This week on XBLA in Brief, we look at UNO RUSH, a speedy new take on the classic card game. Players have to adjust their hands quickly and play as many cards as possible on every turn. It sounds easy, but each turn is only a few seconds long, meaning you have to plan ahead. Check out the video above and see if UNO RUSH will be pulling 800 from your account.

Certainly an interesting game, there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot to it considering it's a $10 download. This could have easily been DLC for the original (though I guess we wouldn't have gotten the snazzy new graphics, which really look great) for $5 max, or they could have at least included the original game.
Also, the 4 player cap is silly. This would be great fun with 6-8 people. At least when I was growing up, we always played UNO with a lot of people. Had four or five UNO decks mixed together in a zip-lock to accommodate.
One thing I really hate is that the computer can't tell you have no moves. You still have to wait your turn time. It gets really bad when none of the players can play. It must have gone through three rotations before someone drew a card that could be played, all the while no one was able to do anything.
Cool new twist on a classic game, but it's in such a lousy package. A puzzle mode might have made this worthwhile at $10, but that's too much to spend on something so basic, and that's already starting to get old.
i am glad to see at least a few people on here sharing the same thoughts as what everyone was saying on major nelson's blog post about this game. people are starting to notice and get frustrated about the price increase in xbla games. heck, i wonder if the 400msp price point even exists anymore. i hope that everyone will back up their opinions by actually not buying the game and let their wallet also do somet talking. after all, that is the only way things will actually change. there are so many times when i see people complain about the price of an arcade game, for example, and then i see on their xbox live recent games page that they have purchased and earned achievements in the game.
400 MSP seems to be reserved for bigger XNA games. Haven't seen one of the 400's since... I guess Penny Arcade #1 came on or some time before that.
I don't mind the price if the quality is right, but apart from a few gems it has been pretty bad lateley. I like Crystal Defenders a lot, but in all honesty it would have been an impulse buy if the 400 price pont still existed, so I mulled it over a couple times until I caved in.
If it were the same price as the original UNO I would likely buy this without a second thought. Unfortunately I think they are shooting themselves in the foot with the higher pricepoint.
Ummm... Usually I agree with Richard's reviews, but this game did nothing for me. Looked fun enough in the video, but the trial made me change my mind. It went from "must buy (like Uno) to "nah". Too hectic.I'm too oldschool for that :)
Love original UNO so I downloaded the trial. The reviewer's comparison of this to a puzzle game is spot on. The game IS fun, but very fast and hectic and so is frustrating at times. I don't think it's deep enough to warrant 800 MS points right now when Uno is 400. I might end up playing the trial more and end up getting hooked, but we shouldn't accept that "this is the way it is now." Especially true is that this was originally announced at 400 points (see the post a user digged up at Majornelson showing a slide of this game presentation at a press conference (E3?) listing UNO Rush on the marketplace with a "Buy 400MS" on it).....
Yeah, I would buy it if it's 400 points, 800 sounds too much for just a new set of rules basically.
What I want to know Richard is, which one would you recommend to someone that doesnt have the original game? which one you think is more entertaining, Original or Rush?
UNO Rush is SUCH a blast! It's a lot more entertaining than the first one, where you can walk out of the room pressing A and B and can probably win a few times. This one is great because you can play four player on one screen and it's a great party with a few friends. I wasn't too sure about 800 points for it either, but.. I definitely think it's worth it this time.
