This is probably one of the dumbest ones today, really stupid.

The best one I've seen so far, is gmail's new autoreply app. Pretty hilarious. The best one is the auto reply to the Nigerian email scam

And you forgot their other April Fools - GTA: Harbour City. Poor Aussies just want a little love. That isn't so much to ask, right?

I don't think you're imagining the fanboys who pee themselves a little when they see this, and then have huge, blubbering tears (perhaps manga-style?) when they find out is a lie.

"Well, we guess this is one way to show the hardcore that you haven't abandoned them."

I can't imagine they'd need this to expand their "hardcore" appeal. SSB is one of their most notably "hardcore" franchises. Looks like IGN didn't even try this year.

Wow, lost a lot there. - All they'd need to do is release another SSB to appeal to the "core." All the excessive violence would do is alienate the more casual crowd that is also drawn to SSB.

IGN you need to try harder than "nintendo releasing a mature rated smash bros". No one in their right mind would believe that.

Mayhap IGN doesn't want to come off as cruel, tantalizing readers with something dearly wanted and clearly possible. Something like a confirmation of a "Mother: The Complete Collection for North America for Nintendo DS"

They'd probably do it as a DSiWare release. Less risk of it tanking that way.

How is there less chance of it tanking on a much smaller install base?

I think you're kind of missing the point. I don't think they're expecting anyone to believe it.

As a digital download, there's fewer costs involved. No manufacturing, packing, shipping, or stocking. Therefore, if it tanks (which is questionable for a digital-only game to "tank," as it'd be on sale as long as it's available for download...), there'd be a smaller risk involved.

Though i'm rather proud of myself that i understood most of that Japanese. Means i'm progressing nicely.

I thought it was a bit amusing.

Although, it wouldn't be called "Super Smash Bros. Brawl X: Extreme," just "Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Extreme." "X" is just part of the Japanese title: "Dairantou Smash Bros. X."

The video pretty funny. I wasn't expecting anything as big as last year (Zelda Movie) because keeping it lower key seemed a better way to fool people. Im also baffled that 50cent blood on the sand still wasn't a April fools joke.

Come on how stupid can IGN get. Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series has always been violent, but never gory. Nintendo themselves do not release any gory games, all of them are released by 3rd party companies. Nintendo also knows, that a violent version of Smash Bros. would fail terribly, because people who play Brawl like it for being good clean fighting fun.
