Have you seen everything there is to see in the Red Bull Air Race? Have you met with gamers in the Warhawk and Resident Evil 5 spaces? Hankering for more? No problem -- Sony's online community is rapidly expanding, whether you want it to or not. Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home, promised GDC attendees that "you'll see about three new spaces launched a month." Unsurprising, considering the 20+ companies signed up to make content for the service.
Surprisingly, Home has already accumulated quite a following, with over 5 million users worldwide, 2.2 million in North America. According to Buser, a "good space" will get a quarter of a million visits each week, with 75 percent of its users spending more than 10 minutes online. For advertisers, that looks like quite the sweet number.
Buser didn't reveal a timeline of future Home spaces, but we do know that EA Sports and Guitar Hero will be getting new Home communities very soon.

I'm glad that Home is taking off. I was on the fence about it in the beginning. I'm still not 100% sure what the point is, but I like that it is growing. It will hopefully turn into a really good online space.

I would be more pleased if they cut down the load time between spaces.

or if there was some way to download spaces in the background while i do other stuff outside of Home. i'd much rather play a game than sit in my room and wait for the rest of the world to download (which i have to do EVERY time they release a new update). that's really what made me stop using it, i got tired of waiting on stuff to download.

@CoolCurt: Yeah, you'd think that they'd integrate the Home downloads into the PSN, so on hooray-for-the-updates-Thursdays you could snatch the latest Home content in the background.

Well thats rather interesting. Home very well could be what we all want it too in the not so distant future. Now all we need is more games that unlock Home items AND Trophies for the Mini-games....oh and to be able to play music in our house for all to hear or at the very least play music over Home for our own ears

Yeah, I wasn't feeling Home at launch, but it's slowly growing into something worth checking out every now and again. I actually would spend a buck here and a buck there to pimp out my place. And this Xi thing seems pretty interesting.

2.2 million users means 2.2 people downloaded it and used it at least once. How does that stack up to the number of people downloading and playing game demos? Or the number of people playing other online games?

I can't wait to see Home a year from now. Hopefully it gets more interesting. Other than Xi, it's a snooze fest.

I go on and play pool all the time.. I cant be bothered to load up a proper game at night.. I have actually made about 10 friends already on home.. A girl from Belgium I was playing pool with, some other random people I have had a laugh with as well..
The helicopter game ain't bad either..
When voice was active I was taking the piss out of some Scottish girl playing bowling.. Its a chilled out environment man..
If you go onto home, its never empty no matter what time of day, I mean this seriously..
I wish they would update the physics add running jumping basically allow you to do some mad stunts in there as well (free running sort of ), it would take home into another dimension.

Hopefully this is the start of the real potential that we all know Home has.
I reckon if Sony had just held out a bit longer and waited until it had some more spaces in Home before launching, the whole perception of Home could have been different from the current perception of "it's boring".

it's crazy they had to wait til GDC to announce this. i honestly really wish they hadn't released Home until all this stuff was ready. people were begging for it so much though that they released it as soon as it was working and now there is nothing to do in there. im hoping it gets better because it's really not that enjoyable right now but it has the potential to replace the XMB as the main PS3 interface if they would get the ball rolling.

It's executives like Jack Buser who really shouldn't be allowed to speak. He honestly must know that Home is never going to get at least 3 new spaces each month. He's just setting up more reasons for the ps3's earned name of delaystation. He really should of just said nothing so ps3 users wouldn't get their hopes up only to be inevitably let down.

So does this mean "Central Plaza" might actually expand? Might Sony US actually make the theater a multiplex (Home EU) instead of a hang out? I am interested into how everything gets integrated in, there is not flow right now.
The way I see it if you bought or got for free the summer home, that should have its own Central Plaza for game specific map content. The place is already on the water why not have the Red Bull thing down the road one way and along the way is the RE5, Uncharted and whatever else game maps from there.
For the main Plaza why not expand it so I can go to the marina that is right outside everyone's place? Add pathways or streets to get to The EA complex whenever that gets here and the Warhawk area. Rather than doing the Beam me up Scottie thing.
When is the mall actually going to fill up or is Sony trying to make it like a real life mall, empty? Where is the TV that people were supposed to have?
Back to the subject sorta so I should plan on having to redownload Central Plaza 3 times a month along with everything thing else and is the 3+ gigs that I had to partition on my drive going to be enough to hold this great content?

LMFAO @ these comments...honestly, I never thought I'd see the day where people would actually complain about having to download DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT...
You guys need some fresh air...Home's not bad at all; you're only bored on Home because you lack social skills...even the numerous internet pedophiles that constantly get ignored on Home find a way to have fun on it, yet you all can't...these are sad times indeed...

Then you must not be very social then. Home is full of people to have a laugh with, try the dance floor.
