Chris and Justin landed in San Francisco for GDC yesterday, but they fought through their jet lag to bring you a show, brief though it may be.
So, if you want to hear all that we're legally allowed to tell you about Brütal Legend, Ninja Gaiden Sigma II and how consoles as you know them are dead ... or not, you need to tune in.

There's going to be at least 1 more this week, and if they can only do one it'll probably drop Friday.

Now that I have my bag of chips all I need is tall glass of Robert Lossia's Minute Maid orange juice and I'm set!

The podcast was only 23 minutes long--couldn't you wait to open the chips and eat until after it ended? You have no idea (or maybe you do, which is worse) how annoying and gross listening to someone eating is through headphones--not to mention unprofessional--I expect stuffing one's face from Justin, but I expect more from you, Mr. Grant.

I'm 100% positive that Mr. Grant purposefully opened the bag of chips as close as possible to the microphone, and then leaned his face toward the mic to take the first bite, which was rewarded with a gurgle of delight from Justin in the background.

God, it's as if Ranelar was there.
That is, in fact, exactly what happened.

I know the eating thing is a big joke. But, it's SO played out for podcast to go out of their way to let everyone know how shitty their production is. I think both the podcast and gaming comunites have grown up enough by now to where it's just not funny. It's annoying and it hurts your number of listeners.
I know. You say you really don't care. It's just hard for me to advocate my friends listen to this stuff when it's so stereotypically childish.

Mr. Grant's chewing was exceptionally obnoxious I couldn't finish the podcast. Please don't do that again.

Stopped listening about minute 10. Nothing worse than the sound of someone eating chips. Hell, I'll hang up on friends for doing that on the phone. Poor form Grant, poor form.

Poor Justin's just wasting away, so he had no choice but to eat some chips at that exact moment.
Wait, what do you mean Justin's another tubby games journalist who enjoys his oily snack foods and doesn't care that eating chips on air makes the podcast unlistenable? He surely must care because he's trying to take the lead on the podcast to please his dad.
At least it's less creepy than deep breathing right into the mic.

Yup, that guaranteed that we'll hear more of Justin eating right into the microphone in the future.

Man, am I the only one who was sublimely entertained by the chip eating? I actually lol'd (not just lqtm) at work while listening to it. As soon as I heard the sound of a chip bag, I knew the next couple minutes would be comedy gold.

This podcast reminded me of Matt Hazard. A lot of people have been talking about how the fatal flaw with Matt Hazard is that it's this game that makes fun of lots of crappy conventions in gaming by implementing them in the game. The problem is obviously that, regardless of whether it was made as a joke or not, you're still stuck playing a crappy game. Kind of like my feelings on mullets: i.e. whether or not you have a mullet as a joke, you're still walking around with a mullet looking like a douche. So the reason that I was reminded of this is the fact that, whether or not you're eating chips into the mic as a joke, you're still EATING FREAKING CHIPS RIGHT INTO THE MIC!!!!!!!!! I know that yelling on the internet is really passé, but whatever. Honestly, I couldn't listen to the podcast. I turned it off. Maybe it was good. Who knows. I think you were talking about some magic set top box that lets you play games, but I'm not sure because not only was Chris eating into the mic, but his mic was turned up about 10 times louder than Justin's.
Other than that, great show. Best 6 minutes I've listened to in a long time. Keep it up, Joystiqers.

Fantastic descriptions of how OnLive works, when you guys aren't bogged down and you're just talking about crap like that, the podcasts always end up fantastic

When I first saw the post about OnLive on Joystiq, I quickly passed over it thinking it was just another doomed console that would never have a chance of competing with the already established consoles.
But, wow. Thanks for talking about this system in the podcast. I really had no idea we were this close to cloud gaming.
It's really not a complicated concept, but the details are in the implementation. Making this work is going to be one hell of a tough job, and it's not something one company can do. I applaud OnLive's effort, but this just isn't going to work on the Internet. The bandwidth constraints, and especially the unavoidable latency issue, are just too significant for cloud gaming to work right now. We're going to need a new and much faster global network in order for this to really happen. Give it a few decades, and we'll be there, though.
Also, Justin, about using OnLive's video encoding technology for video conferencing, it's an interesting idea, but until we know more about how the encoding technology itself works, it's kind of a moot point.
And everyone who's complaining about Chris' chip eating needs to get a sense of humor.

Anyone else notice that Justin used the phrases, "... if it works as promised..." and "theoretically" at least 400 times?

It has nothing to do with humor. That sound was literally painful.
I listen to the podcast on headphones and I had to turn them up to hear Justin who was in the background. All of a sudden this incredibly loud obnoxious noise exploded out and I had to remove my headphones it was so uncomfortable. Then, he continued to needlessly shake the bag for the rest of the segment. LAME.
All of you who weren't bothered by it were not listening with headphones I assure you. Either that or you have some sort of hearing loss.
