When Famitsu sent word of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's existence, we thought it would be a simple port of the Xbox 360 sequel with a few additional bells and whistles. Team Ninja slashed (see what we did there?) those thoughts and have revealed that Sigma 2 will include a large chunk of content, including two new playable characters and online cooperative play.
Team Ninja fans will immediately recognize the two playable additions noted in a Gamespot preview: Dead or Alive's purple-haired ninja, Ayane, and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword's female warrior, Momiji. Each character's tale will be woven into the existing Ninja Gaiden 2 story and branch off at certain points. That's all well and good but the freshly announced online co-op is what has our interest piqued. Unfortunately, the co-op skips the main campaign and offers 30 challenge areas that are playable on four difficulty settings (presumably, Ninja Dog to ZOMGWTHBBQ!). Still, it's a surprising (and welcome) addition to what could have ostensibly been considered a simple re-release.
And for those who prefer the simpler additions, Tecmo says they're in there too. New enemies, weapons, and tweaks to the camera and gameplay are all included. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is set to land on the PlayStation 3 this fall -- the trailer is embedded after the break.

I think PS3 owners are deserving of this, its popped up way too late and the only way it was gunna draw any attention was if it was a whole new game or something like it, this isn't a whole new game, but the new additions more then make up for it.
Either you get it day 1 or you get it late with the extras, thats how things go, Red Alert did the same, Bioshock did the same etc etc

For those asking/talking about the content being 'DLC' on the 360 at a later time:
Although no official announcement was made at the event, Team Ninja does hope to support the game after launch with DLC, though 360 users will be left out. The developers have no plan to bring the extra content (both on the disc and the possible DLC) to Microsoft's current-gen console.

If it wasn't exclusive in the first place, this issue wouldn't have occured, I think DOA and Xtreme Volley Ball should go multiplat from now on as well

It's funny... Itagaki left the company, but they followed his "To make it better, add boobs" mantra.
...I can smell the downvotes coming over how bad that joke was.

Great news.
Now if only Fallout3 and GTA4 DLC gets announced, the circle will be complete.
*evil laugh*

Well...Sigma 2 is pretty much going to blow the Xbox's version out of the water.

I'm a 360 owner that finished NG2 on Master Ninja. I've recently got myself a PS3 and let me tell you that this will be a day one purchase for me.
I felt NG2 needed more content in therms of enemy variety. The playable characters and the coop appeal a lot to me. Even if I invested a lot of hours on NG2.
For those that did not play NG2 and are complaining that it will be 30fps, you did not play the game on the 360 it is a great game but it had a lot of technical glitches, I hope this time they ship the game without them.
