The Square Enix purchase of Eidos will go through, as 85% of the Eidos shareholders voted in favor (big surprise there) of their new overlords at a recent court hearing and passed the motion of acquisition at the EGM afterward. It is estimated that Square Enix will take over operating duties some time in late April, when it's assumed all of Eidos' shares will be delisted.
We imagine Square Enix's first order of business will be to start work on Final Fantasy X3: Lara's Shadow, in which Yuna, Rikku, and Lara work together to solve a mystery surrounding a sunken ship. Also, they try to find Tidus again.

I'd wait until they tell us what they want to be called before making up our own stupid names.

Hopefully Square does something intelligent for once and forces FFXIII porting duties to Eidos. That way, FFXIII can actually come out around the same time as the JP release.

Forgot to mention localization as well. If Square makes Eidos their bitch in the West, then there should be a quicker turn around in game localization and release (especially in Europe!).
That should help a lot as the FFXIII release can't come to either console earlier than the other in the West so if Eidos handled porting duties starting now, then the game can actually come out around the same time as Japan as opposed to their original plan which would have had them sit on the PS3 version of FFXIII until the 360 port was finished.

Awesome. Maybe now they can recreate Kane & Lynch as a murderous, drug fueled RPG.

Personally, I enjoyed it as well. Although the ending, no matter which you chose, was anti-climactic and downright depressing, the action and game play weren't so bad. I waited on that game for a long time. Seeing the cover story in Game Informer back in 06 is what possessed me to upgrade to current-gen consoles.

I think we may be the only 2 people who realize you refer to a PC Port of FF9, after FF7 and FF8 were both ported to PC by Eidos. It'd be funny if they did release a PC port of FF9 now though.

my first game idea they could make was 'tomb fantasy,' which may be one of the worst names for a game ever

Eidos Squared
or is is Cubed now?
Oh I'm all sorts of confused.
Had to happen though. Eidos needed to get new leadership.

I don't think they'll drop it. Remember when Bandai and Namco merged? Bandai still releases there types of games like Naruto and Namco still released there Soul Calibur. Although Bandai did drop the Cowboy Bebop game I was looking forward to....so I could be wrong. MUHAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHA!
But seriously, if they scrap the Batman game we're F***ing done professionally.

Hmm, I wonder if Eidos will become into a subsidiary (a la Taito), or it will be dissolved (a la Quest).

Huh.
So does this mean that Kain and Raziel will end up bishonen vampire lords? Or will we just see the Legacy series finish drying up and rotting away. Kinda like Raziel...
Fortunately or unfortunately, the only Eidos title I'm familiar with and have played is the Kain series. And Square-Enix...maybe has a title I care about? Not a big fan of Final Fantasy...can anyone help me figure out what else they might have put out? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

What, it's not like Eidos is big and successful anymore. The last few games they made were mediocre at best...they needed rescuing.
Although the fact that SE got them depresses me a little. SE has to be one of the slowest developers on the planet (next to Valve). Everyone loves their titles but it takes them 4 years to make anything good. Their less-than-4-years titles like Last Remnant kinda suck (metacritic says 65 ROFL).
