Kid Icarus. I could never, ever beat it without using any of the special passwords, but that never stopped me from trying for years and years. I suppose I ought to check out the Virtual Console version one of these days to see if the last 20+ years of gaming experience have made it any easier for me, or if it really is that difficult.

Super Ghouls & Ghosts. Beat the last boss, only to find out that in order to properly beat the game you need to do it over. With a bracelet!

Hmmm...tough one...I think I'll go with the first Mega Man, the only one of the series I played. It was fun, but frustrating enough that I didn't want to play the future installments.

Well, the boss battle at the end of MGS3(not the final one, the 10 minute timed one) was extremely frustrating for many reasons. I still love the series to death, though.

Been gaming for 20+ years, and the toughest game I've ever learned that was actually a ton of fun was Skate It! on Wii using the balance board. It took a good three hours of gaming before the BB controls began to really click, but after that I felt like Rodney Mullen in his prime and could execute anything I wanted to flawlessly.

Some of those races were just brutally challenging. I can remember one race in particular that took about 7 straight hours of retries in order to complete, yet I still had a blast the whole time (despite barely being able to walk the next day).

What an incredible and rewarding game. I still like it better than both Skate and Skate 2, as well as every Tony Hawk console game ever released (and I've gotten 100% on them all, so i know). Skate It! is so underated, it's not even funny. I'm guessing that most gamers and reviewers probably blamed the game for their own shitty sense of balance on that one. A couple of small tweeks and that game would've been absolutely perfect.

I haven't played it in nearly 20 years, but I have fond memories of finally completing "Bubble Ghost" on our Apple II GS. Finishing the game was satisfying. The ending, however, was horrible -- once you finally get through all 30 stages, the game simply ends with the text, "The bubble thanks you."

I pick Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link. It was a great departure with great combat mechanics, with the most obnoxious Game Over screen mocking you every time you died. It kept making me want to get to the end just to imagine how Ganon looks after all of his stupid laughing...

Right now I am trying to get three stars on all the MarioKart Wii courses. I have a great time at it but it is SOOOOOO frustrating to be at the end in 1st place and get bombarded with power ups and end up in 10th. I don't know if I will ever beat that goal but I am getting pretty good at racing by trying.
