Newsflash: Developers and publishers want you to buy their games. Doubly so if they plan to release their wares during the year-end holidays, as is the case with Modern Warfare 2. In fact, Activision brand manager Simon Wells told MCV that the company hopes Modern Warfare 2 will be the "biggest selling video game of all time," beating out the high sales figures of Call of Duty 4 and Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War.
We're not going to say that people aren't excited about Infinity Ward's sequel (our tips inbox proves it), but we're going to need more than a teaser trailer if we're to board the hype train. Although ... the inclusion of teddy bears does help.

Feba I like how you think there are so many more Wiis out there then 360s, and that PS3 have over 50 million units sold. And Wii Sports was packaged with the system so no that is not considered the No. 1 sold game, and neither are multiple of same games like nintendogs, or pokemon. The single most sold game is Super Mario Bros. 3 was at around 18 million, and CoD 4 is at 11.6 million and still going (because for a FPS its still selling new copies, even after two years). CoD WaW sold pretty well on the Wii, I won't be surprised if they do bring out MW2 on it (maybe even the PSP, haha) So I think it is possible!! 11/10/09 I also love the date they picked (its a count down 11..10..09 haha classic

Just because a game is linear and not original doesnt make it not a great game. The gunplay was great and it is easily accessible. That is what makes it sell so well. Sure CS is a modern shooter with similar guns, but the gameplay of the 2 games is completely different.
Fact of the matter is, just because the theme is the same, and it is linear does not make 2 different games the same. The difference between the 2 is very immense. I love both games, but I just get annoyed when people say that a game sucks because it was linear. I have played every half life game and several RPG's from final fantasy to knights of the old republic. I own all 3 consoles and a very nice computer to play games on. CoD 4 and all of its unoriginality/linearism is still by far my fave SP game to date...bar none!
The way the impliemented cinematic realism (notice that I didnt say realsim, but cinematic) was what made the game so fun. I very rarely play SP games more than 1 time. 2 times if they are great, but I have beatin CoD 4 SP on all 3 platforms (PC, 360, and PS3) atleast 2 times on each. My favorite difficulty was normal because I also do not believe that a game must be extremely challenging in order to be great. I dont know why people believe this as well. I am typing this from my basketball locker room at my university so it is not to say that I am not competitive or dont like a challenge. That is just not the case.
There is no specific formula for success, but some people seem to think that their opinion of what makes a good game is fact. Open world games are fun for some and linear games are fun for some. Why cant linear be good? Not everyone wants to have to think all of the time...I do that enough in grad school.
Best,

If COD6 can make it so that multiple avenues can be used to get through the campaign, and get rid of AI that can spam grenades exactly on one's location with esper-like efficiency, it'll be a winner.
I agree with 3ball...what made COD4 so addictive was the perk system and also the fact that it was EASY and FAST to get online for quick 10 minute games or so. Compare that to the original Resistance, which seemed to take forever to get online, or worse, Socom 2, which seemed to take all eternity to get online, plus the fact that if you were new to it, you'd get gunned down in 30 seconds and have to wait YET another 7 minutes for the round to end and the next one to start.

I am gonna assume that this game has a few missions that take place in RdJ, Brzl and that it is a terrorist attack. The terrorists are targeting the citizens including children judging from the teddy bear. It will be a mission where you are supposed to protect and rescue the civilians. Just a guess...

I will not be buying this. I loved the Call of Duty series up until COD4. The single player was just horrible, don't even get me started. Then the multiplayer was fun for about 2 months then it got boring. It was WAY too easy not only does it take only a few bullets to kill someone, but you can also shoot through walls, making it even easier. Then being able to just run up toss a frag randomly in the air and easily getting kills. Then there are the perks which made the game worse especially juggernaut. I have shot people in the head with a 50 cal. and have then just walk away like nothing happened. Yea, and people said this game was realistic, lol. The only thing that kept me playing was wanting to rank up and earn weapons, then once I did that I found out that you can get everything deleted and do it all over again. So, I stayed a 55 and got bitched at every game that I did good in because I stayed at 55. Then I got COD:Waw the singleplayer was actually enjoyable, but the multiplayer was the same as COD4, but with a WWII paint job, that game only lasted a few weeks because again it was way to easy and boring. So, now comes MW2, yea im not going to get it. Seriously COD is the next Madden. Every year coming out with the same game, but with a new feature or 2 and some new weapons. Will not be buying this one.

yeah with out a doubt, but can they think of the gamers pocket too also. please i mean obviously this game would sell millions of millions and that means they will make a huge profit so why cant they just lower the price little bit. im tired of paying $ 60 for a game now.

Ahh, another one of these games. The first one was okay to me. The multiplayer was decent, but it was nothing great. The storyline was cool until it abruptly ended. The best part was the camouflage level. Oh well I traded my copy in to G-Stop with PGR 3 for Suikoden: Tierkries. I only ended up paying 8$ for my copy.
I will pick it up again when I see it cheap and used at like $10-$15.
Will Modern Warfare be the best selling games of all time..........no. It cant contend with the powerhouses.like Halo, Zelda, Gears of War, Final Fantasy.......the list goes on.
It has had a good run though and if they make it longer than the 6-8 hour single player campaign maybe I will pick it up.
