Bethesda releases yet another fix for Fallout 3's The Pitt DLC
Like a broken record, we're obligated to inform you once again that Fallout 3's DLC "The Pitt" is available for download. Originally released back on March 24, many complained of freezes and glitches, causing Bethesda to take it down from Xbox Live. Soon after, Bethesda released a "fixed" version, but, actually, it wasn't fixed at all. Once again, Bethesda is reporting via the company's blog that The Pitt is available for download and is should be bug free.
If you previously downloaded The Pitt, you'll want to go into your harddrive and delete the old, corrupted file before downloading again.

Prox @ Apr 3rd 2009 10:54AM
Any word on when they're going to fix the bug that keeps me from progressing beyond level 20?
LordChimp @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:05AM
It is suppose to come out along with the third and last DLC at the end of this month or next (whenever they want to release it).
victorinvictus @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:15PM
That really isn't a "bug" it was just a mistake on Bethesda's part for putting the cap on it.
silver DewSky @ Apr 3rd 2009 10:58AM
good thing I haven't downloaded it yet. Hopefully this will be the last fix they need for the Pitt
Rhamsey @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:13PM
you think this has been a lot of fixes, imagine if instead of pittsburgh, it was jersey, the game would be bugged for years.
silver DewSky @ Apr 3rd 2009 1:24PM
haha yeah
DJcube @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:00AM
Fixes for what? I played through it twice with no problems.
Einhanderkiller @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:03AM
I think the problem was only for the Xbox 360 version.
DJcube @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:10AM
I have it on 360. First release was screwed up, but the second one was fine.
I Like Corn @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:13AM
Some people were still experiencing freezes in the slaver camp. They isolated the issue that wasn't affecting everybody, and now it should be fixed.
tmacairjordan87 @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:14AM
Yeah after they replaced the code I didn't have any problems. Granted, I'm not done with it yet but I'm on the last part of it and haven't had any problems. One tiny glitch was pretty sweet though. A guy's head I shot off kept flying around in the air spewing blood until I left the area.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:19AM
That sounds awesome!
Timerider @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:31PM
lol, yeah
Night Elve @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:13AM
Fallout is one of those game I would buy, but since I own the PS3 version I don't like the idea that once you finish the game you can't explore any further on that save file.
This makes me a sad panda :(
Night Elve @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:13AM
I mean I don't own a copy ... I own a PS3
InFaMoUs1- @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:20AM
well your missing and it's your loss. I got FO3 for PS3 at Circuit City dirt cheap and it is addicting. One of best game I've ever played on the PS3.
Petebot330 @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:42PM
Protip: Don't finish the game until you're done exploring.
Great Golem+ @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:48PM
You should definitely get it for PS3. Even with all the bugs and glitches it's still one of the best games out there.
Professor Lario @ Apr 3rd 2009 1:26PM
Buy this game. I am nearly 100 hours in and would guess I have a good 20 to go. this is without the DLC. It is the best game I have played in years.
Alphathon @ Apr 3rd 2009 3:13PM
Yeh, I totally agree, buy it, no matter what platform it's for (I myself have it for PC, which, while the "best" version is glitchy as all hell, and even more crash-prone than Oblivion for PC is). I can't be sure as I have the PC version, but what I did was complete it (I didn't actually meen to complete it when I did) then just loaded a previous save and kept going. It's kinda annoying, but doesn't bother me that much. You really need to play through it at least twice (if only for achievments/trophies), so you can just not complete it the second play through 'til you're sure your done
butaneko @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:19AM
Man I'm glad I decided to wait for the 3rd DLC after playing Anchorage.
Can someone please put MS Point cards on sale? I'm just pouring money into DLC these days.
anexanhume @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:36AM
I'm waiting for the third DLC to START the game. I want a continuous experience, so I've been holding off. I'm glad to see I've avoided this fiasco.
sayzar @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:10PM
anexanhume:
as long as you're not trying to rush through main quests only, there is more than enough in the game to keep busy now until they release the last DLC. Just do all the side quests. I stopped playing because I'm already max-ed out to level 20 and I still have about half of all quests to complete. It's a great game, so enjoy!
III Rex III @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:21AM
I can't be bothered, but could someone else photoshop the P out for a Sh on that picture?
baby sea tuna @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:24AM
Yes, I have a trained ape that could do that in about 30 seconds.
but he can't be bothered to either.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:22AM
I know. I made the fatal mistake of linking my XBL account to my credit card and now I don't even think twice about adding points to my account. I dread thinking about how much money I've spent on there in the last three years.
baby sea tuna @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:23AM
Blah blah...supposed to be a reply...blah blah...where's the fucking edit button...blah blah...
III Rex III @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:45AM
Oh snap. You've done me.
butaneko @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:24PM
Tell me about it. I'm particularly vulnerable on weekends between 1-5am, after beers and liquors have drunkened me. Last week apparently I downloaded NCAA 09: March Madness edition in such a state. I want my $15 back.
Jez @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:24AM
Why can't they just release a patch for it rather than making us delete and redownload? Is there some technical reason I'm missing?
heretrix @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:29AM
Bug free...Hahaha..Bethesda's got jokes.
Magic Whiskey @ Apr 3rd 2009 11:49AM
I'm one of the biggest Fallout 3 fans you'll find; I loved Operation Anchorage (and it's amazing loot; Chinese Stealth Armor is SWEEET!), and enjoyed The Pitt.
However..
Sadly, since I'd had issues with the Pitt, causing me to LOSE said sweet loot, I'll wait at least a week after the release of Broken Steel to purchase it for the bugs (scorpions, radroaches) to be worked out.
For the record, I cleared my 360 console cache (memory screen on Dashboard, LB, XX, RB I believe) and that helped. After I downloaded the second Pitt file and for safe measure re-downloaded Op. Anchorage, things seemed to work OK. I got my loot back. :)
(Thanks for the console cache info, DjDATZ)
ImbecilePete @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:10PM
why?
i never found any problems
and why not just patch it?
Marchantia @ Apr 3rd 2009 12:19PM
I wish they would publish the english version worldwide. I'm not downloading another one just because I happen to live in Germany!
Teabag @ Apr 3rd 2009 3:25PM
The kind of games Bethesda makes, the DLCs are surprisingly poor. The first one was almost a joke and that was because of the awesome gear you get in the end.
Pitt is very avg. The story was decent but it could have so much more depth to it; it would at least make it worth the price.
Evil Bastard @ Apr 3rd 2009 8:16PM
Broken Steel will not be the last DLC for Fallout 3, at least according to some news from GDC.
http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/03/27/gdc-2009-more-fallout-3-dlc-is-on-the-way/
Bethesda Softworks has already released two downloadable expansions for their hit post-apocalypse RPG game Fallout 3. A third expansion is due sometime in April. However it looks like fans of the game can expect even more DLC in the future, according to what was mentioned at a GDC panel this week.
According to Shacknews, the game's lead designer lead designer Emil Pagliarulo stated during the panel, "I can say we're working on lots of DLC. Lots of stuff brewing up here. God only knows where that may go. What famous landmarks can we destroy next?" The first two expansions took players to Anchorage, Alaska (via a holo-mission) and Pittsburgh. The third expansion, B
Alex @ Apr 3rd 2009 8:26PM
I bought both the dlc for the game but i think they are to short.... 3 missions in the pitt is kinda lame
Led @ Apr 4th 2009 10:58PM
Um...still freezes for me. Yes, deleted before re-downloading.
Can't enter "The Mill" anymore (from any entrance) without a severe lock-up, requiring shutting off the console. Happens on either of two Xbox 360 Elites I play the game on. Happens with any/all of my Pitt save-games now, old or new.
Anyone from Bethesda reading Joystiq on a regular basis? (I'd recommend it. ;)
If so, lemme know and I'll snail-mail my save-games on a memory card to ya; maybe that'll help finally track down and squash the freezing problem.
PS: "'Activate' steel ingot"? How about "Take" instead.
PPS: Next game, or next DLC, how about a one-button "Remove and drop" option, or something similar, for those hundreds of file cabinets, lockers, desks and crates that hold useless junk, but that I'll probably wind up checking again days or weeks later when I run across 'em again. Right now it's a pain to take, and then drop, the junk I don't want, in order to get the default "[Empty]" message to display when I look at a container.
Otherwise, game rocks. Can't stop playing.
Speaking of which, gotta get back to it...
