Madden NFL 10 tackles retail on August 14th

We don't know much more about this year's iteration of the Madden series, except for details garnered from the game's only screenshot. The infamous cover athlete is also currently unknown and will be revealed later this year on April 24th.
Madden NFL10 will be available on Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP and Wii. Update: Big Download has confirmed that no PC version is in the works. "We have no plans to release Madden NFL 10 on the PC this year."

Woohoo, another Madden game for me to personally ignore, but wonder why everyone in college bought new-gen consoles just to buy another copy of (and nothing else) when the last game would probably be quite sufficient!

I used to drink the Kool-Aid and buy it almost every year (except when NFL 2K was still around,) but I finally realized that each year was generally only marginally updated from the previous one. Plus, I stank at the game.

I do it every year. Silently wishing that I'd get an experience close to the NFL 2K days of old.
It always disappoints. NFL 2k will always be the superior product that no longer exists.

ESPN NFL 2k5 STILL is the best football video game in the world. 5 years later, I still play the game and update the rosters and have a much better time with it than any madden game out there.
I will admit that madden 09 All Play was impressive compared to 08, especially with improved online and gameplay, but I KNOW EA could be giving us a lot better than what we've been getting.

well im a college student now and while i don't typically play Madden, it is a very social game, whether it's the same game every year or not. you can get together with anyone and play Madden. that said, i probably still won't buy it. i bought one every year up until Madden '07 (wanted a sports game for Wii).

I dunno. EA's upcoming efforts on Wii all seem stellar. Can they apply that to a more successful Madden? Maybe. The All-Play series of last year is widely regarded as a blunder, even by EA themselves.

I'm usually against the grain here. Madden is the only sports game I play regularly and I always enjoy the upgrades, so I have no problem paying the $60 price each year. 09 has been great, I'm anxious to see what 10 offers.

Hey EA, remember how All Play failed because people thought it wasn't the same game that that the PS3/360 got and how you promised to try harder this year? Can you say 1 step forward (call your shot) and 2 steps back (everything else they've "improved" in the past 10 years)

Agreed, though I think they've already decided on just "Madden NFL Ten." It's the lack of the "Oh" syllable that throws me off. Maybe they can kick off finally pronouncing the years as "twenty-something" as in "Madden Twenty-Ten." That makes it sound like the future.

I'd so buy a Cell Shaded Madden - That would be all kinds of awesome. I think my current copy of madden is 07 - So I'm probably getting close to due for another copy.
Though, if this fun art style is "Big heads" or something stupid and childish like that - I'm not only going to pass, I'm going to be grumpy.

EA said that Madden 10 would be coming out for the PC as well. Did this change and Joystiq failed to report it? So Joystiq either messed up or Joystiq messed up...

Oh please, 2K did the exact same thing with MLB and drove out the far superior MVP series. MLB 2K is awful, pretty much always has been. At least Madden is a pretty good football game.
I love how people complain about yearly sports games so much, yet Guitar Hero/RB doesn't catch nearly ass much flack.

As a viking fan I just hope they update the sideline decorations for there stadium. They have used the same copypaste side line decorations for the past 7 years or so. I mean christ sake Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss are still on there... and they were traded ages ago it seems...WTF?!?!

I am sure this one will add a few new bits and pieces to the equation but one thing still irks me about all of these sports games. It's clearly evident in this one screen shot too. The people on the sideline aren't watching the game. This drives me crazy. Maybe it's something that will happen next generation but it relly kills the realism. In Madden 09 you can be running down the sideline for a game winning touch down in overtime and the guys on the sidelines simply don't react. This one bothers me just about as much as the repeating fan in the MLB the Show series. I really like that game too but when you can see the same fan appear 15-20 on screen and move in the exact same way as all of the other clones, very bothersome. Still I'll end up with Madden and the Show.

I wonder if Franchise mode will be broken again for a 4th year in a row? Its amazing EA gets away with putting out broken games every year.
