Sourcing dozens of US Marines from Camp Pendleton's 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, the Atomic Games-developed Six Days in Fallujah was announced this morning for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Set for release "next year," the third-person shooter takes place during the real-life 2004 US Marine-lead battle for the central Baghdad city and attempts to recreate the battle on a day-to-day basis.
"We replicate a specific and accurate timeline -- we mean six days literally," Atomic Games president Peter Tamte told the Wall Street Journal. "We track several units through the process and you get to know what it was like from day-to-day." Unfortunately, for all the realism touted by the game's developer, Konami's VP of marketing, Anthony Crouts, gives the impression that the publisher's still playing it safe, saying, "We're not trying to make social commentary. We're not pro-war. We're not trying to make people feel uncomfortable. We just want to bring a compelling entertainment experience. At the end of the day, it's just a game."
With little go to on other than the handful of screens you can see below in the gallery, we'll just have to wait and see more on Six Days in Fallujah before we cast any judgments. One thing's for sure: With the battle this game is based around having occurred so recently, its developers have a built-in audience to appease (who grew up with video games, mind you) and we wish them luck.

Fallujah is NOT a central Baghdad city. That doesn't even make sense, a central city within a city.
Fallujah is a central IRAQ city.
Fallujah is a central IRAQ city.

@Drauglim,
Are you smoking something? Tell me how this game cannot come out as nothign more than a one-sided piece of pro-US propaganda? The producer says that they are constructing it from the perspective of the US troops. Now, aren't you aware there are other perspectives in this war? Or is it the US one that only matters? Because that is spoken like a true imperialist.
So, what if the producer is not injecting his opinion out of the opinions of the US soldiers? It cuts out the opinions/views of ALL other parties.

Fallujah is not in central Baghdad; that's Sadr City. Fallujah is several miles to the west of Baghdad, in the Al-Anbar province.

I'd rather have a military game set in a real life conflict than a made up one. How many games do we already have where you're in an anonymous Middle Eastern country?

Why do people critizcize this game? It's not pro-war. Seiriously, if Call of Duty 1, 2, 3, and 5 are based on events in WWII, why aren't they critizising that? I understand that many died that day, and that it's not to be called awesome, or neat, but sort of a tribute, showing what happened and why we should remember and be proud of our troops, who protect our @#!es! And this shows what they go though. So all you people who hate this game, piss off. God Bless America!!!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa there people. Look this is about a game, chill out a bit and dont all get stressed.
Yes I agree with many of you, Iraq was the biggest pile of BS ever. No reason to go in apart from the US and UK governments being quite rash and thinkinng of their own good/benefit from obtaining control - oil, access to the government of a country considered as a potential neuclear threat , and a way to make terrorism look much worse than it is.
Douche Bigalow - saying we all thought it neccesary before we went is wrong, not everyone did or did the protests and marches against it completely pass you by. We had to stay once we were destroying stuff so as not to unleash anarchy on them yes but we did unfairly blow the holy C**P out of their nation. Also, once at war you dont just win or lose, its not a game its real life and people die - real scary s**t there with actual guns ad that. I dont want the forces withdrawn yet but not for our sake, for Iraq's, we have screwed their people over majorly so we need to keep peace and sort things out sharpish.
Ok, VIetnam, don't care who's fault it was that happened, people made mistakes, the whole thing is a laughing stock but its done. Some wars are neccesary, some not, like others have said. Invariably I find the wars not neccesary are started by idiots who are poorly educated and very narrow minded - largely those that think their religion is the best and everyone elses suck (George Bush). Crusades is one example, Iraq 1, Iraq 2. all 3 started by Christians in Arabic states WTF! Enough..
Now, who's excited about this video game?

This is FAR different from WWII games or any other conflict. The US is waging war upon a CIVILIAN POPULATION. There is no organized army. And neither is there a supposed terrorist organization made up of foreign fighters predominantly. They are mostly local Iraqis who are ENTITLED to the right of self-determination. Sound familiar? American Revolution? Hear of that?
Just look at the various studies of Iraqi death tolls. Low end 100K and high end 1.5 Million.:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-naiman/uk-poll-consistent-with-1_b_64475.html
And then take into the controversy over the the massacre of civilians in Fallujah? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallujah,_The_Hidden_Massacre
WHAT KIND OF SICK F##KS ARE YOU who want to MURDER innocent civilians? Yes, the US will always label everyone they can as "insurgent," "extremist," "terrorist," etc to HIDE the innocent casualties. Need I remind you of Abu Ghraib? Oh yeah, the American memory is all of 5 minutes when it comes to real issues of importance, espeically one that causes suffering upon others. PATHETIC.
So, a war upon civilians and you COWARDS want to play GAMES with it. These are considered WAR CRIMES. And just as in Nuremberg when the concept of war crimes were established, the people, rightly so, who orchestrated these were hung DEAD. And as such, we should adhere to law unless we want to look like the hypocrites we are and punish those who orchestrated the this illegal invasion rife with torture, occupation, and murder. In the same was as Nuremberg. Unless, we Americans want to look like the hypocrites we are. Americans really believe in more than anything in American exceptionalism. We are above all laws...

I like Konami's approach to this game, they're describing it as a survival horror game (which is realistic for a war game) without a social commentary.
