First Saw trailer fails to frighten, teases Konami event
25
Saw developer Zombie Studios apparently doesn't want us to see much of the movie license-based game it's working on. At least, that's what this first teaser trailer implies, as it features a maddeningly cheap shot of "gameplay," though it does suggest we'll see more on April 9 at Konami Gamer's Night from the newly confirmed publisher. Of course, that means another torturously long week of waiting. But, hey, at least that beats even one long day of waiting in a tortuously cruel room full of people you're loosely connected to in real life, eh?

Wow. That trailer did nothing to reassure me that this won't be anything but a cash-in.

I don't see how a saw game would be any fun. Is it going to end up being some sort of violent mini game gauntlet?

Aren't they a little late for a movie tie in? Or is there a Saw 8 on the horizon?
The graphics look like an awesome Wii game though.

PLEASE this is just what we don't need..... its going to be funny if they BAN this and they of course did not Ban the last 5 SAW movies.
Please do not bring out a Murdering game.... that is hell bent on causing pain and remorse. I love Killzone, COD 4-5 and even GTA. But to promote and release a game like this is silly..... don't we have imagination anymore... what happened to Mario what happened to new ideas.... I think the gamers should revolt on this one before it brings more bad press to our passion.

Just stick with Metal Gear, Konami. That's all you've ever been good with these days, as cruel as it sounds.

I don't see how this will work. The movie (I only "Saw" the first one and it was horribly bad) was only possible because the people in the situations acted unrealistically to the situations they were in. How are they going to make me act differently than my brain tells me to?

This is one of those games that sounds great on paper but ends up failing when the game moves. One of the main problems i see is that the saw movies don´t have any supernatural stuff, the real stars are the traps. I can´t see how you can make a funny game where the only real fun factor is to deactivate the trap before the victim dies, i mean what is going to happen between traps??? are you going to be attacked by evil jigsaw puppets chucky-style??? the only way this could work is if it ends up as a graphic adventure, picking up things and chasing jgsaw, maybe you could be an police officer trying to capture jigsaw, it could work like the classic gabriel knight game. unfortunately graphic adventures are no longer sellers, so it´s very unlikely that they are going to do this with saw. But the sad part is that this is the only way i think you could create a game of saw, so the question is... how are you going to solve this konami???? live or die that´s your choice, let the game begins......

Yeah, that can't be Tobin Bell playing as Jigsaw in this game. From the looks of it, it looks like a cash-in from the Saw series, shame they couldn't even get the actors to reprise their roles. Oh and the game has been announced for the PS3/360 back in Jan 2008, looks like they have a lot of work to do.

Do we really need a SAW game amidst all the GTA and crap we have in the gaming sphere? I mean really, do we need more controversy?
Two signs of a bad game:
A. The word 'Sandbox' comes up
B. It's only there for controversy
One of two doesn't make the game any better.

I seriously do not see the value of this game. Yeah, maybe a rental, but any replay value? Don't think so. It woul dbe fun if you could design your own torture map for players to download and play. I could imagine some seriously f'ed up timed multiplayer options though.

I'm hoping that this is PURELY a gorey puzzle game. I think that would be the best direction for a Saw game... Like The Crimson Room, but with more "crimson" :P Too bad that's not Tobin Bell doing the voice of Jigsaw, at least, it doesn't sound like him.

I really don't understand how this would work.
The intended horror of the Saw movies is that people are put into situations where they must either do horrible things to themselves or others in order to survive. So it wrings out squirming empathy when we see people jumping into pits of needles, cutting open people and fishing through their stomach, walking across glass, etc. etc.
How can this be turned into compelling gameplay when so much of gameplay is built on replaying hard parts, and progress is generally won by trial and error? Oh shit, I didn't make the jump and I fell into the lava, quick-load. Oh shit, I didn't find the key in time and my head was wrenched open by this reverse bear trap or whatever. Quick-load.
How are they going to make the player feel discomfort over their actions? "Press A to fish through man's body for key" isn't going to cut it. And how are they going to make the player value their health over the course of successive traps? Does Jigsaw kindly litter the place with health drinks, or green herbs?
That trailer did not give me the sense that they're asking themselves these sorts of questions. :|

Dang, really? We don't have any other talents in this industry? A game based on a poor movie to begin with. Konami should have just let this die and saved there money to buy out someone else. Instead of buying this piece of crap.
Where is the talent? Where is the good stories? I'm getting tired of these murder simulations that are just put out for controversy and shock value. 9,999 ways to mutalate a human body? Boring.
Bring back the good gameplay and story telling. But I guess Konami is not above all the Hollywood studios making all those krappie horror movies.
This will just be another tank like Man Hunt 2.
