Video: Top ten reasons to play Prototype

Despite what the above trailer has to say on the matter, the number one reason to play Radical Entertainment's open world destroy-em-up, Prototype, is not "Deadly Shape-Shifting Action." No, the number one reason to play Prototype is because you can elbow drop a tank. More importantly, said action will cause the tank to explode. Sure, there are plenty of other cool things to do, like kicking people into tanks, throwing cars into helicopters or repeatedly power bombing soldiers off the sides of buildings, but come on: elbow dropping a tank.

You may disagree, but let us offer a counterargument: You. Can elbow drop. A tank.

Anyone notice how this game plays almost exactly like the PS2 Hulk Ultimate Destruction minus the shape shifting? Hulk not need disguise to hide! And Hulk no need to drive tank! Hulk stronger than tank.
But seriously, the moves (including the elbow dropping of a tank) and the open world environment are the same. Not a knock, as that Hulk game was AWESOME. Look forward to seeing how this pans out.

Yes, the amount of destruction that can be had here is ridiculous. If dudes in suits were complaining about the violence in GTA before, when they see this game, THEY WILL, without a doubt, piss they're pants. In terms of pure destruction, this makes GTA look like it's still in diapers XD.

Is it me or do some of the physics suck? For example, the helicopters just go straight down when they blow up even though you hit them with a projectile that should have sent them back a least a little bit.

Yeah the physics look really weak. The whole game engine looks pretty bad. It's hard to get hyped for a game that puts all it's focus into elbow dropping tanks instead of focusing on making a decent engine. Game looks like it was designed by a 10 year old.

i downvoted you for judging the game before knowing about it.
i think it does indeed have a storyline, and since it's not been released and you dont know shit about the storyline, you shouldn't say i hate this game because of its story.

ALSO, in case you just wanted to have an openion about this game, you should have at least seen the other gameplay video from the developers, where they showed creatures in the game that were stronger than you were in the same powers you possess, and they chase you down and all you can do to effectively save your ass is run the fuck away.

i take that as both storyline and challange, wtf do you hate this game for.

Meh. I'll rent it, but I don't see this as a buy. You can do a lot of stuff, but I'm not seeing a challenge, and I'm not seeing anything that'll draw me into this story or make me care what's going on.

That's the problem that Im having as well, I don't see what are the weaknesses of this character, this is pretty much like playing a Superman game...

In the other hand, you got Cole, who's powers are not as unlimited as Alex's, not only that, but he has weaknesses as well.

It really does look like NOTHING in this game can put up a fight and you just mangle it for enjoyment. One of the reasons I haven't bought Madworld is because of this.

I'm not even saying hyper violence and over the top stuff like elbow dropping a tank is bad, in fact it's rather awesome, but it's almost like the main draw of this game is the fact that you can do a bunch of off the wall stuff with little limitation or challenge.

i think this looks like more fun than inFamous though, inFamous to me looks like it will get very boring very fast. all i have seen from it is repetitive lightning attacks. That's fun for a few minutes but it grows tiring fast... it did for me in The Force Unleashed at least.

No, I don't see either game as being "generic." BTW, I feel that "generic" is the most over-used word this entire generation.

And cyruss, I'll agree that Prototype looks fun, in a mindless sort of way. You just go about destroying things without any particular challenge in doing so. It doesn't make it a bad game, but it does make it less compelling to me.

I was thinking the same thing, how are they gonna make this a challenging game? The main character is so WAY beyond badass, that I can't imagine this THING dying. If I can do all that otherworldly stuff in Prototype, then there's gonna have to be some pretty nasty boss fights with a level of difficulty even Contra can't touch. XD I wonder what multiplayer would be like for this?!

Maybe you should wait to play it first. They're obviously just showing off everything you can do, it's impossible to tell how challenging the game will actually be.

They did the same thing with Crackdown. They showed off all the cool stuff you could do, making the player look like an invincible super-hero. But when you actually play the game, it gets a lot tougher than it looks.

If you played it safe on the hardest difficulty by sniping and running constantly, or blowing everything up without a single concern for innocents: You didn't fully enjoy the game.

If, however, you easily beat it on easy or normal, you don't have anything to gloat about.

Take that elitist bullshit on somewhere. I beat the game on normal, I played commando-style, and I didn't kill people I didn't have to. The hardest part of the game was figuring out how to get to certain people. Once I was in, I just beat everyone's ass and got my target. Done deal.

Also, it had a really stupid ending, which took away from the experience for me, but that's beside the point. Fact of the matter is it simply wasn't difficult. Fun, but not difficult.

sorry, but based on the trailers released thus far, prototype is putting infamous to shame. infamous looks like force unleashed mixed with gta. infamous game play vids look boring and repetitive: force lightning, force push, walk around. prototype looks crazy and brutal. absorbing people, mutation, scaling sky scrapers, throwing soldiers INTO HELICOPTERS! i'm really torn. but still, i think i'm going to rent these at the same time then decide which one to buy.
