"Joke" might be too strong a word, actually. It's not really ha-ha funny so much as it's "Mom-would-like-this" funny. Of course, given Wii Fit's demographic, that might be the point ...

I would be happy if Wii Fit Board had no emotions whatsoever. Because the thing of it is once you go down that road... here's Wii Fit Board, an emotional being cooped up for 316 days with no one to talk to... none of the socialization, the emotional growth that comes from contact with other emotional beings...
So...?
What happens if Wii Fit Board gets mad?

I expected a significant joke, not something that isn't any different from all the other daily messages you get.

He got downvoted to oblivion in like 3 minutes. Being ostracized (or rather, ostrich-zied) by the Joystiq community is, in my opinion, more of a blow than having your super ignorant comment deleted, thereby no longer announcing to everyone "hey, I think it's really cool to rip on homosexuals because I didn't think a video was amusing. I also have the maturity of a junior high student." I think joystiq should leave it up.

Is that it?
Dear God.
Somehow that speech bit 'sounded' exactly like Dr Kawashima on his little bubbles when he tells you how inferior your brain is. Don't know how that works, but it 'sounds' like him in all his smug hexagonalness. And the WiiFit board doesn't even have a cartoon mouth. It should.

Wow. lame. If it would have gone to the normal Wii Fit calibration screen and said something like that, it would have been hilarious, but that's just stupid. Come on Nintendo, be a LITTLE creative.

the wii balance board joke sucked.
I'm not a troll, but I'm about to rant here......
since when did using gay to indicate you don't like something become "immature"?
as far as I'm concerned using "gay" as a negative is just as socially accepted as using "sweet" to show you like something
apparently there are several pro-gay "politically correct" grammar cops on this website
by all means downvote me and prove my point though
sometimes the internet gives me headache.....

"Gay" indicates a section of the community that is already ostracized and picked on. Reinforcing the word's negative connotations does nothing to help prejudice against them. "Sweet" is just an adjective.
I bet a lot more people would be offended if we started using the world "black" or "American" to mean "retarded" in the context of a sentence.

I never insulted gay people. I was simply defending the use of the word.
I am not for being racist either. That's taking it to a whole other level.
If I started using bob as a cuss word, would that mean I have something against all bobs ?
it's a silly example but you get the point.

no. Just no.
Gay refers to a person who is attracted to someone of his/her own gender. So unless the Balance Boards start fucking each other, its NOT PROPER USAGE.
Retarded on the other hand (just to use an example) refers to someone whose IQ is below a certain level, but it also means slow, ineffective, or hindered. So saying that the joke was retarded could result in using the word the right way.

pissing off people can be loads of fun sometimes.
don't get your panties in a bunch people.
gay is just a word. how you define it is up to you.
as a matter of fact I am friends with some lesbians.
they don't care if I use gay as a negative word.

"as a matter of fact I am friends with some lesbians"
We, I've seen a black person before, so I might as well just start using the N-word! HILARIOUS! I also once walked by a synagogue, so that gives me the right to call Jews hymies! IM LIKE A WHITE RICHARD PRYOR! DONT YOU REALIZE HOW FUNNY I AM BY THROWING OUT DEROGATORY PHRASES INSTEAD OF MAKING OBSERVATIONAL HUMOR ABOUT SAID PEOPLE?!?
Also, saying "gay is just a word" is like saying Institutionalized Racism is just an idea

By using "gay" to mean something negative, you're basically saying "gay" is a negative thing. It's like saying something is "retarded".

Also, because a few lesbians are ok with you using "gay" in a negative fashion does not mean all gay people do. If your black friend was cool with you dropping the n-bomb every now and again, you wouldn't be saying it in front of strangers, now would you?

'"Mom-would-like-this" funny.' Allow me to relate to that line.
This morning, my mum laughed at this. A lot. I nodded and said "Yeah, haha."
I'm the kind of person who laughs at anything, so yeah; it was a teensy bit rubbish. Just a teensy bit.

Would've been better if it continued the "broke Balance Board" thing throughout the use. Like doing a balance test and it shows your weight just shifting every which way, then showing you gained 20 pounds since yesterday.
Surprised other games don't do something like this. It seems like only this and Animal Crossing adjust to your system's clock/calendar. Love to see them incorporate it into Fable or something.
