Japanese gamer breaks disc, burns magazine article over Vesperia PS3 port

Perhaps "Tales of Rage" is a more suitable title for Tales of Vesperia on PS3, as fan reaction to the enhanced port hasn't gone over well. Fans of the series in Japan are livid at the announcement, seeing as many of these gamers bought systems just to play the formerly 360-exclusive game. In one case, a fan was so angry he snapped his game disc in half (... subconsciously telling himself he has a reason to pick it up again) and burned the PS3 announcement article.

While we feel sorry for such angered gamers, we do believe they should have known better. After all, the game was previously teased to appear on PS3 by Namco Bandai itself. Just couldn't wait, huh? No wonder they say patience is a virtue.

Well don't then, because that would be dumb. Though less dumb than buying a 360 for Vesperia, since Mario Kart Wii has about a 0% chance of coming out on the PS3 or 360, being a first party game.

If I ever relented (never gonna happen) and bought a Wii for Monster Hunter Tri, and then it came out for PS3...the same thing would happen. But with the Wii joining the magazine and disc on the bonfire.

It's things like this that help me get through the day. Ah, life may suck, but this is good. :)

The point is that they bought a console they didn't want just for a game which they could of gotten anyway if they waited.

FF13 is only in PS3 in japan. No 360 version.

Silly Japanese. Learn what we have that there are no exclusives anymore, everything just takes time... Even Halo isn't an X-box exclusive... it takes time for it to come out on PC for us PC Gamers.

I seriously think Metal Gear is a matter of time on X-box 360. I mean look at Bioshock, that was a super X-box exclusive... now it's not.

The only console that will retain it's large number of exclusives, is the PS3, purely because Sony own so many studios (30 or with franchises like Killzone, Motorstorm, Pixeljunk, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, MAG, Wipeout and so forth), so all the PS3 1st party exclusives are locked away. Just like Microsoft and eerrrr, Halo.....

The problem could also be, you know, that there's a TON of new content on the PS3 version that just isn't available to 360 owners.

I couldn't care less about the game hitting PS3, but it does bug me that there's going to be so much content I won't get to see just because I supported the release in the first place. And it definitely sounds like far too much to be released as DLC.

I think what's most frustrating for fans of the original Vesperia is that they cannot access this content at all without getting a PS3. Buying a 360 is a pretty big investment, and then having to buy a PS3 is an even larger investment. Namco Bandai probably intended on this delayed release from the get-go and in the end, no one really wins.

I'd be mad too. Think of the tens of people who bought a 360 just for Tales of Vesperia. You take away the only reason worth getting it and you get some incredibly minor moral outrage.

You mean the 150k that it sold in Japan? For a huge franchise that's pretty low. Especially when you consider that most Tales of games are near million sellers.

They weren't deprived. They bought the 360 just for the game. That's the whole point of their outrage.

I don't believe much people (if anyone) bought an Xbox360 "just" to play NG2. Buying a whole console in japan to play an RPG thats exclusive is just more reasonable for them. Heck, I was about to drop 200 bones just to play Star Ocean 4 (ok and to play NG2, GoW2, IU and ToV)....but I think I will wait it out now that I will be able to play NGS2 and ToV on the PS3..lol

But anyway, they as well as American 360 Tales lovers should get over it because PlayStation fans have had just about every Sony franchise go over to the 360: Devil May Cry, Tekken, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter, blah blah blah... and y'all can't handle just ONE title?!?!? That is EXACTLY what I was thinking the minute I read this article. Why do you buy an entire system for "one game" that you have to have if there are no other games that really interest you?

The japanese need to use better judgment when buying systems. Seriously. And they should try and see what other games 360 has to offer instead of whining about Vesperia coming to PS3. Geez.

I've honestly never bought a console for a single game; I've stuck to the PlayStation consoles because they have the most games I like.

He no doubt felt the rage I felt when I read it was 360 exclusive and waited patiently for a good RPG for my PS3.

that's totally what I wanted to do too when I read the news. however, I think nothing would satisfy me more than trading in TOV the 360 version when I pick up the PS3 version. Just like what I did with the Bioshock. And that's what I will be doing with with the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and TOV.
