Oil up that Lancer, Gears of War 2 fans, because we've got a juicy rumor you'll want to dig your chainsaw into. One very thorough user over at the Gears of War forum deduced via Geoff Keighley's Twitter and an alleged Asian product page (pictured) that the Gears 2 DLC train won't make its final stop at Snowblind. It appears the train will keep chugging along to its next stop, "Dark Corners," which may be announced during GDC09 this week.
The above image says that 'Dark Corners' will be arriving in April some time, after Snowblind, but that's really all we have to go on right now. We'll be sure to update as soon as we have more information.

i don't think gears has any understanding of what "good timing" means. releasing 3 map packs within the year of launch what do they think this is rock band!?

So wait, you're one of those people from another country playing with a US account so when the game selects you as host it makes it laggy as crap for all of us to the point where we can barely make our way out of the spawn after 5 minutes?
Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Jeez, another one?
I love playing Gears 2 online, despite the issues, but I did not buy the first map pack.
I will not buy the one coming out next
And I will not be buying this one.
Seriously, 10 bucks for a few new maps is not a good deal to me. The $30 you spend on these packs could have been better spent on some great XBLA games like Braid or something.

Same here, I refuse to pay for any map pack unless there is something new given like the COD:WAW pack that has a new kick @$$ zombie mode.

I'm with those who are saying that this is too much DLC too fast. When I'm playing with a group of friends, there's always a few who don't have the maps, so we hardly ever play the new maps, which means even fewer of us buy the next new set of maps.
The Halo 2/3 approach would be better - slow the rollout of the DLC, cut the price or make it free in 6 months once the next map pack comes out. That way everyone ends up with the maps eventually, so they actually get played a bunch.

GOW1 maps that still aren't DLC for GOW2
(I've highlighted my candidates for Dark Corners):
Bullet Marsh
**Clocktower**
Escalation
Garden
Mausoleum
Old Bones
Process
Raven Down
**Rooftops**
War Machine

I think War Machine and Raven Down are more likely to be in it, they always seemed to be pretty popular when i played on Gears 1. Personally I'd like to see Mausoleum and Old bones. That would be sweet. I love those maps.

I did not enjoy GoW2 - I played it for a good hour and gave up. It just didn't feel right to me...I guess I'll pick it up again on eBay or something.

Too bad it's already been translated numerous times to read "Map Pack", eh?

The new Gears ranking system is going to ruin this game because it will take away everything that matters in the game and ruin online play.
