I'm not sure I can go back after playing the later version of Zelda, specifically Phantom Hourglass and WindWaker. Those games, especially the latter, are outstanding, successfully building on what made the N64 games so cherished. Time will wither away what love I have for this game, I fear. And It's not like I have 1000 points to spare anyway.

I beg to differ.

This is certainly my second favorite Zelda behind Twilight Princess. And certainly the hardest.

Minish Cap was a damn fine Zelda too.

A link to the past for the win.
2D games hold up so much longer than choppy polygonal low bitrate bad cameara 1st Gen 3D games.
It might also be i grew up more w/ SNES than N64 (where i played my PS more).

I'm not sure either, but only because I'm anticipated a New Play Control of OoT MM and Windwaker.

I gotta say Eric E,

I too shared that feeling of the 2D Super NES gaming look just like you... until I got an N64. There was just something about that first 3D generation look that stuck with me. As hideous as alot of it looked in hinsight, I really enjoyed it and thought the N64 Zeldas were/are downright epic.

How come I never hear of love for Link's Awakening? I keep expecting it to be the dark horse candidate in Zelda threads that overtakes all other challengers.

Someday...

Chispito: Because LA is an overrated game that is inferior to ALttP in ALL aspects, and that requires you to have biased love out of nostalgia for it to consider it the best Zelda game.

MAJORA'S MASK ON VC!! YAY! That means it'll be coming to the US soon!

I'll FINALLY have a chance to beat it! I have bought this game twice in the past. The first time on N64: IT KEPT FREEZING ON ME! And with that save system, it was MADDENING!

The second time on the compilation disc for the GC: IT KEPT FREEZING ON ME!!!!!! AAAAAARRRRRRRGHHH!!!

So after my 7th or 8th time losing HOURS of gameplay due to freezes and that damn save system, I sadly vowed never to play that game again...

But now, NOW with the VC, it WON'T freeze! Ha! AHAHAHA! I can FINALLY get through the only Zelda game I've never beat! OH HAPPY DAY!

Sorry for all the caps and rant, but I'm excited.

The saving system is the only thing keeping me from plaything through this game again right now. Three slowed down game days worth of play is a lot to lose if the power goes out or something (which happens too often at my house). I love everything else about the game.

(Looks at his gold cartridge hologram-esque of Majoras Mask) No thanks, and I am not planning to get a DSi anytime soon.

I almost hope it doesn't come out in the US next monday-- I've got such a backlog now, and Majora's Mask is the one Zelda game I haven't experienced at all and actually want to play. I'm going to be torn so many ways if it comes out before I have time to work this heap down.

I was expecting this to come out near the end of the month! Barely into it? Damn you, Nintendo, why must you choose to be awesome in such painful ways?

I've still never played a Zelda game that's newer than a Link to the Past.

Seriously, I would definitely upgrade to the DSi if they offered console games in DSiWare. Without that I am not convinced I need to upgrade.

cool, I've got a slot saved for this on my main screen. I hope it is less the game freezing bugs that the emulated version for Cube had. It was enough to make me quit playing on there....map change...white screen...white screen...white......screen. Reset. And because of the odd save system and time aspect, lots of wasted hours.

I'll also admit I've never finished the game and even owned it twice on N64.

:|

Guessing this is coming to NA very soon.
