I'm personally hoping it's compatible with whatever they bring out in a few years, because I'm not ready for another purchase just yet.

This is bull. I'm not buying a DSi for DSi only games when the graphics capabilities are exactly the same. Nintendo is just being 'old' Nintendo evil now. They have completely lost me as a consumer. I haven't touched a Nintendo console in about 8 months, which really is the first time that's happened for me in 20 years when I started playing when I was 2. I'm very sad now.

We don't know if the graphics will be the same yet. The CPU is better. More ram than the N64, I believe. May not be a Huge improvement over DS games, but DSi games might just look better.

Let's see if this stops the piracy. But knowing the pirating world, it'll only be a matter of time till they find a way around it. I'll give em a month before they find a way to runs roms off of the sd card slot on the DSi.

Personally I lived through getting the view of people being hosed by the GBC only titles. I know as my brother still works in games (I used to) they intend to keep it around for a very long time, just as Sony says PSP is a 10year thing too so as long as Sony won't force them, they'll sit 'n spin. In a couple years much stuff won't run on the old DS/Lite and you'll get forced. That's my problem, it's an eventual force. I'm looking to move later in the year, and I have a few hundred dollars from a birthday recently lying around so I just figured F'it. I'm pissed it's $170 as the PSP gives a crap load more for the price, and at +$30 a PSP is a bundle with 2 games, movie, 1GB in memory, etc while to get all that I'd be blowing another $100 on Nintendo. Not cool. BUT...with the move, knowing the stupidity of this mess it will cause in time, and the fact I can buy it for $100 not out of pocket with the $70 trade-in at Gamestop I figured whatever. Considering I get another $10(1000pts) to buy crap with it's really $90 for the thing.

Son of a bee...

I knew this was going to happen. I'm not buying a Lite until they:

1) Make a way for Guitar Hero to work on it (without buying anything new)
2) Lower the price
3) Make it in colors that don't suck.

These are my demands, Nintendo! *shakes fist*

DSi-only carts? Huge, huge mistake, Nintendo...

If Nintendo was planning to do this, they should have changed the name of the DSi to something entirely different. Parents aren't likely to distinguish between a normal Nintendo DS game and these new DSi-only titles.

Also, exactly how is the packaging going to look? Will it simply be the black-on-white "Nintendo DS" moniker with an extra "i" on the box, or are we going to get extra colored dots in addition to the already confusing Nintendo Wi-Fi dot labels?

This is going to be a nightmare for retail outlets...

eh, I saw this coming, but I'm still in no rush to get a DSi. I usually wait a few months for some solid games before actually purchasing a console (yes I've never bought a console at release and I don't think that's going to change any time soon.)
