Oh boy, looks like they're really phoning it in.

Has anyone made that joke yet? "Phoning it in"? It seems kind of obvious, and there's been quite a few articles on here about iPhone games lately, but I just want to make sure I'm using a fresh pun here. In any case, I'll be nabbin' some of this when it comes.

Ugh, I would really love it if you guys stopped posting iPhone related articles even if they are about "games."

Your sister site Engadget already covers everything you could imagine iPhone/iWhatever and does it while stroking their c..ego to the apple logo.

Ugh, I really wish people like you would stop coming into iPhone articles bitching about the device and how much Apple sucks.

Quit being a simpleton and ignore the articles if you don't like it.

I'm not bitching about the device or implying Apple sucks. It's just that we have Engadget for Apple articles and Joystiq for console gaming. I mean Joystiq rarely ever covers PC games or MMOs because we have a sister site for that, no sense for these iPhone articles.

I definitely felt that way when they'd initially started putting PC content on here, but then I got over it. Then I started to feel the same way when iPhone articles started appearing here. But I think the fact that there has been a Metal Gear game, and a Ghostbuster game (in the same timeframe as upcoming console versions), etc., that they do have their place here.

PS - I don't have an iPhone, but I was totally one of the first people to get an iWhatever and now there are posers everywhere just jocking like they were in on it before it was cool. No, no, no, kids. I was there.

Good point, Joystiq should stop posting articles about the 360 since Engadget covers Microsoft already.

Also, Joystiq coves MMO's and PC gaming ALL THE TIME! Heck there a Diablo article 2 stories down. Look I was way out of line snapping at you like that, but this is a gaming blog and the iPhone plays games. Currently a LOT of develoeprs are focusing on the iPhone and Joystiq is just reporting about it. It's not like their going out of there way to find stories.

Plus no offense to Edgadget but there "game coverage" leaves much to be desired.

Agreed. If you're going to cover iPhone games, then you might as well cover all cellphone games.

I understand that the iPhone is popular and that a lot of the Joystiq staff have one themselves, but that doesn't make it a gaming platform. If you're going to treat it like one, then give it's own Ultrastiq spoke. I come here for gaming news, not iPhone worship.

@NaeemTHM

No offense buddy but the nearly 5 years I've been around on Joystiq they rarely post PC or MMO related articles unless they have something to do with consoles or they are reporting from some gaming related event and try to cover everything. There is also a cellphone sister site as well. I'd be more willing to accept these iPhone articles if they covered more PC games at least and not just multiplatform ones. And I keep up with nearly all the Joystiq articles because I have RSS readers on all my electronic devices and seeing iPhone under Joystiq and Engadget and several other sites is a little unnerving. It is called Joystiq, not Touchscreen or Capacitivebuttons. They never go out of their way to comment on other mobile phone games or even nGage games (thank god) either.

"Agreed. If you're going to cover iPhone games, then you might as well cover all cellphone games"

OK...this is just a copy paste from another comment I made, but it applies here:

It's the same reason Joystiq doesn't cover every Tiger handheld. Most cell phone games are 15 minute distractions and are usually not huge sellers. The iPhone and iPod Touch have permeated the gaming industry more than any other cell phone before it. 800 million applications have been downloaded to the device, a third of which are games. Sure a LOT of the games are the same crappy cellphone games we're used to, but many are also full blown console titles. Games like PuzzleQuest and the recently released Wolfenstein offer just as much depth as a PSP or DS title.

Lastly, it's not Joystiq that's putting focus on the iPhone. It's developers. Their the ones that are coming out of the wood work to make the next best game on the iPhone.

@Anticrawl

You know, now that I think about it, this site is a little light on PC gaming. But no more so than Kotaku or most other gaming sites. As for all these Apple/iWhathaveyou articles; I believe there is a way to block all iPhone related articles. Next to the URL you have to drop :no iphone or something similar. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

This holds true for Apple's i(cell)Phone as well. Thing is lots of cellphone games are not just 15min distractions and are in fact huge sellers. One example that often comes to mind is Digital Chocolate's Tornado Mania!

You know when I was young, he wasn't that bad a dude. Sure, he slimed Venkman, but seems to me the rest of my memories were of the little spud bringing delicious Ekto Cooler to the world. Yeah, Hi-C, to kids of the world. Now he's demonized as sliming everyone in the city.

"Who you gonna call ... on your iPhone?"

lol, silly blogger, iPhones aren't for calling.

I doubt that you'll see an iPhone used primarily for voice calls until the apple software engineers discover a way to add the tag "This call made from my iPhone" to every call...
