Yeah, they really should release actual GAMES, ya'know like "de Blob", "Wario Land: Shake It!", "No More Heroes", "House of the Dead: Overkill", "MadWorld", etc.

Too bad those are all Xbox360 exclusives :'(

I would buy another Wii if they released a Glacier (see-through plastic) version.

Okay, back to Bit.Trip. Beat I go.

I am pretty sure that if you're 1,000 miles ahead of your competition, it's kind of hard to worry about them running 40 miles per hour faster than you. It's still take 25 hours for them to overtake you.

Maybe Nintendo will change their tune if Sony continues to gain on them, or maybe they'll remember that they didn't do too badly even in the Gamecube era.

I think it's safe to say a home console the size od a CD player would be the holy grail of Japanese console manufacturer achievements.

really? I figure the future of Wii is looking brighter than ever, and that's from 3rd parties alone (considering Nintendo's refusal to hype)

Two sides of the same coin, i suppose.

" Capcom's Monster Hunter 3, which will likely spark an increase in Wii hardware sales when it launches in Japan this summer"

So can I book that for winter here? That's pretty much the only upcoming wii game I'm looking forward to playing.

I still don't get why this game is only coming to the wii. The least casual game ever, for the most casual console in existence. I'm sure it will sell in Japan anyway, but will it appeal to wii owners anywhere else?

Damn you Capcom, this title should be on PS3/360 too. :(

I for one hope this trend continues and Nintendo burns out before its misguided console hurts the game industry any more than it already has.

@Cody: Dude, I disagree with Shagittarius too, but ad hominem arguments are NOT COOL.

I still do not understand the arguments as to why Nintendo is hurting the video game industry, but it all seems to boil down to a dispute about tastes. And you know what they say about disputing about tastes...

Fads come and go, and there's no doubt in my mind the PS3 will outlast its competition. Hell if the Wii didn't have the support of Vanillaware and Grasshopper--two developers which I'm positive most Wii owners don't know of--I wouldn't have had to buy one myself :-/

at this rate for the PS3 to catch the Wii EVER, the Wii would have to stop selling now and the PS3 to continue to sell until 2016 as projected....hoping of course that the PS3 continues to pick up steam it could actually catch the Wii by 2011

I still am unsure how the Wii's a fad.

It's not like it's just gonna' disappear and everyone will forget about it.
Whether people like it or not, it's still gonna' keep selling games.
Even if the casual market dies, there's still the "gamers" that need their "unique game"-pills.

And what's with people claiming "Sony will shine one day! Just you wait!"? ...I haven't really been seeing THAT MUCH improvement from Sony recently.
I love my PS3 and all, but I have still yet to purchase another game since Street Fighter IV, and the last one I bought before that was Valkyria Chronicles, and the last one I bought before that was MGS4.
There's a pretty big gap between all those games.

All my FPS needs are met by the 360, my RPG needs are met by PSP and DS, my RTS by my PC, and the odd simple games are met by the Wii.
Not saying the PS3 doesn't have anything, I just, once again, don't see THAT MUCH improvement through the PS3 years.

Just because something doesn't magically disappear at some random point in time doesn't mean it isn't a fad. They still sell those stupid singing fish, you know. Not saying it's a fad, just that you're argument doesn't make sense.

What I meant was disappearing from people's minds.
(Those singing bass fish is still in people's minds?!)

...didn't mean it was gonna' die out like a Virtual Boy - meant that even if it were to die down from the casual market, it'd still sell - just not by millions.

...and even then, it'd still beat the PS3 oddly enough.

they said they have a strong release schedule for 2nd half of 09 - but the only game "announced" is monster hunter , me thinks they are about to anounce several more big games at e3.

pikmin 3 for sure if due out winter '09 or early sping '10

Pikmin 3 is almost a given, which is why it'll be doubly disappointing when Nintendo doesn't announce it in lieu of something completely unexpected

Though something from Retro Studios is equally given. It's been 2 years after Metroid Prime 3, and MP3 was released a good half a year later than it needed to be.

By the time the PS3 catches up to the Wii, our descendents will read about it on Joystiq VR while waiting for the rocket to launch to go on vacation in the Andromeda galaxy. Nintendo is right to not be worried.

Umm ... why all this end-of-the-world talk with sales of the Wii sliding? Seriously, has anyone considered the possibility that just about everyone in Japan who's even remotely into gaming might have a Wii at this point.

Let's be frank, when the Wii was on top, it wasn't as if the PS3 was close behind. The Wii was selling -- at one point -- tens of thousands ahead of the PS3 -- that the PS3 now is selling a few more machines hardly confirms that anything is amiss at Camp Nintendo.
