Rumor: EA bundling MotionPlus with Grand Slam Tennis in Europe

A listing on Amazon.de for "EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis + Wii Motion Plus" bears out CubeRevolution's claim. It appears that Nintendo really is allowing EA to bundle its first-party accessory with a third-party game in Europe this July. Amazon even took a few Euros off the price!
While it's great news that people might be able to buy a MotionPlus in July, and with more bundle options, we can't help but entertain the theory that this option frees Nintendo up to delay Wii Sports Resort past the summer.

Wow, the difference between these screenshots and the Madden one below is just staggering.
youngmike99 @ Mar 24th 2009 10:30AM
Hmm, I can't imagine why?
CitizenSnips @ Mar 24th 2009 10:33AM
at least grand slam tennis is a new game. For someone whose been playing madden for years upon years, that screen shot of Roethlisberger looks like the same damn game it has been for 3 years now.
If this tennis game is fun, i'll buy it. But Madden's got an uphill road to climb with me.
mazza_man @ Mar 24th 2009 10:35AM
Even Wii games shouldn't look this bad...but I gather they are working more on the motionplus controls then the graphics.
uncle jesse @ Mar 24th 2009 11:21AM
I love nice graphics too, but this game could look like Wii Sports Tennis and I wouldn't care. If the addition of motion plus actually makes this game play as amazingly as everyone is saying, count me in!

Except that the Wii Sports graphics are deliberately stylized, this just looks like shit.
uncle jesse @ Mar 24th 2009 11:45AM
Would you rather cartoony shit, or attempted realism shit?
Mr Khan @ Mar 24th 2009 11:51AM
Difference of opinion, i guess. I think this makes it more "realistic" than "realism," since if they had gone for a more realist art style, it would have wound up looking worse. Better for poly counts, perhaps, but worse in terms of color and lighting, etc. With this in play, it just looks so much smoother.

I still can't believe it's taken this long to get another tennis game on this system.
Mr Khan @ Mar 24th 2009 11:49AM
There have been others, just none of particular note.
Mr Khan @ Mar 24th 2009 11:51AM
It certainly muddies the question of Wii Sports Resort's release date to no end. It also opens up the possibility of this game's sales to go off into the stratosphere.

The next Wii Play?
zzyzx @ Mar 24th 2009 12:17PM
I hope they do this in the states, too. It would allow me to officially not care about Wii Sports Resort, which I would just as soon not own.
Assuming Grand Slam Tennis plays like it's been advertised, I'd play it in a heartbeat over Top Spin w/ dual analog control.
If I want to gawk at hot women playing tennis in a realistic environment, I'll watch the **** tennis channel.
aznstorm @ Mar 24th 2009 2:51PM
There is no way Nintendo will pass up first dibs on software sales from a MotionPlus bundle. I'm gonna guess that (if this bundle is actually true) Wii Sports Resort is to be released before this, not even simultaneously.
Mr.Nitemare @ Mar 24th 2009 10:57PM
i think this is good idea, maybe Nintendo should think about letting third parties bundle some of their peripheral with some of the hardcore games so that more people will buy them.. for instance if a really good game like boom blox or no more heroes (and other "hardcore" games)were bundled with a discounted wii remote or other interesting peripheral at less the cost of buying it seperate it would heighten hardcore game sales and in turn heighten interest in developers developing these games for the system
pecus @ Apr 23rd 2009 6:40AM
Amazon.de does not list the combo anymore, just the game.
More speculation as to whether Wii Sports Resort will be released in june welcome...
