50" 720p? Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but don't they make plasmas that are 1080p now? I haven't been following HDTV progress in about a year and a half so I may be wrong.

PS3 = DVD Player with game support

Anyway the only reason to bother with 1080p is to use your TV as a computer monitor. Otherwise you are going to have a hard time telling the difference or even finding a true 1080p source (besides Blu-ray, what is there? most console games aren't even rendered at 1080p naively, they are upscaled from 720p or sometimes less)

Mine's been going 2 years, spends more time on than off (seriously), has been dropped down the stairs (in a carry bag) and is still running perfectly, recording TV (onto my nice cheap 500gb laptop HDD), playing games and watching full HD films.

All game consoles are toys, you do play with them and everything. If you think current Xbox 360s are as prone to failure as the old ones you are just high.

The Wii is the top selling console and makes the most profit, period. It also has a huge variety of games for every demographic, just because it has games that don't appeal to you doesn't mean it's not a game console. It has the most exclusives and the most original games that have never been done before on any platform, and not only that but all the games cost at least $10 less.

Look I can be a fanboy too:
How replaceable are those PS3 controller batteries? Oh yeah they aren't. How ergonomic are they? Oh yeah they are from 1994. Everyone I know with a PS3 bought them before they had rumble too so they have to buy all new controllers if they want something that the Xbox came with standard (That's ~$200 for four of them). That's a lot more than $15 for 4 rechargeable AA batteries and charger. How many exclusive PS3 games are there, like 3?

Oh and how has the PSN's free service been? Most game reviewers and players all agree LIVE is worth the cost because it's the best online service available for consoles.

How exactly is Blu-ray the format of the future? I see streaming videos (like Netflix) as the future, and so does Microsoft and Apple...so it sounds like the two largest makers of operating systems are going to disagree with you there.

Ultimate Game Room? With only one system? I'd think to even approach "ultimate" you would need all three consoles and a pretty beffy PC.
