GDC09: Nintendo reveals Rock and Roll Climber

This isn't entirely unexpected -- the title showed up on the ESRB database last week, but Nintendo apparently wasn't ready to tell us about it!

Geoff Keighley should really be ashamed of himself for being in this game.
I've lost all respect for him...

Oh man, you missed the best part!
Mr Khan @ Mar 25th 2009 1:03PM
So in no way shape or form a spiritual successor to Ice Climber then
Oh well, Nice to see Nintendo taking more initiative in the WiiWare space.

Yeah, now they can release their tech demos online instead of including them on a disc with the system.
D_Average @ Mar 25th 2009 1:08PM
Even though the actual rock climber looks a bit cheesy, even the hardcore must admit that the algae on the right looks truly next gen. Nintendo is back!!
Evan @ Mar 25th 2009 1:51PM
Yes, alpha-blended terrain is "next gen"...
Nadril @ Mar 25th 2009 1:12PM
Wonder if that rock climber knows he is about to hit his head on the sky plane.
Blue @ Mar 25th 2009 1:13PM
This is a joke post, yes? it's like Nintendo isn't even trying anymore.
zero2dash @ Mar 25th 2009 2:11PM
They haven't been trying for awhile. Why should they when this is the case...

I turned mine on for the first time in like 6 months the other day. I spent 5 minutes on the Homebrew channel, and the Wii was put back to sleep again.
xFenixKnightx @ Mar 25th 2009 1:43PM
Crappy game is crappy!
Deck @ Mar 25th 2009 1:53PM
This looks awful!
Mike @ Mar 25th 2009 2:12PM
My oh my, the shitstorm continues.
Diskoboy7 @ Mar 25th 2009 2:15PM
This crap comes out, yet they still won't release the Wii version of Crazy Climber, here in the US??
This is precicely why I sold my Wii.
The Wii is the new Atari 2600 - It's one of three "current gen" consoles, and the Wii, being the least powerful of the 3, is the top selling console, and to make matters worse, the Wii has become a dumping ground for less-than-stellar titles, and Nickelodeon/Disney shovelware.
I guess Nintendo's "Seal of Quality" no longer means ANYTHING, anymore.
Pvt. Joker @ Mar 25th 2009 4:11PM
somewhere at Nintendo Coroprate some exec just read these posts and quietly shreded plans for "Wii-Wave" "Wii-change-teh-calendar-to-next-month" and "Wii-clean-the-dishes"
Maulok @ Mar 25th 2009 5:16PM
Wii-clean-the-dishes, you had me at hello!
Collymilad @ Mar 25th 2009 4:11PM
You know the sad thing is Nintendo's success is only going to cut down the amount of quality games we get across all platforms.
What happens when everyone works out how to sell crap like this? Whats the incentive to spend time making a quality game when you can just shovel turd like this all over the faces of consumers.
Damn Nintendo to hell.
Ryan Hamilton @ Mar 25th 2009 4:56PM
Sweet it looks like those spam ad mini games. That send you to a spam site when you win. Wii is really setting the bar high here...HAHAHA!

After reading this article, I have one thing to say:
wut
(01) @ Mar 25th 2009 7:21PM
I used to climb a fair amount, and have been known to flair on my own air guitar. So I think I've played this...
