New Staff of Kings trailer promises to make you 'feel more like Indy'
Who hasn't pretended to be Indiana Jones when they were a kid? According to this new trailer (after the cut), you can finally get rid of the hat and whip and get the full Indy experience by playing the upcoming Wii version of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. The new trailer highlights the various controls made possible by the Wii Remote: punching, rowing, and -- wait for it -- whipping.
Hopefully, the team at LucasArts can get the controls right to fully capture the feel of being Indiana Jones. With that ouf of the way, we can focus on pretending to be the second-best Harrison Ford character:Han Solo the president in Air Force One.

I still don't really know how I feel about this game...

As long as it's not like SW:TFU Wii then I'm fine with it. That game killed my wrists

I think I may have to get this. It can't possibly be as bad as The Crystal Skulls. Who knows, maybe it will even erase those memories or help me cope with them.

I want this. But I also want them to improve the graphics. But my guess is that's not gonna happen, as it appears they're making a flat version for the Wii, PS2 and PSP. Shame.

I can already tell this game is going to be mediocre at best. Here's how I can tell:
They say: "You get to be Indy! Swing your whip! Go on adventures! Topple a BOOKCASE!!! YOU HAVE TO BURN THE GIANT ENEMY SPIDER FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE". This translates to "We don't know, man."
If it had been awesome, they would have said: "You get to be Indiana-motherfucking-jones! Now enjoy some gameplay footage.".
On a completely unrelated note, the combat reminds me of Godfather: Blackhand edition.

I liek how the bookcase hit the badguy, but Indy was completely unaffected. Lolz.

I hate it when enemys dissappear after they are defeated. You win a big fight with a dozen enemies and the room is empty. It also makes me fear that if you return to an area the enemies respawn. Mega Man is the only game where I find that acceptable.

In most games, enemies disappear due to graphic limitations. If you kill 30 spiders and their corpses stay, you're using extra memory/graphics etc to keep the game aware of all the corpses.
This game could be good. It looks like good ol Indiana scenarios. Sure the graphics aren't amazing, but their not bad either...
As long as there is no "Hide in the fridge before the nuke goes" mini game.

Uck! That screenshot looks terrible! That's worse then a N64 game!
Gemini Ace @ Mar 25th 2009 9:48AM
Crystal Skull killed any love I had for Indy.

Yeah honestly what is the deal with that screenshot? That was the best Indiana Jones image you could find?
Mike @ Mar 25th 2009 10:07AM
Never mind, I just watched the video, it's totally appropriate.
sam @ Mar 25th 2009 6:10PM
What did they compress that video with, a sledgehammer? The actual game graphics are surely not as bad as that (there are a few brief moments when it almost resolves into some kind of detail before vanishing again).
I'm sure they are not great, but you know, they won't actually have video compression artefacts all over them - and the Wii probably doesn't even have enough processing power to render that amount of blur effect.

Is this game releasing on the PS1??? Check out that screenshot!
Josh @ Mar 25th 2009 12:36PM
Been a while since I've seen a lifebar in an action game.
rov947 @ Mar 25th 2009 2:01PM
Makes you wonder what happened with the 360/PS3 game considering before canning it, years went into the tech and it even was far enough along for a cover story or two.
Maulok @ Mar 25th 2009 2:45PM
I want to be excited for this game so badly I can taste it. Unfortunately they keep releasing screenshots and videos that crush my childhood spirits :-(
Uncharted + Whip + Hat = Maulok's best game evar!!!1!

It looks like it plays a lot like Godfather: Blackhand Edition, which was easily one of the better games for the Wii. The hand to hand combat and shooting worked great, so if the gameplay is anything like it, I'm all aboard.
