DSi Shop's American lineup is ... diverse
So, Nintendo has announced all the games you'll be able to purchase for your brand new DSi in the online DSi Shop on April 5. The list is ... well, we were going to say "eclectic", but it's just plain weird. You can Nintendo's full descriptions after the break, but here are the titles:
- WarioWare: Snapped!
- Bird & Beans
- Brain Age Express: Math
- Master of Illusion Express: Funny Face
- Art Style: AQUIA
- WarioWare: Snapped! – Using the built-in Nintendo DSi camera, this outrageous title puts players right at the center of fast-paced mini-games, challenging them to race the clock and get a peek at Wario's photo album.
- Bird & Beans – Using an elastic tongue, players must scramble to collect falling beans. The harder a bean is to catch, the more points it's worth.
- Brain Age Express: Math – In this math-focused edition of the popular Brain Age series, players can enjoy a mix of new and familiar training exercises. A new Themes mode also lets Nintendo DSi users experiment with images and voice recordings in fun, unusual ways.
- Master of Illusion Express: Funny Face – This game uses your Nintendo DSi as a prop in a card trick. Draw a face on the touch screen and astound your audience as the face tells them which playing card they picked.
- Art Style: AQUIA – The newest addition to the eye-popping Art Style series, this mesmerizing underwater puzzle game challenges players to help a scuba diver reach the ocean floor by matching a series of colored blocks.

That's all it will launch with? geezz
Ignatius @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:34AM
It's almost like the N64 launch. Here's Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings, have fun!

thing about the N64 tho it was a BRAND new console with NO library of games other than what it launched with. the DSi still has access to all but a few of the DS games. so a few DSi specific games are good enough as well already know that Japan has a SLEW of DSi games
acefondu @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:01AM
And another thing? Mario 64 pwns this line-up 10 times over. I'd play Mario 64 until my eyes started bleeding rather than trying out any of these games.
Ridgecity @ Apr 3rd 2009 4:09PM
It's an upgraded ds, they are not going to release 30 games for it, specially since they are selling so well.
Look at the PSP, it sells even with no good game releases during this year.
Puffles @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:30AM
I wish someone would release a flash card that's compatible with the DSi. For me, no try-before-you-buy + no homebrew = no purchase.
PCIV @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:48AM
There ARE... usually the ones with the i suffix.
Alan @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:48AM
The acekard2i has been confirmed to work with the AUS, EU, and JPN versions of the DSi. Mine's in the mail :)
Miles @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:51AM
theres 2 or 3 already out, they both work on the DSi, and supercard will probably make one come their being actual retail DSi games in America. All since America is the country full of crooks that can't spend their money on the games they want.
-dash- @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:31AM
I'll be picking up none, because I really don't see the need to bother with a DSi. What's this new SKU going to give me that the Lite already doesn't? Perhaps except a slightly bigger screen, slightly better speakers and a dire 0.3MP Camera with a boat load of picture taking mini-game collections on the way.
Puffles @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:34AM
For me, the best new feature is the clicky, responsive buttons that are replacing the mushy crap the Lite has.
Cody @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:19AM
Good point Puffles.
JXCgunrunna @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:31AM
seeing as how i dont have an ipod, this will be a good portable music player. a little big but that and the ability to have firmware updates will be worth it
bet0n @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:48AM
Well, what is often overlooked, it has 2 times more computing power (altough not that easy to use) and more RAM -> that could result in some games really pushing it to the bounds and we can see some nice effects on the DSi
BrokenMonkey @ Apr 2nd 2009 3:25PM
It's going to replace the DS eventually, and you'll have to have one to play any new games. Just like the DS replaced the GBA and the GBA replaced the GBC and the GBC replaced the GB.
Husher @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:34AM
Non of those...
jeeze is right what kinda attack on the market of micro transactions is this???
Mr Khan @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:39AM
The service will only get more diverse from here. Some of the stranger stuff is already hitting across the Pacific.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Apr 2nd 2009 9:40AM
I wont be getting a DSi until the price is below $150 or until they have a SINGLE Nintendo store for both the Wii and DSi....essentially how I can play PS1 games on my PS3 & PSP I want to be able to do the same thing with NES & SNES games on the Wii & DSi and NOT have to buy the game twice or have the funds available only to DSishop or Wiishop...thats dumb as hell...
LenN @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:19AM
im picking up wario: snapped with those paints. wait for the good ones too come later ;)
mts @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:07AM

Timerider @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:14AM
I don't see the browser in that list.
Alex Sohn @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:56AM
I believe the browser is it's own separate thing, and if I remember correctly, it's free as well.
coffins outside the door @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:50PM
The browser is built in.
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:52PM
It's not built-in, it's a downloadable app. But, it's been free on the other shops.
Timerider @ Apr 2nd 2009 2:14PM
I saw the browser in the Australian list.
door0122 @ Apr 2nd 2009 12:25PM
That's assuming it takes off and publishers decide not to split their market share by making DSi-only titles, or watering things down to be able to release a DS version and a DSi version.
la tigresa xx @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:50AM
Gimmicks, gimmicks.
Dv8thwonder @ Apr 2nd 2009 11:09AM
Most of these negative comments come off sounding like naysayers of the original DS launch. If you give it some time these titles will get increasingly better.
Griffin83 @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:20PM
The original DS has a horrible launch ... and rightfully so ... it was the DS Lite that saved Nintendo's portable market ... it would seem Nintendo just likes to make minor upgrades and take people's money (gamecube *cough* wii)
Plokosh @ Apr 2nd 2009 11:25AM
So its got clicky buttons ala DS-phat? Hmmm...that makes it a bit tempting for me since I can't stand the mushiness of the d-pad on the lite, plus my L trigger has died (I'm on my third ds lite, all replaced with the same issue).
MED @ Apr 2nd 2009 5:04PM
Do you have a hammer as a left index finger!?
jukeboxsabotage @ Apr 3rd 2009 10:12PM
I do and let me tell you......
IT IS AWESOME
Puddles @ Apr 2nd 2009 11:45AM
They expect people to buy a new system for that? I hope they're prepared for low initial sales numbers.
Moptimus Slime (Gobot in disguise) @ Apr 2nd 2009 4:46PM
yeah, especially with the record number of preorders for the system!
Wait, what?
atastysammich @ Apr 2nd 2009 11:49AM
"Bird & Beans?" Ha! Sell me Pyoro twice, shame on me!
Josh @ Apr 2nd 2009 11:56AM
w00t!
AgentGoomba @ Apr 2nd 2009 12:29PM
I want my DSi just to play my kirby superstar ultra.... That and the fact that the DSi now supports WPA/WPA2 for mario kart DS =D
MowDownJoe @ Apr 2nd 2009 12:33PM
WPA support won't work on older games. You'll have to wait for the DSi-Enhanced games to come out.
Painful, I know... I have to leave my wifi network unsecured just for my DS... (well, unsecured with a MAC filter and without broadcasting the network ID... so, it's decently safe, but not SECURE.)
AgentGoomba @ Apr 2nd 2009 12:45PM
Wow, my world just fell apart..... Oh well. I like your network setup mowdown. I'm gonna try that or just make a second network w/ the same set up to so I dont have to keep changing it.
iofthestorm @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:08PM
Uh, just FYI, a MAC auth list is completely insecure because anyone capturing packets in the area can see the MAC addresses of computers on your network, and then change their MAC address to one of those and confuse the hell out of your router. I think the better thing is to get a router with DD-WRT and then configure a second WLAN with WEP and the primary one with WPA, and then figure out how to limit that WEP network to one device at a time. This is what I did, excep I can't get it to limit it to one device at a time, but people told me it was possible.
Timerider @ Apr 2nd 2009 2:16PM
The router from my ISP only supports WPA-personal (I think thats what it's called).
AgentGoomba @ Apr 2nd 2009 7:23PM
I actually have a dd-wrt router. I'm gonna set that up as soom as I pick up the dsi :)
Max Headroom @ Apr 2nd 2009 12:47PM
I'd like to get a DSi, especially since I think the battery on my old DS is not recharging anymore. However, I also want to save up for some drums, and a new DS would take a huge chunk out of my percussion fund. Seeing as there's nothing terribly exciting here, I don't feel like I'm missing much. For now anyway. That could easily change if they started offering downloadable classic-style Mario platformers.
KidKobun @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:39PM
Holy smokes! The more I see the DSi the more I want one. I don't know if I can get rid of or if I even want to get rid of my DS Lite. I reside in CA and took it with me to the Nintendo World Store to get laser engraved with 8-Bit Mario-it has sentimental value and I don't think that I would trade it for the world. After all I wanted to go to NY for the longest time and I got to stay there for like two weeks when I did. I never walked so much in my life BTW.
At any rate I am getting off topic. I want a DSi and I am keeping my DS Lite.
End of story.
motang @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:38PM
I shall hold on my 1,000 points!
BPMOmega [gamertag] @ Apr 2nd 2009 1:54PM
Bird & Beans = Pyoro
HELL YES.
Though, I have no idea why they felt the need to rename it... not like we haven't heard of "Pyoro" before, as that's what he was called in all the WarioWare mini-games. Stupid American game companies...
J.K. @ Apr 2nd 2009 8:33PM
Guh so many whiners. Brain Age maybe worth it to some, me no as I'd like the Dr Mario part only so I can wait for the stand alone. The magic one admittedly is lame for sure, but Pyoro and Art style are fantastic choices and if you like having your picture taken Wario Ware is an obvious choice if you like those mini games. Seriously, relax...each monday another slew of super cheap downloads will come.
JRM @ Apr 2nd 2009 10:59PM
Save your Nintendo Points, those games suck!
Wait for Dr. Mario, or Meteos, Clubhouse Games, etc. These games are too popular to be Japan exclusives.
or wait for the bigger games that sell for 800 nintendo points.
the_game_master @ Apr 3rd 2009 10:36AM
I'm going to have to buy me one of these since my DS Lite didn't last quite so long. I've been going years without playing my DS games.
chibi_wings @ Apr 3rd 2009 8:42PM
Aquia sounds nice :D
