Yeah, it came out in Rock Band 2... nearly eight months after it was available in Guitar Hero. I don't wanna wait eight more months to play it in Guitar Hero!

I thought the solution would be simple...

Play Rock Band 2?

"Any Way You Want It" and soon "Don't Stop Believin". It makes sense right?

Oh, snap! The writer of the article got downvoted. But I don't know how you could have screwed this one up. Is it really that hard to memorize all of the 4 songs that aren't shared by both games?

The solution is simple..
Tell the rock band people and guitar hero people that new games every year arent' necessary. Have them make up, work together, and take an extra year and create the best music game ever RockHero!
Yeah.. like that'll ever happen.

Combining Rock Band and Guitar Hero would just lead to a product worse than Rock Band.

What? That's what I think of every time I hear this song now.

Why are you damning Harmonix? They are the ones who are actually trying to create a platform for music rhythm games by giving users the ability to export songs from their previous Rock Band game to eliminate the swapping disc part.

Plus, it's competition between Neversoft and Harmonix. You're bound to see the same songs on each series and then some exclusives just like how it is in the console world. It's like asking Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo to befriend one another and make the holy grail of consoles.

I have been waiting for this song since Guitar Hero 2 ¬_¬

"Damn you, Harmonix! Can't we just settle on some magical system that lets you play the songs in BOTH games, without making us have to swap discs in the process?"

Hahaha, they're both on Rock Band 2. Do some research.

But to people who purchased Guitar Hero and don't want to have to blow $60 on a new game, this is crappy solution. The real solution (I'm looking at you, music publishers) is to quit with the exclusives already and sell 'em on BOTH platforms.

money speaks volumes... the real solution probably won't net them as big as a profit which is most likely due to the amount of money given to them to make it exclusive in the first place. making it exclusive probably takes more than just DLC sales into account, but potentially the game too as it becomes another marketing point (i.e. we have this, they don't).

it's an investment, exclusivity that is... i.e. halo and metal gear solid are exclusive titles and due to their prestige, become system sellers. it's to the console manufacturer's best interest to keep them exclusive as while it may have been costly to do so, they end up moving more systems into people's homes and hopefully gain their consumer dollar for future games/services/etc.

i'm not too well versed in this whole field so that's all just my speculation.

Kevin, if you're saying I misunderstood, then I'm sorry for saying "Do some research." You said "Damn you Harmonix," so naturally I was only thinking about Rock Band, which has both songs.

I really don't mind Harmonix making money hand-over-fist on me. This is the kind of gaming experience I'm happy to pay for. Frankly though, I like when a week's DLC is a mixture of stuff I don't care for and maybe one or two song's I need to have, rather than an entire album I want like Stevie Ray Vaugh. $2 a week is fine, but $15 a week is an addiction.

I fucking hate this song and everyone who loves it. When it goes on at a bar and people go "Yeaaahh!" and start singing it, i really just want to chuck my pintglass at somebody. But "Separate Ways" is a great song.

WTF @ the author??? Yelling at Harmonix for picking a Journey song (presumably one that he even LIKES) as DLC for RB2, because it won't also work with GH? Huh? Ummm... different franchises, dude.

Actually, never mind. I meant to say, "Damn you Burger King for giving out paper crowns to kids when they come in. Can't you find some way to make those crowns available for McDonalds to give to kids too???"

Dear Mr. Kelly,

The pointing at Guitar Hero for not having a song that Rock Band IS getting in the newspost is completely unnecessary. Does any other writer do the same in the weekly DLC reports for Rock Band or Guitar Hero regularly? No.

Besides... Rock Band is the one game thats trying to prevent disc-swapping on the market. If you purchase a Guitar Hero game, you should know by now that Activision is out for your money and will make you buy another $60 game within months of one coming out for certain (and probably better) song selections.

P.S. Also, judging by the other Rock Band Pat Benatar post, it seems like you haven't been having too great of a day. Here's hoping it only gets better!

Can anyone even begin to imagine how much money, at $2 per download, Harmonix/EA stand to make from this one song?
