wonder who'll get this

Really, stop and shoot is not gonna work on a versus game never!!!!

I can see it on a survivor, kinda like Left4Dead, but not on this

The trick to versus mode is to 2v1 the other team before they 2v1 you. Use zone defense instead of man defense.

so, how is Slayers any different from Mercenaries?

is it just kill X number of Majinis as opposed to kill as many as you can in a time limit?

Slayers sounds more like a competition than Mercenaries. Competing 1 on 1 or 2 on 2. That actually might be fun.

That this didn't come included with the retail version of the game sets a worrying precedent for the future.

You really shouldn't have to pay extra for this. I strongly believe this should have come with the game.

It should be fun seeing all these comments about how the multiplayer should be cheaper or free...

Then when another post comes up on the multiplayer, these same people say it is crap, which pretty much implies they bought it, anyway.

I feel the same way. Doesn't matter anyway since I've probably put about 40 hours into this game so far and I've barely even touched 'Mercenaries' mode yet. I'll defnitely get my money's worth out of RE5 without any multiplayer add-ons.

Booooooooooooooooo. That's crap. $5 to play what is sure to be the least-fun online deathmatch mode ever conceived?

And seriously, "above and beyond the initial scope"? That's crap too. Isn't there some other game out by some obscure company.. Pipe or something.. that is offering free DLC for their zombie killfest?

It is above and beyond their scope. Mainly because why the hell would you want multiplayer in Resident Evil 5 when you have Left 4 Dead. Think of it this way: Capcom says yay we are almost finished with the game.- Then they see people are bitching about how they want multiplayer - so Capcom says o we will give you multiplayer(Mr. Burns Hand Movements) Excellent! Then now people bitch about it, but many will still get it because they are multiplayer whores. Done.

i think the mode would be fun to try, also to watch. you stop to aim, they stop to aim. you move to get away then re establish your aim and they move. i like it for the way it changes up the norm of circle strafing, but i do find myself standing still in traditional shooters from time to time. if only it were included with the game they could probably get more people to get expansions for the mode

Why is the PS3 version only $4? And why is it only $2 in Japan?
The point of paying for Xbox Live is that Microsoft takes care of the matchmaking and leaderboards. Capcom is running servers to take care of that stuff on PS3, but on 360 it's costing them nothing. So why do we pay 2.5x as much as a Japanese PS3 owner?

That line of thinking is a double edged sword. You might think by not buying it that you are telling Capcom this is unacceptable but an unintended consequence could be no DLC for future iterations or other franchises. What most people don't understand is that premium DLC helps companies recoup some of those large development costs. Basically, people buying DLC is keeping games from costing $70 at retail.

I think the multiplayer game mode itself should have been free and that they should just charge for weapons, maps & characters. It would seem that if they did that people would also bitch. Before RE:5 was released no one was saying to themselves "that competitive multiplayer is going to be off the chain" because it was outside the scope of the original game.

Maybe Capcom could have included a voucher for the premium DLC in the collectors edition or some other creative way to entice people to purchase it. Honestly, I played through the first 3-4 levels of the game and haven't touched it since. It's not because its an awful game but because I have been exclusively playing PSP games non stop.

The simple fact is that if you don't think its worth it then don't buy it. The game isn't any less complete without this content the same way GTA & Fallout 3 aren't w/o buying additional content. The game wasn't meant to have a VS mode and they decided to put it in there for the fans of the game.

-The DLC would never exist if it weren't for DLC, they announced this. Therefore it would NOT be on the disc, no matter what.
-Comparing this to GTA of Fallout DLC: everybody praises it, because it really is a good example of DLC, yet if it was announced before the games' releases and came out within a month after people bought the game, they would bitch.
-Conclusion: people here just like to bitch, downvoting comments like mine won't change that fact. They will still release DLC, it will still be extra content that would NEVER see release on the retail disc, and people will still bitch because one or two companies do this for free.

You read that wrong. Everyone praises GTA4 and Fallout DLC, of course nobody praises this DLC. My point was that if they had announced GTA4 and Fallout DLC before the games' releases, people would complain about it. Yet there really would be no difference with the DLC itself.

You really represent everyone with a brain, eh? So I guess "everyone" doesn't take into account things like when the game was pressed, profit margins, and budgets into account because that's the smart thing to do? The only way, THE ONLY WAY, that you, or anyone else "with a brain" can prove that this DLC is something that should have been included from the get-go is if there was a proposed budget that was altered to allow room for DLC. If the original game budget was axed in order to allow more financial freedom for the DLC budget, then yes, it's BS. But you can't prove that! People are bitching about this for no reason!

You have no reason to say this is 100% definitely material that should have been in the original release. They could announce this stuff before the release date even if it was two months prior, it doesn't mean they took a surgical knife to the game and labeled the specimen collection a DLC for extra profit. It's something separate that wouldn't be there if it weren't for the prospect of making extra money on the side of the game. Is it milking the franchise? Yes. Is it really any different than releasing an expansion of sorts? NO. IT'S NOT.

If this DLC had ten times the content and took 30 weeks to release as opposed to 3 weeks, NOBODY WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT. So why is it a problem now? The size of the download or scope of the content? It's like the horse armor. WTF are you guys complaining about? It's a fucking piece of visual flair that you have the option of paying real money for. Most of us think it's dumb and wouldn't pay money for it, but why is it such an atrocity that it's there?

There is no way that anybody has ever come up with a legitimate argument that has come close to changing my opinion on this matter. Everyone who bitches about this leaves gaping holes in their arguments and simply leads me to believe they have no idea what they are talking about, and they are just bitching becuase they are cheap and wand everything for free.

You say I'm complaining because I just want it to be free? No I'm stating that it should have been free because this will rely on multiple people to buy it and play it constantly for it to be worth it. I said this before but you probably skipped it for being true. If it costs money than not everyone will get it, if it was a patch then everyone would get it and it may have persuaded some to buy the game. Not many games get played for multiplayer. Give me a reason that this would be worth the money, but remember that it isn't a "if you don't like it don't buy it" situation because if I did like it but nobody else bought it It would be pretty useless wouldn't it?

Draug, that is a good point. I think your reasoning is a bit different than most peoples, and it makes much more sense. It is definitely a unique one, though, as you can't apply this reasoning to most DLC. For example, that argument wouldn't work for the horse armor everyone complains about.

You do make a solid point though. Sorry if I looked over it.

No thank you.

Capcom already remade RE4, and sold it in a new shiny package... Saying "But look there is COOP!!" And now they charge for a cheap crappy online mode. Not only that, but charging different prices per system/territory...

The full game is only worth a rental anyway. Unless you have friends you know IRL that play it. The AI (friendly and enemy) is the dumbest I have seen in a long time.

I agree with b3ast. RE5 felt more like GoW than RE.

*Slight spoiler alert*
I mean, come on! You have a cover system, enemies with guns, you can now CURB STOMP people, you can get "downed" and get revived by your teammates, and they even have a Hammer of Dawn in the game for Pete's sake. (Who the hell is Pete anyways?)

Nemesis no offense dude but you have possibly the weakest arguement I've ever seen on it.

*Spoilers, sense he labeled them as such*
***There's a cover system, I guess that makes EVERY GAME EVER a rip off of Gears. Did you want them to make it so you get shot up and can't take cover?
***There's enemies with guns. Damn, Goldeneye was on the ball to rip that off of Gears so early. I remind you in RE4, J.J. had a mini gun that he chased after you with, I'm sure that's before Gears :V
***Curb stomping is limited to only Gears? Capcom probably didn't want to force players to bed over and cut with a rubber knife so they gave a powerful alternative. Play as Sheva if you don't like it that much, she impales :V
***Laser of dawn? The one in RE5 doesn't even come close to it, Laser of dawn shot a concentrated beam down that you could aim around, the one in RE shoots a giant explosion and it's over.
I remind you as well that RE4 DID come out before GoW, and GoW copied plenty from it. So I think RE5 is pretty much in the clear as it's using the system CAPCOM invented.
Just sayin'

I'm comparing what RE5 had that no RE before that had. I'm also comparing it to GoW which had all the listed items that no other games, that I know, has altogether. Name one 3rd person shooter that has a cover system, enemies with guns, curb stomping, getting downed but able to be revived by your teammates, AND Hammer of Dawn in ONE game.

Yes, I am aware that Sheva impales. I've played RE5 3 times through and currently on Professional.

Oh, I don't know about the Hammer of Dawn being any different from the laser being used in RE5. Sure one is a blast and the other you can kind of aim around for a few seconds, but they're still the same type of weapon; a laser from the sky/space which needs to be aimed at in a certain spot for a fixed amount of time.

Regardless of everything, RE5 feels a lot more like GoW than RE.
