GDC09: Bungie to produce more Halo 3 content, probably for 'two more years'

ODST not enough to fill your Halo fix? Don't worry -- seems Bungie will continue producing more Halo 3 content in the future. "Halo 3 took two and a half years to make, and we're still working on it," producer Allen Murray said. "We'll probably be working on it for two more years."

Some may be wondering why Bungie felt a need to break away from Microsoft if they seem content working on the Halo series for all of eternity. According to Bungie's GDC panel, the team is currently working on a number of projects, something Bungie never had the capacity to do. Since then, the team has expanded considerably, allowing Bungie to pursue non-Halo projects.

Bungie's growth seems to parallel the path of another acclaimed FPS developer: Valve. Perhaps Halo can follow Half-Life's footsteps: expanding episodically, whilst introducing innovative concepts like Portal.

Sweet, so we're going to have like 6 Halo 3 map packs for 10$ on the marketplace

Besides the fact that Bungie has said explicitly that ODST is the last of the content for Halo 3, I can't imagine them releasing more maps in 2011. That's crazy. He couldn't have possibly meant what it sounds like

Oh man that's great news, I was just getting worried I wouldnt be able to have my halo fix for a long time after Bungie said they're working on non Halo products. I'm still worried that Halo 4 won't be made by Bungie though.

I'm confused, are you saying the Halo series lost to COD4?

playing halo 3 online sucks now.nobody is ever playing custom games and when the do, their playing those gay mlg shit. Same with matchmaking, out of the entire list of people playing, there is about 1 or 2 people that arent mlg fags. There are also barely any playlist that you can play if you dont have the legendary maps. ya, so MLG sucks ass. VIDEO GAMES IS NOT A SPORT!! GET OVER IT! BECAUSE OF YOU I CANT PLAY HALO 3 LIKE I USED TO, AND I CAN NEVER TEA BAG BECAUSE I ONLY GET A COUPLE OF KILLS!
