Rumor: PS2 dropping to $100 around April 5

Our source also checked for a PS3 price cut -- following industry rumors that one is incoming -- but found no evidence in the Kmart system at this time.

I bought a slim one bout a year ago since I didn't have access to a fatty anymore. Happy to have it and all, only have 2 or 3 games, but it seems my disc tray is a poor quality and DVDs don't seem to sit too well in their and can rattle. Lame.

I see Gamecubes stacked up by the dozens in pawn shops all the time with $30 price tags on them. The PS2s cost a little more. Amazing what a game library will do to resale value.

I'm still rocking the fat PS2. I love that thing. Although, I think it's time for me to get some component cables for it, it looks pretty crappy on my HDTV. I heard the PS3 ones work with the ps2?

I have the launch 20gb. The rarest PS3 ever made only 1000 were released that fateful November 11th, and It was the only one left at the store I could buy. It has the same near 100% backwards compatibility as the 60Gb.
The really special thing about my 20Gb is that it was the only Completely Black PS3, the 20Gb has no chrome decal. Just pure sexy black. Its also got a fine coating of unicorn horn dust that gives it a magical metal flake look. If you rub it the right way the cell processor will grant you 1 wish. First thing I wished for was a 320Gb harddrive that I installed in it promptly.

Not surprising, but maybe this is Sony's attempt at cutting into DSi sales? I know they are not competing platforms but still, the PSTwo is still a cashcow for Sony. (I'm also amazed at how friggin small they made it, and the newest one has an internal powersupply to boot)..
Kinda surprised we haven't actually seen proof of a PS3 drop, but I'm assuming Sony wants every last PS3 sale if they're dropping the price, though apparently Sony collected stocklists for all PS3 sku's, (meaning they need to know how much cash they are going to credit very soon) so that might be a hint.

Sort of good news for me, I suppose. My PS3 is an 80GB without any form of back compat, and I never played through the God of War games or Shadow of the Colossus. Although it does feel silly to spend $100 + whatever a memory card costs ($20?) just to play 3 games.

I mean this isn't bad news but it's not good news either. Let's be honest ... the PS2 has been out for awhile now and it still hasn't hit $100 sell mark. That's rediculous ... I was hoping for a new game announcement or a price drop in the PS3. It's all about next-gen consoles now Sony get with the program. Don't get me wrong there are some friken classic of ps2 games that I love to play but the PS2 I think is pretty much cooked for sales wise. Maybe im wrong but this is just my opinion ...
I loved Destroy All Humans, War Of Monsters, 007 Nightfire, Soldier Of Fortune : Gold Edition, State Of Emergency , Lego Star Wars and shit like that. PS2 was the best at it's time.
