He should have release to homebrew from the start instead of being such a drama whore. Anyway, hurray, I want to play.

What is this?! Bob has actually done something productive other than throw fits when he didn't get his way?

It's an okay little demo, but I think there's a number of flaws with the game.

Whilst the dialogue boxes try to be innovative, by showing two boxes for two people, this ends up cluttering the screen. It conveniently pans the camera to who's talking, but this is sheer lazyness, the character AI doesn't change when you talk to them, they don't even FACE you.
Points for letting you examine small objects with a smaller box appearing, but soon enough you realise this just makes lots of useless things for you to look at.
The characters speak in jibberish noise, like in Animal Crossing, a nice touch but it's wasted by text boxes that are drawn out in split seconds.

The music sucks, it's boring. It picks up when you play a game, but the sound lacks impact.
The graphics resemble RPG maker, some things look okay, but you'll find yourself getting stuck behind a wall you can walk past, because of bad perspective.
When you get electrocuted, you can see how badly done it is though, unacceptable:

As for the gameplay, I dread what the full game will be.
You pretend to live a real life, and inbetween you play games to gain respect.
The game only includes one "game", but it's a tetris clone.
If the game is going to be a collection of knock-off games with a story inbetween it, I'm not going to want to play it. I'll go play the original games instead, or Retro Game challenge.

And the story, apparently Bob made an awesome game and you play as yuu, some very talented kid who was born with a Gametoy or something.
The story is lack-luster.

I might be a little more lenient on my thoughts, but Bob pissed me, and lots of other people off! I couldn't wait to play the game just so I could find what was WRONG with it!

....BUT, I suppose I should talk about the Tetris clone.

It's a minigame called Tetrids, and actually it's not bad.
You play it on the bottom screen, whilst your friend on the top screen gives words of encouragement and snarky comments.
The game itself is fun but very hard, because of irregular pieces, but when you get far enough in, the screen starts flashing colours and HIDING PIECES. And then THE SCREEN STARTS SHAKING OH GOD STOP PLEASE

Is Bobs game a decent homebrew app?
Actually, yeah it's alright, expect a homebrew game, not a commercial quality game like he wants you to think.

Is Bobs game worth the hype, the 5 years of development and bullshit you put up with?
In one word: No.

Since when do you see homebrew applications with graphics comparable to phantom hourglass? Almost all of glorified homebrew applications that i've tried on the ds actualy has really shitty graphic (but some of the non-games are very very useful though). Give this guy a break.

Phantom Hourglass is a bullshit example to give, that's 3D.
3d homebrew is not easy for anyone, I'll be surprised if Bobs game features any.

And homebrew with good graphics DO exist. The Moonshell 2.0 interface is very nice and has some beautiful graphical effects.

WordUp! Is a puzzle homebrew where you link letters to make words, that game has colourful crisp graphics and some very nice tunes.

Pocket Physics is a small homebrew like Crayon Physics, whilst looks pretty decent too.

I'm not going to give Bob a break, his viral marketing campaign was full of shit I don't think he can back up, like being a commercial grade game.
So I'm going to look at "Bob's game" as just that.

Phantom Hourglass graphics? You are fucking kidding right? If you think that it looks like Phantom Hourglass you need your eyes checked. The game looks like it was made with RPG maker pure and simple.

" Give this guy a break."
I think most people would have if he wasn't such an egotistical prick expecting Nintendo to sell his game simply because he spent 5 years on it.

what i actually meant is, homebrew games are expected to have less than decent graphics, including bob's game. To be honest, i'm not really interested in this game. But i just think we should give this guy some credit for all the hardwork he had put into the game, He is obviously, like any of us, a gaming-loving person.

As gushing as the review is about the tetris clone, the 'missing block' tetrids is not a new concept. I remember the same very shapes in a windows 3.x tetris clone.

I've played weird LCD block games, where tetris pieces can have all kinds of shapes, and fall blocks that can shoot out blocks or destroy blocks.

It's a freaking tetris clone, nothing about it could conceivably be original.

Well, did you read the review on how exciting of a twist the 'faktris' had? I bet Bob slipped this guy a fiddy, just like he paid the asian chicks that he hired off of Craig's list.

Eh, I know it's not news, but it turns out this game was SUPPOSED to be homebrew, the "commercial release" thing was a viral campaign ;x

Man, that screencap really bothers me. If your character is named "Yuu" and that woman is talking directly to you, she should say "I bet you and him could be friends," not "Yuu and him". That would be like if your name was John and someone said to you "I bet John and him could be friends!"

I get that it's supposed to be a cute joke, but I think it's kind of annoying haha.

As a demo? It's not that great. Fortunately, that's all it is; a demo. He's managed to show off more gameplay than he ever has before, and that's good. It does need a bit of work, but hopefully the rest of the minigames are better than Tetrid. Seriously, Tetrid sucks.

At least it has good humor. Aside from the Yuu puns.

Boring. It's Retro Games Challenge if Retro Games Challenge was a series of knockoffs instead of a series of tributes (if "Tetrids" is representative of the types of things you'll see in the final product, anyway). And playing as a masturbatory autistic manchild isn't fun either.

You're going to give the male gaming populace a bad rep referring to us like that.
