Are you bored of only using one foot in your music games? Did you decide not to slap down the cash for a Guitar Hero: Metallica pre-order? If you answered yes to both of these question, then this post is for you! Nyko announced today that it has released its Metal Pedal, a replacement bass pedal that's compatible with all Rock Band and Guitar Hero drum kits on all platforms. Sure, the pedal's metal-plated construction should make it attractive to all the leadfoots out there, but there's another addition worth noting. The Metal Pedal comes with a splitter that allows players to hook up two bass pedals to either Rock Band or Guitar Hero drum kits.
A quick note on compatibility: According to Nyko, the Metal Pedal splitter can be used with the standard bass pedal for Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero drum kits. The splitter functionality does not work with Rock Band 1 drum kits. Keep in mind that this only applies to the splitter, the Metal Pedal by itself is still compatible with all existing Rock Band and Guitar Hero drum kits.
The Metal Pedal is shipping now and will retail for $19.99.

That will work about as well as HMX putting an 1/16th of an inch metal plate on the RB2 pedals. Don't get me wrong, it was a smart idea. It just didn't solve the problem. If you press the RB1/2 pedals down with your hand, you can see that they bend right in the middle. It doesn't take long before they crack on the sides. I now use a Rock Pedal with a KD8 trigger pad and kickbox.

I just went down to home depot an grabbed one of those flat metal pieces they use for reinforced framing. Screwed it onto my broken pedal, and it's been solid as a rock ever since.
Do people really want double-bass that badly? I want a damn hi-hat pedal, then separate cymbals, then maybe double-bass.

I saw this at a gamestop yesterday, and daaammmn, it is freakin MASSIVE. If any of you out there thought either of the pedals were too small, this is for you. I would have gotten it, but I don't really have too much time to spend on it...or money.

Destroyer, Rock pedal, omega pedal... all of them. Anything over 200kr (roughly $30 these days) gets slapped with customs and VAT. Oh, and there's VAT on the customs. For some bizarre messed up reason.
You used to be able to mark stuff as a gift to avoid it, but now they blocked that too.
Please God, let me finish my damn education and get out of this shit hole.

They're certainly not making it any better.
Since the NOK has taking a bigger hit than the USD, it's essentially shrinking the amount of which I can spend before hitting that sneaky VAT cap. So far, about $10 total.
Then again, the pound has taken a bigger hit than the NOK and ordering things from the UK is quite lucrative these days - although it doesn't help me in this incident.
The metal plates work great yeah, and they are just cheap enough to import. However, I got the "bad" break (the one that breaks at the hinge, not closer to the middle) rendering the plate useless. The plate designed for my type of break? Just over the limit, at which point it would almost be cheaper buying an entire new drum kit.
The reason I'm excited about this Nyko pedal is that it's a rock band pedal at retail. I really couldn't care if it broke on me after a couple months - at this price I could go buy a new one hassle-free.

I had this the other day and as a heads up to everyone, you CANNOT hold one pedal down with your foot and play with the other, so I returned it and got the official RB2 pedal with splitter by Harmonix for $25 and it is way better than this

Yeah, the official Harmonix Rock Band 2 drum pedal is worth the extra $5. Then you have two that match and one that you can hold down.

A metal pad with a splitter that works with Rock Band and GHWT kits? Awesome! Now I don't have to worry about the fact I didn't pre-order GH Metallica for the second pedal... wait, it doesn't work with RB1 drumkits? Aw!
Guess I'm gonna have to sell my RB1 kit in order to get RB2's...

I've broken 5 official pedals. 3 rb1 and 2 rb2. (after very, very heavy use. Not like playing 1 song and stomping it into oblivion)
At this point I'm willing to bet spending 75 on 1 Omega will be better than the numerous replacements I'll have to buy after I break this sucker =P

My Review from Amazon.com:
I finally received the Nyko Metal Pedal (NMP), and put it through a quick test on both Rock Band 2 (RB2) and Guitar Hero World Tour (GHWT) on my Xbox 360.
As far as video game drum controllers go, I have the Rock Band, GHWT, RB2, and even the Rock Revolution controllers.
My first RB1 pedal cracked into two pieces. My second RB1 pedal developed a similar crack, and I purchased the Blockhead Hit Kit for its replacement pedal. My first GHWT pedal went defective as well. (My RB2 pedal has since replaced the Blockhead pedal, and is going strong.)
The NMP seems like the Rock Band 2 pedal design, super-sized. Both the base and the pedal itself are wider, but the overall design is similar. I prefer the larger size, as opposed to the Blockhead Hit Kit's smaller pedal.
In addition, for GHWT, you finally have a pedal that doesn't move during gameplay or tilt from side to side.
Also included is a dual pedal adapter, which is basically a splitter for the input jack. The NMP + RB2 pedal seemed to work fine for me in RB2. However, the NMP + GHWT pedal did not; the NMP would not always register. As soon as the GHWT pedal was removed from the splitter, the NMP would register every time. Perhaps on GHWT, you need two NMPs for it to work properly.
I'm not a fan of the art design, but it's under your foot all the time so who cares!
Pros:
* Like a super-size version of the Rock Band 2 pedal (that's a good thing)
* Includes a splitter for double bass pedals
Cons:
* Double pedal doesn't seem to work with NMP + GHWT pedal combo
Bottom Line:
You need this if you have a cracked pedal OR you want a Rock Band 2-style pedal for use with Guitar Hero World Tour.
