Fans of the surprisingly well-crafted Escape from Butcher Bay have likely been salivating over the brutal possibilities offered by the multiplayer mode featured in its successor, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. With six different gameplay modes and 15 levels to choose from, the "shiv-happy" among you will probably have enough to keep yourselves busy for quite some time -- just in case, developer Starbreeze Studios will reportedly be dropping a five-map DLC pack some time after the game's release.
Little is known about the pricing, release schedule or arrangement of these extra maps, but given the gaming community's lack of enthusiasm for DLC that's announced for yet-to-be-released games, we suggest the additional levels have some extremely catchy titles. We suggest Shanktown, Knifewound Central, Laceration Station, or Stabbythroat Junction.

Butcher Bay is fantastic. And I hear from the reviews of this game it still holds up well.
BUT....Dark Athena (and the demo you're trying) is weak since they made it completely gun/action oriented.

I tried the demo. I wasn't impressed in the least. Seemed mediocre. It felt like it should have been 3rd person and they made if a FPS because that seems to be the formula nowadays. Am I missing something?

I have to agree. I was really excited for the demo, but I found it really clunky and frustrating. Every time I tried to sneak up on one of the enemies, they would turn and start firing at me.
There's nothing worse than stealth situations that aren't designed well.
What's the point of being Riddick if you can't use darkness to your advantage?

Wow, way to earn your respect guys. Announcing paid DLC before the game hits.

GTA IV is different atrimus, Lost and Damned is like an expansion pack.
Stuff like this is unacceptable though.

Hmm, so I guess it would be evil if they announced DLC for GTA4 and Fallout 3 before those games released? Does it really matter when they announce this? I'm so sick of hearing people bitch about DLC. The game ships with FIFTEEN FUCKING MULTIPLAYER MAPS. if you don't need more, DONT BUY THE EXTRAS.

No I'm whining about greedy developers like Eidos and Capcom.
Valve releases their DLC for free on the PC. People should follow suit. But no, it's too lucrative. I agree. My whining isn't going to change anything.

maybe my sarcasm wasn't obvious enough? thank you Levi for completely seeing where i was coming from.
for the record, no, i'm not a drooling fan of GTA IV, and that has nothing to do with Rockstar and Microsoft announcing paid DLC year(s) before the game was released.

Does it really matter. Judging by what I've seen the multiplayer isn't anything to shout about. I doubt anyone will spend more than 5 mins on it let alone buy it's map packs. Singleplayer should be awesome though and unless they announced a singleplayer dlc level that effects the story then I couldn't give a flying shit.

Seriously folks. you're bitching about this DLC again.
First off, the game is shipping in early april. the game is out of their hands getting pressed to disc.
Secondly, why don't you all try developing a game. Oh, you can't? that's because you too dumb or untalented to.
If you think it sucks, then don't buy the DLC.

That was a bit of an overreaction. Just because people that complain resort to petty name calling and talking down, doesn't mean you have to.

no no, J has a good point. A friend and I got into this same argument yesterday, and I'm pretty sure we analyze things like this more than most people here do (certainly more than they need to be analyzed -_- I blame it on him, he's the biggest gamer I've ever met, beating RE5 twice during release weekend, etc...) One of the things that people don't think about when DLC is announced before release is that the game goes gold and starts getting pressed to discs long before the release date. It's not like if they have the DLC done days before release, they can just add it to the game. This is a sorely overlooked point.

Game companies really need to stop announcing paid DLC before the game is released. Obviously it is something they started working on when the game already got approved but to most of the gaming morons out there, it looks like they intentionally withheld things from the game to release later.
If developers waited a couple of weeks until after the release to announce the DLC, then there wouldn't be this problem.

For all you slow people.. we're bitching about DLC because we're sick of being sold a $60 game only to learn that it's really going to be $70 after the $10 DLC.
I'm sick of paying $70-80-100 for a video game.

I didn't say that.. I'm saying the $60 games are actually a lot more then people realize.
