Cinema Blend reports that an Xbox 360 version of Sega's classic arcade game, Shinobi, has popped up in the ESRB database. Based on the ESRB description, it sounds like it will be an XBLA rerelease of the original arcade game (right down to the shuriken throwing mini-game). There have been some great Sega titles announced for the service lately -- namely Outrun Online Arcade and Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram -- as well as rumblings of more classics on the way, so the news isn't exactly surprising, but welcome.
Another reason it's not surprising: Sega needs the money.

Awesome game. When else was Spiderman ever a boss in a non-comic related game?

I wonder how they find out when things emerge on the ESRB website. Do they add like a "Recently Rated!" section or something? Or is there just some guy named Joe who catalogs every game ever rated and sends an email to every game journalist when something new pops up?

I find it funny that Lincoln thinks its a good idea to post ads here on Joystiq. No Lincoln, most of us dont have enough money to buy your MKZ.

They fired the guy who suggested advertising to the right people and making a more fuel efficient vehicle to appeal to the masses.
That said, I've met a few people on here with jobs with decent pay.

Yeah, I know that's the sad truth towards another sequel. I guess even a remake or an XBLA rerelease could add more hype into the franchise and maybe show its not dead.

I don`t see what the fuss is about - this is already available in the Sega Mega Collection as a bonus, you just have to unlock it.

I already have Shinobi on the Sonic Genesis Collection. I want Revenge of Shinobi. It's the best Shinobi game ever! Sega seems to be ignoring it.

Ryan I also grabbed the Sega Genesis Collection for 360 (easier than hooking up my Genesis) and it's a lot of fun. I would recommend it to any Sega fan.
For $30 you get quite a few first-party Sega games (all Genesis emulated with save-state available) and can unlock some arcade versions as well.
A much better bargain than the individual Sega ones on XBLA...

I agree it is a really good collection.. though it's a shame most of the games are so terrible.. I think I found 8 games that were still decent - Shinobi arcade wasn't one of them.. but it was worth the £25 I paid for it.. I really liked the rating system, I think we need that on Xbox Live (like a game rep system, even one for online/offline play on a 5 star system). Joystiq need to get on the case!

This is already on the Sonic Sega collection released just a few weeks ago. I bought the collection just for this game. The nice thing is there are quite a few other top notch classic titles on the collection as well. Rather than re-releasing this as a standalone why don't they keep the exact same gameplay but up the graphics to HD? I think it would be awesome to see completely redrawn characters like SF2THD for this game without changing the already outstanding gameplay. The game by itself is still an awesome classic arcade platformer. I agree with Benjamin Heckendorn if you don't already have it get the Sonic Sega collection out now for both PS3 and 360 as you get more for your money in that collection with Shinobi arcade included.
If more classics are coming out I'm wondering if Sega will actually release the Golden Axe Death Adder's Revenge arcade game. I never got to finish that back in the day and it was awesome! I'm stoked for arcade classics! I hope we see more high quality ones soon!

Exactly right Kizzle. I think from now on these will be the ONLY affordable mini games. Only thing is, there are SOOOOOOO many good titles for the 360 right now I have NO NEED for little garbage like this. I think some people just like OLD ASS SHIT!!!

Not only was Shinobi on the ESRB ratings list, but so was another SEGA classic game... Altered Beast. Both are coming to the Xbox LIVE Arcade.
