So the PS3 is beginning to descend back to normal, but maybe the mysterious, monumental announcement coming Tuesday might change things

(though we don't know if that's about the PS3 or some other facet of the PS brand)

Just curious, is ANYONE credible running that news story? Or is it just "I heard it from a friends brothers acquaintance who works at Sony" level professionalism dripping down the legs of sites like Kotaku?

@Sheppy: "Sony dropped Kotaku a line to let us know that something is going down on Tuesday, March 31st."

Apparently, Sony emailed them directly. But then again, this'll probably be for the PS2 dropping to $99, as found by someone in Kmart down the Joystiq front page.

Wow, this is a sad day indeed. Now Joystiq is following the story. As if they learned nothing from the Robert Suma/Megabomb incident.

I thought everyone buys a DS over there for.....

Oh crap. Something about paper currency and the creation of it.

Nah. Can't be.

You silly... only Nintendo's corporate headquarters has the magical money-printing versions of the DS and Wii.

...Anyone want to plunder the place to see if they could find it?

There's no magic involved, just make your system lower priced than the competition, easy to use, not daunting or intimidating and attractive to the elderly, hot chicks and little children and you are golden!

yea i gotta tell ya, i've been pretty impressed with the PSP. i mean it's not close to the DS in marketshare but it has certainly held it's own better than any other handheld competing against a Nintendo handheld if memory serves. it usually finishes from 1-3 switching places with the DS and Wii in Japan, which is a pretty impressive feat considering Nintendo's machines print money and all.

Hell, its the only one that has survived against Nintendo where others have fallen like Sega and SNK, that alone is a feat in of itself. I'm glad there is competition against the DS and that we have choice, where with the PSP, I can mostly get a console experience on the go whereas the DS has more quick pick up and play games.

maybe if you're a regular on Joystiq or Weblogs you'll know that there is a problem with the system reposting or moving posts to different threads?

Relax. I posted this in another thread a long time ago.

That's what i like to see, the PS3 may have dropped down the sales chart, but still almost 5:1 vs Errorbox sales - those Japs really aren't fooled by MS are they.

Japan - knowing what's what with technology, since, like forever!

You might have that backwards, rudolphe. Japan and China have been the technological leaders for decades now. Consoles were coming out of Japan quite a few years before North America jumped on the bandwagon.

But Sexualchocolate, I agree with Sheppy.

Wow--360 will almost certainly be in the basement next week, outsold by the PS2 if the price cut is in Japan too.

Thank you Joystiq! I doubt it was on account of little ol' me, but I asked if you guys could use a different DSi pic because of the color of the other one and you did it.
