Gamasutra notes there are roughly 30 PS1 downloadable classics on the US PlayStation Store -- a number Sony promises to increase. From looking at the chart embedded above, we can see which titles are the most popular.
Crowning the top ten is Capcom's Street Fighter Alpha, which debuted back in August of last year. It's also not surprising to see Konami's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night near the top; however, it is interesting to note that two third-party titles are easily dominating the top spots, despite the fact that most available downloadable PS1 titles are published by Sony (including the eight other top ten games). If only third parties would react to this data, we'd have a more diverse library of classics.

Can't you just create a new an American PSN account and then buy the game if you don't have access to it now? That's what I did to get the European Killzone 2 Demo.

Yeah, but he needs means to PAY for it. I'm sure there's some site that you can buy American PSN cards in your local currency.

Sony's support for PS1 games is frankly, pitiful. You'd think that since the release of the ps3, most of them would already be available for purchase online, but they're not...
MGS1 or Silent Hill, I'd buy in a heartbeat, along with Driver.

Yeah but that graph only gives rank. Not saying its this meager of a number but if SFA is rank 1 with only 20 copies purchased, that wouldn't be much incentive to peruse other efforts.
Sony needs to stop just listen and deliever on features its community wants (text chat, I'm looking at you and your not voice having ass)
Dev's need to get the hint that we do want classics and we'll be glad to pay for the good stuff.

Crash Bandicoot looks like one I'd buy, but it's still at it's original Dec 2006 price. $5 would do me in.

Wild Arms has seen more sales than Suikoden? That's surprising. Still holding out hope for both of those games' sequels being released on the service. :P

As I've said before, they should not have a section called PS one Classics until they put up games like FFVII/VIII/IX, MGS, GTA, Doom, and other games like that. THOSE are classics.
(Half-kidding. At least they have Crash and Spyro (I want the other two!). They really do need to expand that collection seriously.)

Damn...I was hoping Suikoden would be at least number 10, so Konami would have more incentive to put up the sequel.
Come on, Konami, just do it...peer pressure...peer pressure...

They should atleast let you rip first party PS1 games onto your ps3 and then psp. That would make the psp much more popular and who knows? they might have to start producing ps1 games again....probably not but you never know

actually, it is possible to play ps1 games on your psp via Emulators. My friend did this, and he gets to play whatever he wants. Now obviously some games dont work perfectly, but its still pretty cool. Ive played Castlevania: SotN at his house, pretty coolz.

Yes, PS1 support stinks. This is a really great top ten list, nice to see Street Fighter still on top. Anyone can post their own to our site http://www.toptentopten.com/. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.
