Gaming emulation isn't exactly the most legal activity you can take up -- as such, we can't help but admire the bravado of Chinavision's brilliantly named device. CVFH-N03-4G, pictured above. Housed within its minuscule frame is the ability to emulate games from the NES, SNES, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, SNK Neo-Geo and Capcom's arcade platforms, CPS1 and CPS2. It also plays a number of audio, video and image formats, and apparently serves as an e-book reader using text-to-speech technology.
In other words, for just $87.31, you can pick up a device that's capable of playing every form of pirated media known to mankind. Thanks, technology!

What is it with chinese/japanese developers and using that blocky monospaced Times font? The development tools only have one western font or something?
Posted: Apr 5th 2009 3:15PM WiredKnight said
First of all, that's not Times.
Second, a lot of Asian font types have western characters (usually English) built in, but since they're not the primary use for the font, they're usually really basic. Once they were done developing it in Chinese, they probably just translated the menus and kept the same font, instead of choosing a western font that looks better.

To those of you who are drooling over this, there are other devices out there that will do exactly what this Chinavision thing does except way better. Check out the GP2X, it emulates everything that can and more, including CPS3.

the GP2x is over twice the price tho. Of course its going to do it better. A rack of arcade cabinets would do it better than the GP2x but as with your recommendation - that is stupid.

I'm pretty certain that these are the same devices that I ran across a month or two ago. The manufacturer is pretty closed-architecture with the device, so you're stuck with the firmware as it is made. The processor is an odd chipset that other PMPs use and the OS they run is also proprietary. They have already stated that the current hardware would have no new emulators created. In fact, most of the emulators on the system are crappy hacks in that there is a GBA emulator in the firmware and the company gives you a program that "wraps" your roms in a GBA emulator of another system. In other words, good luck getting any updates or any major speed in roms emulated with that method.
The GP2X may be a bit more expensive, but the ability to actual develop for it, rather than developing for an interpreter on the system, makes a great deal of difference between the two.
YMMV.

(gee.. an edit function would be nice)
The main reason that I found the device before was a claim that the manufacturer made into their next system being able to emulate the PSP. Anyone that understands what they would actually entail can see that they over exaggerate their products a tad.

Are they trying to get sued or something?

The Chinese government looks the other way, the ESA/MPAA/RIAA and their ilk bitch to the American, Japanese, and European governments, who issue a meaningless statement (maybe) and things return to normal
No one's getting sued here, so long as its a Chinese company up to the shenanigans.

I have one. It is called a Dingoo A320. The thing IS NOT poorly made! It is more solid and reliable than my PSP. Soiny 's 1st run PSP units were several times more expensive, and were poorly produced, with a 'square' button that didn't work, and sticky triggers.
The quality on this is solid.

Well you could say the same for ALMOST EVERY PIECE OF ELECTRONICS IN YOUR HOUSE, MORON! Seriously, almost everything is made by like 3 mega corporations in China. The Japanese and Americans just glue their logo on it.

It sounds good on paper but then you realise it's going to be flimsy and cheap with probably the worst display you'll ever use.
I'm all for a device like this but I'd like to pay for something of higher quality.

I ordered one of these bad boys, cannot wait to play Final Fight, Cadillac and dinosaurs, The Punisher, Metal Slug and many other arcade games. Not to mention Donkey Kong Country for GBA(because I heard the SNES games are a bit slow or unplayable, so I go for the GBA version).
