I know some people are shitting on it because it's Metallica (hurr hurr Napster, hurr hurr sellouts...yeah, enough already), but the demo was fun and some of the "guest acts" are fucking awesome...never thought I'd see a Samhain or Diamond Head song in a game like this. Will probably pick this up next week.

That said, it's creepy seeing Kirk with gray hair. I feel old.

Not me. I'm shitting on it because it's Guitar Hero.

I'm shitting on it because it Guitar Hero (DLC usage is gimped on the Wii in GT:WT), because it's Metallica (hurr hurr they stunk before they didn't like Napster), and how lame the halvsie games are now that all three systems do the whole DLC thing. Back on the PS2, sure, made sense then. Now, not so much.

Let's just say this, GH:WT was not a buy, it was a rent.

I hate Metallica, but this is definitely a buy.

Metallica will never get any money from me. Since they alienated their fans they don't deserve money.

Kirk and James is still cool though. Just guilty by association.

Tis' a shame Jump in the Fire, Damage Inc., Phantom Lord, Harvester of Sorrow, and a lot of other songs won't be in there. I mean come on! Jump in the fire!

Holy crap Kirk is old. He was nasty (as in good) during the first four albums. Then came the black album...

Well, that's the beauty of this. Yes, the game will ship with a set list of songs, but the possibilities are endless! Think about all the DLC that will come over the years for this game.

I agree with you on Hammett as well. Especially, Master of Puppets and Justice. That was his best work.

There isn't going to be any DLC for GH metallica, activision said so themselves.

Pickin this up first thing sunday morning. I've already seen most of the songs in action thanks to a lucky bastard on youtube who got the game early. That is, before Activision went ahead and blocked them all (I mean really activision? We already know all the songs, what's the point?)

Good luck to anyone trying to FC War Ensemble on drums on expert+

I'll be renting this one as soon as I can. I wish "The Unforgiven" was on the demo, then I wouldn't even have to do that.

It's really sad what has happened to Guitar hero. Motion Capture? That's the least important thing in a guitar/rockband game. Long live Harmonix and Rock Band.

Lars "Introduce a whole new generation to Metallica" = $$$$. Lars is the biggest douche bag in the industry! Watch the Metallica documentary where he cries over selling his painting for millions of dollars.....douche....

Yeah and I'll never forget the Napster thing... I was the biggest fan of Metallica when he went nuts about pirating. Sure, it's not right to pirate their music, but DAYUM, they'd be the last band I'd think would freak seeing as they seemed to actually love making music, are riiiiiich, and make shit tons at concerts among tons of other things...

Get over it... Napster was over 10 years ago. It's their property... it's their right... If you don't like it, shut up and go listen to your shitty "Dude Rock" like Godsmack or Nickelback.

@Punisher: Naw, don't have to get over it. :) As I said, it's not that I think we should pirate their music but Lars' attitude was embarrassing to us fans. It also let people see what really matters to him. Not that it's wrong for money to be high priority, but fans just never saw him in that light before.

Cellion - how was it "the fans" who were bothered - it was "the Internet" because he went after their favourite toy of the time & they had to find another way of nicking music.

The people who hated metallica for it, always hated metallica but hated them louder when they did that. The ones who were so-called fans were the same ones who had been calling them sell-outs since 1989, not the ones who were STILL going to the shows.

Tried this out (the demo) on my Rock Band guitar.. I chanced it as the GH:WT demo I got from OXM didn't support RB instruments.. I felt so much easier to get the notes compared to RB (upto medium or hard??) I didn't try any higher, cause I can't alternate pic on RB (I have a wireless first wave), the dead zone on it is rediculous.. then too, having some ability on guitar that, I'm having to hold a button for open E's, making some riffs far more difficult than they actually are..

I only really like Metallica for the first 3 albums, but I'm tempted by this as it's in a closer ballpark to what I enjoy listening to

first off: METALLICA RULES! HETFIELD IT GOD!!! (name the movie) any way, so my f'n xbox had to go all RROD on me (3rd xbox FTW) and now i can't play the damn game till whenever it comes back from repair. life is cruel then it takes Metallica away from you. i d/l'd the demo before the crash and it rocked. i am contemplating buying a new one just so i can play Orion alone. (not really but in a perfect world)

I think it's too bad they couldn't get or maybe didn't want Jason Newstead to do mocap on a lot of the content since he was an integral part of the band for so many years.

I got to go to his last concert and they rocked my socks off. =P

I hear they're already on their Death Magnetic tour... I wanna go see them for a third time.

El Punisher, He is a big baby. Other artists love making music for the music. He just decided to have a hissy fit because he couldn't get that island he always wanted (SP reference ftw) I was a fan but, his true colors were obviously green. Not black like the rest of Rock n Roll! To hell with him. IMO

Modok: Mine just E74'ed. :( They wont do anything either, I tried to wrap it up in towels and have it rrod but it just fixed it for an hour or so, then it E74'ed again. It got hotter than hell and still didn't rrod, which is kinda weird I guess. Oh well. Yeah, Probably a double post. My bad guys.

If KRK's greying hair makes you feel old, consider these facts:

1. Cliff Burton died more than 22 years ago.
2. Rob Trujillo has now been a member of Metallica for longer than Cliff ever was.

I'm a huge fan of Metallica and Guitar Hero, fucking sue me. I don't dislike Rock Band, but that's more of a family friendly party game. For people who want a challenge, Guitar Hero is the way to go. Definitely picking this up.
