GDC09: Upcoming EA iPhone game list fully revealed, screens and info on Tiger

The full list of games we received from EA is as follows: Tiger Woods PGA Tour, The Sims 3, FIFA, Madden NFL Football, Spore Creatures, Mystery Mania, Wolfenstein RPG, American Idol, Connect Four, Battleship, Need for Speed, RISK, Monopoly and Clue. Differing from reports at the GDC Mobile event earlier this week, we're seeing the addition of The Sims 3 and Need for Speed. In turn, we're losing the first SSX in two years, Red Alert, NBA Live 10, American Idol, Star Trek. But hey, Tiger Woods!
The press release from EA on Tiger Woods PGA Tour tells us that the game is of the "touch" rather than of the "shake" variety, comes with achievements and offers a way to compare achievements with your friends. Of the key features listed, notably missing is "playing against friends wirelessly," though it does promise the ability to "affect your ball spin direction" using your finger. Those are comparable features, right? We'll keep on EA and let you know as soon as we find out more on their upcoming iPhone/iTouch assault.

I was trying to think of a witty comment, but nothing does those trees justice... just, wow.

What is it with all those iPhone games? I own an iPod touch and tried some games, but not one managed to keep me interested. The controls just aren't precise enough. I rather still play my GBA.

Apparently joystiq is being overrun by iphone fanboys.

People like trendy things.
I'm being a little harsh, but I honestly don't see the value of the iPhone as a gaming platform beyond very simple games.

"They're not e-mailing it to your house."
Haha...I meant mailing it.

Stay hating, it's only gonna get worse for you dudes. The games are getting better and coming more often, with major devs focusing on the platform.
This is fucking cool my friend, no more questions.

*sigh*
This is a blog that covers gaming and the iPhone plays games, therefore Joystiq is covering it. It's not rocket science.
Again, if you don't like iPhone stories, you don't have to read them. They're not e-mailing it to your house. I don't like stories about Rockband or Guitar Hero...guess what I scroll past them.
Jesus you people are babies.

I want a waaburger with some frenchcries.

Thank you for saying that.
Joystiq can't just post skewed information pertaining to just one market-- console and PC games. This is a GAMING... BLOG. And, last I checked, a gaming blog covers almost every aspect of gaming-- consoles, online, PC, and HANDHELDs. Because the iPod Touch and iPhone can play games in your hands, it is technically another HAND... HELD.
God, people, if you don't want to read these things, just DON'T READ THEM.

If that was really the case, why doesn't the site cover all the other cellphone games like Tornado Mania or 3D Tilt-a-World. It's not as if the iPhone is the first to do it. It's not even the first to have motion controls.
NaeemTHM @ Mar 28th 2009 12:20AM
Well Required it's the same reason Joystiq doesn't cover every Tiger handheld. Most cell phone games are 15 minute distractions and are usually not huge sellers. The iPhone and iPod Touch have permeated the gaming industry more than any other cell phone before it. 800 million applications have been downloaded to the device, a third of which are games. Sure a LOT of the games are the same crappy cellphone games we're used to, but many are also full blown console titles. Games like PuzzleQuest and the recently released Wolfenstein offer just as much depth as a PSP or DS title.
Lastly, it's not Joystiq that's putting focus on the iPhone. It's developers. Their the ones that are coming out of the wood work to make the next best game on the iPhone.
Joystiq is just reporting the news bro.

Red Alert does sound fun on iPhone, but I'm not going to be holding my breath.
Touchscreen handhelds are notorious for screwing up the controls of RTS games, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too high on that front either.

You appear to have American Idol both denied and confirmed.
