for a minute and picture that game's cramped corridors and jump puzzles on co-op...there. See?

nicely done Tecmo... glad I held off on getting this.
those who purchased it for the 360 shouldn't feel that slighted - i'm pretty sure they mocked the hell out of PS3 owners about the game and "exclusivity". what goes around comes around...
that said, it should be DLC for the 360, but I doubt it will be

They shouldn't feel slighted. 360 version still keeps the blood effects:
"The mag has a quote from Hayachi saying, "Violence is not going to be one of the key selling points of this title... It's not all about how bloody it is." Instead they're going for "a much cooler, cleaner, sleeker look". So you won't see great big spurts of blood, but clouds of purple essence when enemies get dismembered."

It can't be that big of a deal. We are talking like a year or close to a year later. If it really is a big deal just pretend that Ninja Gaiden Sigma II is a completely different game. Besides, you guys have Ninja Blade coming next month which is looking pretty solid and is an exclusive.

Well, with the blood effects turned into purple neon drops, it almost seems like an entirely different game than NG2.

Dear Mr.Itagaki,
Thank you for leaving Team Ninja.
Best regards,
PS3 Owners.

On a more serious note this is awesome news especially the addition of co-op gaming. Though it's not for the main campaign it still adds some much needed replayability for this traditional single player experience. It seems sometimes good things come to those who (are forced to) wait. Examples of additional features include Bioshock, Eternal Sonata, Command & Conquer Red Alert & Ninja Gaiden II.

I hate it when they do this. I would gladly pay $20 or so to get all this content on the 360 version as DLC.

That does suck for Xbox 360 owners who own the original, even if they have had it over a year after PS3 owners get this game. They should be given an option to download the added content, and that goes for owners of all systems.
Now will we see any DOA games on the PS3 or PSP?
