God, I get disconnected when playing Street Fighter all the time. It's during player matches with friends so I know they aren't rage quits, christ, it happened 3 times immediately in a row yesterday, before we were even able to get past the character select screen. I already called my ISP and had them monitor my connection, they claim the signal is great, I'm not dropping packets, etc.. So I hope this helps. Curiously, sometimes when I get disconnected I also get that "disconnected from messenger" notice. I don't even use this messenger.. Could it be interfering with my connection somehow? How to I tell the 360 not to sign into that messenger crap?

Somewhere deep in the bowels of the NXE, there are the auto sign in options, allowing you to tell the xbox to auto sign in a certain profile. In that area is the option to turn off the auto messanger sign in. I think you get to it from the guide---> settings, profile settings, or something like that, then auto sign in options. Hope that helps.

Yes, that auto sign-in is somewhere... Took me a couple of days after my 360 came back from the RRoD factory to find it. It's definitely in the guide somewhere...

Press Guide and tab right to Settings. In the Edit Profile menu, the last option is Auto Sign-In.

I would check whatever hardware is between your xbox and your isp. Also, tweak router settings. I gotta say, I've been on live with an isp that's crap and the only disconnect I had with Live was when COD4 came out and they had that crushing demand of new online gamers. And that didn't last long either, but before or after that I've had no problems.

Messenger might be causing a problem, but it's doubtful. Mine is disabled. I think you can do that from the messenger tab itself, or in the startup preferences, iirc.

Does anyone here know if there's also an auto-storage selection option as well? When I got my 360 back from the depot, EVERY single game asks me which storage device I would like to use. I only have my 20gig harddrive, no memory cards or anything.

Any ideas?

I've just got it and it's made my start up of me console rely slow it just sits there and then goes to the dashboard. I had to reset 3 times to get it to work.

And it would recognize halo 3 untill I rebooted a fourth time

mine seems a little quicker, in the menu's.. marketplace itself is still slow at first, even with a game that only has a trailer, like R.U.S.E. (yeah, me neither).. but seems to sort itself after that one search, like Rock Band 2 content is up in a few seconds now

Man I really want Nextflix Partys. I'd love to watch Air Force One with some of the guys. That'd be a blast.

Overall I want a more stable system and free stuff more often.

@jbuers

You just made me spit coffee on my keyboard. Now that song is in my head with flashes of the Tanners driving their convertible on the Golden Gate, riding the trolley, and having a picnic.

Thank you

All I'm saying is MS promised Primetime in spring and we didn't hear anything at GDC.
So what's up, MS?

Wow, Sexualchocolate, your comment certainly went off the rails in a hurry.

Unfortunately, the update didn't fix the problem I'm having in downloading some of the Oblivion DLC that went on sale yesterday. *sigh*

I've been getting disconnected from Left 4 Dead recently and it's really annoying. Then shortly after, I get disconnected from Xbox LIVE altogether. I hope it's related to this and I hope the update fixes it. Otherwise I'm going to throw Bellsouth DSL in the shitter and find something else.

+2 to that (same with one of my friends).

I just hope this update doesn't brick my xbox like the last one did.

Same here. Made Left 4 Dead unplayable a couple weekends ago. Constant disconnects.

Hopefully this update fixes it.

Same here, I get kicked out of Live, too. My ISP says there are lots of errors on my line and they won't/can't fix it. TDS is the only ISP in the area. F****** sucks.

Hmm I don't think seven lines really constitutes a wall of text.

Didn't the powers that be at MS say that the one of the things they liked about the NXE is that they were going to be able to do a lot more system updates and things of that nature much more frequently than they did before when they had those ridiculous "spring updates" or "fall updates" that you ended up getting at the last possible second. I just wondered because that doesn't really seem to be happening like they said. I could be wrong if things like this count. Any thoughts?

I haven't had many disconnect issues with games (although some days I can't connect with some of my friends...getting someone else to host fixes that).

Hopefully a party chat fix is included with the "interruption issues" fix. I get disconnected (it tells me that everyone else has left) from it a lot and the voice chat drops for around 20 seconds quite often.

I have a feeling the party chat issue is related to my SF4 disconnect issue. I recall playing this particular friend (that I mentioned having DC issues with in above post) once but we were talking in party chat instead of via the SF4 lobby, and when we got disconnected from our game, I'll also get the notice that my friend has "left the party." This is SF is my first real online gaming experience on Live (just got a 360 several months ago and primarily played single player RPGs and stuff before this) and I have to say it's been rather frustrating...

LMFAO, seriously though I enjoy fox news for entertainment purposes, I watch my local channel CLTV for my news. Back to the dumb ass update, what exactly does it do, I'm so tired of these fucking mystery updates. I've already been hit hard by the NXE virus, and to this day Microsoft refuses to remove if from my console. SMH, for now I will sit quietly and wait for a unified console...and, no I don't mean PC or Mac.

This update is more likely to help those with lagging with the guide button. I've had a lot of slowdown using the blades menu. After applying the update it seems a bit faster. Not something significantly better, but there's improvement.

Oh how I hope so. Since NXE, I've been stuck in the guide for 20-30 seconds while my friends play on without me. One of the most annoying things possible next to being constantly booted from LIVE as one friend experiences now after NXE. I've had three RROD since NXE as well but I'm still on the fence about them being related, despite my pals arguing for that being the case. Plus I now refuse at times to invite friends to games until we are all in a lobby because of fear of freezing.

Anyhow can anyone else confirm?
