Just as it did with Dead Space, Electronic Arts has announced an upcoming animated adaptation of EA Redwood Shores' next project, Dante's Inferno.
With a feature film already in the works at Universal, the straight-to-DVD movie is being handled by Starz Media's Film Roman, the same folks behind Dead Space's animated flick, Downfall. The feature is expected to ship alongside the hellish action game in 2010, with different animation houses each offering their own take on Dante Alighieri's nine circles of hell. Details remain short, though as anyone who endured a marathon airing of Rambo and the Forces of Freedom can tell you, there's no better medium to convey hell's lurking horrors than a cartoon.

How about you show some gameplay rather than a movie?

If there's anything worse than a video game based on a movie, it's a movie based on a video game.

well not necessarily, some games do happen to have such a good story to it that it deserves to become a movie. Final Fantasy 7 is one that pops to me first as an example.

Wait, it's a movie about the game, based on the book? Or a movie based on the book, because of the game?

couldn't they just include like a borders giftcard for the book?

Dante's Inferno, the game? Do we get to walk around Hell with a deceased Roman poet, admiring all the beautiful scenery that Hell has to offer, whilst engaging in small-talk with various, formerly-living evildoers? Sounds like a blast. Where do I sign up?
