since I couldn't get Doom and Duke Nukem 3D because of Microsoft's shitty Region Lock in the Marketplace, I'm not even gonna bother with this one.

Just wanted to say Carmack has made me a believer. The iPhone CAN do FPS after all.

I've played a couple first person games on the iPhone and they were all horrendous, however Wolfenstein's simple yet brilliant touch controls really make the game feel at home on the iPhone.

I don't know why Carmack was freaking out when he released the source for Wolf3D...he did a damn great job.

Exactly! Jailbreak those Ipod Touches/Iphones, everyone!

I've been playing it for a few days now. The controls need some work, but it runs great.

I just checked the store, Where is it? Typed "wolf" on the search in cydia and nothing came up.

If the controls are anything like Quake... I'll pass. Sorry but it's no fun when most of the screen is covered by my thumbs.

If Wolfenstein 3D is coming out over Live Arcade and PSN, it's probably for promoting the new game. I say it's about damn time it got a release, because the popularity of the FPS genre was established with this game, and despite it's graphics compared to modern FPS's, it's still fun as hell.

As someone who owned the game when it was first released and subsequently donned my rose tinted specs for the Steam version. WTF? This game is terrible and hasn't aged as well as Doom.

You're all mad!

I agree- I still have fun with Doom - I fired up wolf3d.exe a few years ago and wasn't impressed. Plus I couldn't remember where any of the hidden walls were.

I'm just waiting for Duke Nukem to be released on PSN. I could care less about iPhone gaming, especially when your thumbs block a large portion of the screen.

Tap Tap Revenge is a great game though but considering I have to pay a bullshit $9.99 fee for an update JUST to be able to get apps, free or not, I'll never have the chance for myself.

Gotta love planned obsolescence with the 'New Generation iPod/iPhones.

Woaw...that blue detail-less wall makes me feel like an ungrateful bastard when criticizing a game for it's bland graphics. Aww.

Ehh. When I downloaded it, it had a rating of 5 stars. Everyone says the controls are great. Same with BIA- everyoe said it's a great game that proved shooters can be done on the iPhone.

I disagree.

While this and BIA are playable, they still feel horribly gimped compared to physical controls, and it feels like work to move around or aim accurately. This just takes the fun away for me.

I quit playing BIA after 4 or so levels, never picked it up since. Due to the more simplistic nature of Wolf, I will keep trying to get into it. I'm an old school gamer, so it's not the aged game that turns me off for the record.

I'm very much enjoying the game, and I agree: the controls are really fantastic.

Certainly not as good as physical controls, but very well done. However, there's no Z axis to deal with...

I'm not sorry I spent the money... I mean, it's fun, it's nostalgic for me, and there's 60 large levels.

Awesome game. I remember firing this up from DOS on my 386. It's not Quake, but hell, it's the grand daddy of all FPS right in my pocket. For all you boys complaining that the game hasn't aged well, get the eff off my lawn.
