EA is big on "micro-destruction" in its upcoming Bad Company sequel, as evidenced in gameplay footage screened during GDC. Building on the tearing down of the first game's environments, it's now possible to shoot out the most wee little details -- bricks, for example.
EA isn't big on showing what the game actually looks like. The new screens -- all two of them -- the publisher has released are ... well, they could be from practically any military FPS. But hey, at least they offer a glimpse of gameplay from the DICE-developed title, unlike the "all style, no substance" first trailer.

I'm curious to see how improved the destruction is, because the destruction in the first Bad Company was pretty terrible. Maybe it was more than just a bunch of pre-determined breakpoints, but that's what it looked like to me.

I personally think saying its terrible is a bit of a stretch. Sure, it wasn't like some of the Crysis buildings where they'd fall apart. But I thought it was really nice and also very handy.

I thought the destruction system was brilliant. It was far better than anything done before on consoles, as most destruction systems go over the top and look ridiculous. BC had a use for it's destruction and did it well.
The only thing I will agree with what you said though is that it was a little predetermined, but we're only really just entering the age where these destruction systems can be done. These things will take time to perfect.

As for the screens, they look seriously nice. Looks sharper than the original, and much better without that film grain (though the film grain does suit the original imo).

there's an interview on gamespot where one of the devs says that they have expanded the destruction system to where some buildings can be completely destroyed to the ground, and also smaller 'chunks' can be chipped away from cover, I'm guessing that it will still be predetermined points, but with a larger and smaller scale of the destruction I think it will be a lot more unique.
I liked the destruction in BC, never seen anything like it in an online game like BF, I especially liked that explosions caused craters in the ground. That being said I'm glad that they are expanding it and improving on it to beyond the standard predetermined 'destruction points' that are all relatively the same size.

I think that a prestige option should be compulsory now for online FPS games.
That and Killcam is always missed. I can see how that could spoil some games though.
I was a big fan of BFBC so I'm really looking forward to this. I had severe lag problems though, hopefully that won't the case this time.

I never understood the appeal of prestige, all that work and time for a little thing next to your name? I mean if it was just leveling up again that's cool, but losing all your weapons? What's the point?

This was a very nice installment of battlefield and the destructive elements made it a MUCH deeper and richer experience than something like COD. Firing a RPG into the side of a building and then mowing down the unsuspecting people inside was pretty fun i mean cmon. Part two should be a blast...

Hmm, in pic one it kinda looks like there's an ACOG scope on the m16 and in pic 2 that's a reflex sight. Interesting...

two different guns and two different squad positions... its probably still not a choice, just to show they did a little research on actual squad tactics

If they want my money for this game then they need to fix the first one so that it's possible to get Platinum, because at the moment it's not.

Bad Company is really the only game that I play consistently on Live even though it can be pretty frustrating like some have already said.
I really hope they at least include some form of anti aliasing (or a bump to 1080) because the jaggies are horrendous.

BFBC was okay but I got bored after a while and traded it in.

I'm going to have to agree with most blogs and readers out there that if they don't keep the humor, this isn't Bad Company. Oh, and maybe tone down that omniscient AI just a tad. =D

Yeah.. I'm hearing Y'all n found it very interesting .......This is my view.......Bad Company is the best online game of it's genre by a mile. Not least for the grounbreaking destruction possibilities which "cmon" are unique and only the beginning.. It's CoD + everything else a tactical, logistical, not running round in circles modern warfare game should be.The maps are expansive and allow for every game to be totally unique. It was after dodging a jeep in a golf cart and jumping out to kill the exited driver with a shot gun and switching to rocket launcher to destroy the jeep and other occupants before jumping back into said cart that I realized just how good this game was.If Bad Company 2 has better graphics ,which it must, and the Comms can be sorted and the chopper controls then I'm pre-ordering.Hell I'm Pre-ordering anyway
These are still early days for serious Online console gaming but Bad Company is setting standards..Bring on Bad Co 2........

This game was tight to me i liked how real it is like when they throw a bomb it blows the wall down like real life unlike call of duty but i hate how there were a lot of Russians and then its only four of you but your doing most of the work the game isn't that hard though i had it for a few days and almost done never can get the time to finish

The main things I want in BC2 is more cover, be able to go prone, a multiplayer mode deathmatch only because some people don't like gold rush, and customizable weapons
