Steam offering Ubisoft quadruple-pack for $10
Steam's week-long celebration of French gaming industry juggernaut Ubisoft (which kicked off with a 50 percent discount for Far Cry 2) is coming to a close, but not before the digital distribution leader performs a coup de grâce on wallet-wary consumers -- this weekend, the service is offering the Ubisoft Classic Pack, which includes Far Cry, IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Beyond Good & Evil, for just $10.
We highly suggest checking it out -- the four-pack seems to cater to all sorts of gaming interests, whether they be horrendously gaudy hawaiian shirts, World War II-era dogfighting, demonic fantasy combat or titles that got royally shafted by the game consuming populous during their initial release.

Steam, king of awesome deals.
Vincent @ Mar 28th 2009 4:39PM
Kinda sucks... I got some of those games with the huge sale they had weeks ago.. or else I would have got it..
Got the 50% off Farcry2 Deal tho.. go me... lol
Mellow Jay Yellow @ Mar 28th 2009 4:40PM
It started monday with Assassin's Creed, and Farcry 2 was thursday's deal that did so well that they extended the deal.
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 6:33PM
I would buy FC2 while it's on special, if not for the utter stupidity of regional pricing. Just because I'm in Australia I have to pay 66% more? Bugger off...
MowDownJoe @ Mar 28th 2009 4:45PM
I bought Beyond Good and Evil from Steam for $10... this is a freaking bargain!
Jerk Face @ Mar 28th 2009 11:17PM
So how terrible are the controls though, right? It's a great game, but the PC port suffers a bit. No joystick / controller support = failure!
The Baron @ Mar 29th 2009 6:44AM
I played through the whole thing with M + KB and barely noticed
Zaven @ Mar 29th 2009 11:16AM
Can't you just change the controls and play it with a 360 controller?
ifalldownstairs @ Mar 28th 2009 4:49PM
How much of a hardcore flight sim is IL-2 Sturmovik? I remember loving Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator years ago and I still have a joystick but I really don't like any modern combat flight games (lock on missiles are boring)
David @ Mar 28th 2009 5:13PM
pretty hardcore.
Smoke_me_a_Kipper @ Mar 28th 2009 5:35PM
It's the reason I bought the pack, I had Farcry, played Beyond and will try Might & Magic.
David @ Mar 28th 2009 5:24PM
I can only encourage people to buy Beyond Good & Evil.
An amazing game, still superior to most "next gen" experiences.
(... oh, and when you're at it, go and buy Shadow of the Colossus and Psychonauts as well.)
Durinthal @ Mar 28th 2009 5:25PM
I got it yesterday. Curse you, Steam! I keep on spending money on games I don't have time to play!
Dave @ Mar 28th 2009 5:31PM
too bad far cry only works on xp
DaveMcRae @ Mar 28th 2009 5:41PM
Huh, it should run on Vista too.
Dave @ Mar 28th 2009 6:10PM
It says windows 2000/XP (only) on the requirements
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 6:30PM
I think that just says that because when Far Cry was first released, Vista was just a twinkle in Microsoft's eye (or beginning to emerge in their toilets, your call), and is being used here to mean that it won't run on 95/98/ME.
If you are that paranoid, it's worth noting that all the games in the pack say 2000/XP only (except Dark Messiah, which only lists XP but I don't see it not working on 2K).
Dave @ Mar 28th 2009 6:39PM
so you think it should work on vista then?
sjs2626 @ Mar 28th 2009 7:13PM
i bought the pack, and i can verify that far cry runs on Vista Home Premium 32-Bit. I'm not sure about 64-bit though.
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 7:13PM
Don't see why it wouldn't.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Mar 28th 2009 5:45PM
Apparently I don't get to gift an extra copy of DMM&M to someone else, despite the fact that I already have a retail copy installed and registered under Steam. Lame.
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 6:25PM
You only get extra copies when you buy a multipack containing games you already have if the game/s you already have are HL2 and/or HL2E1 and you buy The Orange Box, or if you own HL2E1 or HL2E2 and you buy the HL2 Episode Pack.
All detailed right here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?s=6e4689d700cdddf57cce0d6f86519412&ref=4502-TPJL-2656
melba @ Mar 28th 2009 6:58PM
You might be able to get a refund for the extra copy, if you contact steam.
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 7:14PM
I wouldn't get my hopes up about that. Even if you already have one of the games, 3 for $10 is still pretty good.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Mar 29th 2009 1:28AM
Thanks for the info, man. Kinda sucks, but eh, no big loss.
Mike @ Mar 28th 2009 6:38PM
Just started playing through Beyond Good and Evil for the first time. Amazing.
mongoos32 @ Mar 28th 2009 7:36PM
Damn, I should have just waited a day. I got Beyond Good & Evil for $10 on GoG.com yesterday. I could have just waited to get it as well as three others for the same price. DAMN YOU VALVE AND YOUR AWESOME DEALS!
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 28th 2009 7:41PM
Don't worry, it happens to all of us.
Pimliconite @ Mar 28th 2009 7:57PM
I can only imagine the horror of the human pheromone farms. Row after row of teenage boys, clamped in their harnesses, being forced to watch hour after hour of cheap porn while suction cups on their armpits siphon off their lucrative juices.
Tango Charlie @ Mar 28th 2009 10:51PM
Anyone know if they've addressed some of the issues that BG&E had running on PC? (Might be AMD-specific)
Olicon @ Mar 29th 2009 12:44AM
Good games, great price--but damn, my laptop can't play any of those games T-T
esposch @ Mar 29th 2009 2:42AM
Wow!
Those games are like 5 years old. This is why you should never get a laptop.
Slashee the Cow @ Mar 29th 2009 3:44AM
What kind of laptop can't play these games?
Olicon @ Mar 29th 2009 6:08AM
EEE laptop. It's 1.6GHz dualcore (intel Atom), 1 GB RAM, and no graphics card. You heard me--not onboard, but none, zilch, nada.
The good thing is the laptop is super light and tiny, which works well when I need to carry it to class (an hour commute + walking around all day can be a pain with the bigger laptops).
t_m @ Mar 29th 2009 6:28AM
I ws just gonna say "pop over to GOG and get them there instead, lots of EEE users get games at GOG."
But then I realised that I've been working too hard today, and buying them from a different service wouldn't make them work any better. Muppet.
Anyway... pop over to GOG and pick up some 2D games instead... ;-) that would make more sense...
t_m @ Mar 29th 2009 4:01AM
Wow... thats a bit mean of them!
Its clearly a reaction to GOG releasing these games yesterday... but it seems a bit mean to pick on the little startups... that the sort of thing you expect from Microsoft. :-(
Dark Messiah isn't available in my region on steam though... so i guess that'll invalidate the deal... :-(
StalkerB @ Mar 29th 2009 10:48AM
Bought this yesterday for £9, not convinced that's the current exchange rate, but still.
Only played BG&E so far. Loving it. Keeps complaining my drivers aren't current and has minor visual glitches on the hovercraft sections (the HUD flashes items that aren't currently selected) but it's good fun.
Mouse & Keyboard isn't too bad, but would prefer to plug in a 360 controller.
Zaven @ Mar 29th 2009 11:21AM
Are you saying you can't do that?
StalkerB @ Mar 29th 2009 12:40PM
No, it doesn't recognize any controller other than keyboard/mouse as far as I can tell.
It's not unworkable.
And the graphic glitches aren't bad and, so far, haven't happened during any intense sections. Just when you're driving around exploring and RIGHT at the start.
I think it's maybe because the glitches happen as soon as the game loads people mention it so much.
Kevin @ Mar 29th 2009 11:40AM
i'm hearing there are alot of issues in BG&E, so im a little worried about buying it. Its only 10 bucks but its hard to spend when your fixed on an income.
