GDC09 Rumor: Rumor is a Battlefield, new Pat Benatar Rock Band incoming

Amidst the drunkenness at the Harmonix Rock Band party, we learned that Pat Benatar's "other really popular song" is headed to Rock Band 2. If you rule out "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (Guitar Hero 3 launch and Rock Band via DLC) and "Heartbreaker" (Guitar Hero: World Tour), that pretty much leaves "Love Is A Battlefield" as the likely contender.

Either that, or they'll go for something super obscure like "Somebody's Baby" from her 1993 "Gravity's Rainbow" album. Uh ... not that we knew that off-hand or anything.

[Update! Our drunken source was COMPLETELY WRONG! The new Rock Band song is indeed "Heartbreaker." So how about it, music gods? People are crying out for Love is a Battlefield, and a lot more Bena-tunage. What's next?]

I don't know if I don't read the news right or if you just messed up the second time today, guys. But Hit Me With Your Best Shot is already in Rock Band as DLC...

Granted, it just came out a couple weeks ago, but yeah. I definitely have it, and no, I'm not ashamed.

The part about Hit Me With Your Best Shot in Rock Band was actually in there in the same parentheses before it was edited. Not sure how we "messed up" the first time. Apparently stating an idea is a TOTAL MISTAKE!

I really hope they release "We Belong", that'd be a much better party song imo.

You know... the one that moaned about the lack of "Anyway You Want It" in Rock Band... Which is an on-disc song in Rock Band 2... People still don't really get what you were trying to say.

The way this article here is written, I am just saying that I am not sure whether you are trying to state that we DON'T have "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", or not. Because we do. It is a DLC song that is available now for $2 (160 Microsoft Points).

But don't worry about the sloppy writing. It's probably just one of those days when some things just don't go right. We all have those. ;)

Well the point is actually "There's a brand new Pat Benatar song coming to Rock Band," it wasn't anything about "Hit Me With Your Best Shot." It just got stripped out of the parentheses in the post for some reason. That happens when you're running around a show and your post goes through a couple of different hands.

Anyhow, the point in the other article was "Don't Stop Believin' coming to Rock Band!", and then in the last graf I was bitching that these titles should just drop simultaneously for both big Guitar games. It's like putting a song on iTunes, but not the Zune (which does happen). It's just annoying.

And thanks for the dialogue about it, rather than jumping into douchebag territory. That's rare on the net these days.

Since RB/RB2 already has "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," why can't the other song be "Heartbreaker"? Did Harmonix specifically say that the new DLC song wasn't in any other music games? It's not very clear from this post.

It's probably better to understand why these two posts read as though you were maybe not as well-informed as you should be (and as I now realize, you are well-informed) than to take it personally and call a reader a douchebag. I'm not ashamed to say that I would squeal like a school girl if Love is a Battlefield came. I love that song!

You want a 5 star vocal song "We Live For Love" trying singing that one on expert. I would love to have that song, Shadows of the Night, All Fired Up, Hell is for Children, Heartbreaker, Invincible, Treat Me Right, Promises in the Dark. Pat Benatar is one of the hardest rockin ladies of all time and she can sing like no one else.

There's like 5 Pat Benatar songs that would be awesome. We need more than one. Please.
