Ach, the joy of April Fools tracks.
Markez @ Mar 27th 2009 1:34PM
A true April Fools track would likely be Sponge Bob doing "Don't Stop Believing"
Archon @ Mar 27th 2009 1:37PM
@Markez, the problem with "selling something" is that they would actually had to release it, not to be accused of false advertising etc. They cannot publically claim that they will release something that they won't.
Those Spongebob joke tracks are releasable but still tongue-in-cheek.
jeff @ Mar 27th 2009 1:47PM
is the joke that they were announced, or that they will be released? cuz its not an april fools joe if it happens.
Archon @ Mar 27th 2009 1:57PM
Geez, guys. Grow a funny bone or something.
It's a release IN THE SPIRIT of that day.
Also, jeff. I can call you "April Fools Joe" from now on if you want.
Jeff @ Mar 27th 2009 2:10PM
ack, you just made it a meme
Alex Sohn @ Mar 27th 2009 2:13PM
This isn't an April Fools Joke, I imagine there's still a lot of folks with bad tastes in their mouth after being conned into the Zelda movie joke and you're afraid to buy into Spongebob but I'm pretty sure a company wouldn't be falsely promoting content for a universally known IP (sponge bob) and then trick everybody and say, HAHA.
Now when you see the Spongebob Squarepants vs Gears of War title announced on IGN on April 1st, you can scream bloody murder
Tiptup300 @ Mar 27th 2009 2:39PM
Fecking right doggy, C'mon C'mon! I swear the people at Harmonix has my room tapped.
Brodo @ Mar 27th 2009 2:46PM
If the spongbob tracks are actually coming out, then im totally gonna go onto a friends xbox and purchase one of these songs for a joke.
Imagine playing rockband, going into a random list of songs and then spongebob comes up
Roggie @ Mar 31st 2009 3:08PM
Oh my God.
The songs are actually on the marketplace...
I want to go Van Gogh on my ears without even downloading them.
tmacairjordan87 @ Mar 27th 2009 1:35PM
Strange, I thought for sure they'd counter Guitar Hero Metallica with some of their own Metallica but I guess not.
BxGT @ Mar 27th 2009 1:42PM
They are probably waiting for when guitar hero gets it bad scores for same shit different smell gameplay.
tmacairjordan87 @ Mar 27th 2009 1:48PM
Not to stick up for guitar hero, even though I am getting GHM, but how do you expect them to change the gameplay? It's a music game, they're always going to be the same. I don't see people knocking RB2 for being exactly the same as 1.
PR0F3TA @ Mar 27th 2009 1:53PM
WHAT?!
how is RB1 like RB2, RB2 actually had improvements... dozens of them!
drum/fills trainer
SP World Tour
Online Co-Op
Backwards Compaible DLC songs + 45 transferable tracks from RB1
Managing system
the whole User interface and menu's
Rock Band 2 pawns GH:WT only innovation - MIDI Ringtones Costume Tracks Maker
tmacairjordan87 @ Mar 27th 2009 1:55PM
and not 1 of those changes changed the gameplay. The only real change to the gameplay in any of these music games is when RB1 added 2 other instruments, but other than that it's been the same since GH1.
Monkeydog @ Mar 27th 2009 1:57PM
Metallica is exclusive to Guitar Hero now anyways.
Ghoti @ Mar 27th 2009 2:08PM
PR0F3TA - It was actually 55 songs that were exportable out of Rock Band 1 (all but 3 of the songs on the disk).
Martin @ Mar 27th 2009 2:24PM
Actually, I would argue that adding in the ability to continue to pick up Overdrive when Overdrive is active was the biggest gameplay change that the Fischer Price genre has seen since it started.
It greatly increases the possibilities when trying to find the optimum overdrive path. And i've been in plenty of ranked matches that ended 100% vs 100%, with the only difference *being* the overdrive path.
B3astofthe3ast @ Mar 27th 2009 2:47PM
Battery in RB2 says hai.
whazam1337 @ Mar 27th 2009 3:22PM
Spongebob PWNS Metallica
Mr Khan @ Mar 27th 2009 1:35PM
The Viacom association is leading to some strange stuff...
Vegnagun bwf @ Mar 27th 2009 1:40PM
I know, right? >.>
Troy Powers (PSN: TroyPowers) @ Mar 27th 2009 1:36PM

Duke @ Mar 27th 2009 1:39PM
OK, it took me a second, but the second one from the left in the back, that's Pat Benatar right?
Ghoti @ Mar 27th 2009 1:42PM
SpongeBob FTW!!!
... someone had to say it. :-)
baef @ Mar 27th 2009 1:44PM
no, they didn't
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Mar 27th 2009 1:49PM
I don't give a DAMN what anyone else says... this is amazing.
Michael T @ Mar 27th 2009 2:10PM
Amen! My four-year-old's going to love it.
And as a bonus, since I'm raising a little geek, he's also going to love "Don't Stop Believin'." Almost as much as Dad.
todd @ Mar 27th 2009 1:43PM
AAAAhhhhh ya spongebob!! Kids will love it.
todd @ Mar 27th 2009 1:46PM
April fools BTW... my kids would like it but doubt it's real.
Markusdragon @ Mar 27th 2009 3:46PM
I don't really see this as being particularly implausible. It wouldn't be the first time Nickelodeon stuff showed up on the Rock Band store at any rate.
Ryan @ Mar 27th 2009 1:45PM
Oh man, that chick on the far right in the Baywatch swimsuit is so hot! I'd hit it.
Extra yummy...
Readme @ Mar 27th 2009 3:56PM
I get it.
Danny F. @ Mar 27th 2009 1:55PM
That Best Day Ever indeed.... that song is super catchy... and yes I am a proud spongebob squarepants viewer :')
the helvetica scenario @ Mar 27th 2009 1:56PM
No Goofy Goober Rock? Ah, I guess they'd probably have to work out the rights with Twisted Sister...
MowDownJoe @ Mar 27th 2009 1:58PM
I will never get why they won't use Weird Al on April Fools... I wanna play Albuquerque!
Reboot @ Mar 27th 2009 2:06PM
Or since it looks like we'll never get "Smells Like Teen Spirit", how about "Smells Like Nirvana"?? ;)
GewurztraminerX @ Mar 27th 2009 6:44PM
Weird Al would be sweet! 'though, there've been too many songs in which I heard his parodies first and the actually song second. We need a new generation of confused music listeners!
Also, we'd need an accordian peripheral =]
GiggMan @ Mar 27th 2009 2:06PM
Probally not real, but me and my son would bug out on the spongebob tracks!
Best Day Ever would get played everyday for a week at least.
KeegdnaB @ Mar 27th 2009 2:09PM
I'm sitting here on my computer right now waiting for the UPS guy to show up with my RB2 bundle that I was finally able to buy as a result of birthday money and being on sale on newegg.
I read this now and think "Hell yeah, do I have good timing or what."
MarkHawk @ Mar 27th 2009 2:10PM
Digging the thought of Playing C'mon C'mon
natureboy46 @ Mar 27th 2009 2:28PM
Is that the song that features in Rescue Me and now on MLB Network? If so then I have to get this for my wife - she loves that song.
Oh, I don't have volume, in case you were wondering why I don't just watch the video.
Trippy Haps @ Mar 27th 2009 3:11PM
@natureboy
The song you're thinking of is actually "Into The Fire", by 13 Senses.
Bad ass song!
justin b. @ Mar 28th 2009 9:08PM
Yeah, its the opening theme song. Come on, come on, Come on, Come on...
Angel Mass @ Mar 27th 2009 2:17PM
Cant wait to rock hardcore to Spongebob!
Kiz @ Mar 27th 2009 2:18PM
It panned out, other than Joystiq guessed the incorrect song?
XLM @ Mar 27th 2009 2:22PM
"Geraldine" by Glasvegas f'n sweeeet!
mr mobius @ Mar 27th 2009 2:40PM
Awesome songs!
Needed the Spongebob Squarepants theme song though.
